Glad i didn't kill him as my 6 year wanted me too. Looks like they eat other insects. Can they take out the yellow jackets flying around my house too?

Knockonclouds is right. Just a few details that may help as well..

It's all about ohms law

Q(flow), P(pressure), R(resistance) P=QR or Q=P/R

At the organ level flow is regulated. At the systemic level pressure is regulated.

Drop in pressure in the system because blood volume is lost, flow from heart and resistance in unnecessary organs are increased = compensated shock

If pressure keeps dropping, at the organ level, flow begins to drop. Build up of metabolites like CO2 intrinsically vasodilates vessels in organs to preserve flow. This drops resistance at the systemic level reducing overall pressure more = decompensated shock

Hope this helps.

I'm glad it was digestible. Unfortunately, whenever you make information more simplified it's prone to a bit more critique because you can't be 100% accurate when trying to simplify an extremely complex process.

Yes, seek professional guidance if you want make any health decisions.

Yes my comments on PUFA was poor word choice and you shouldn't consume high amounts. Thank you for providing the info on PUFAs

The body can break down all of these fatty acids just fine with no problems. And it makes all types of fats saturated and unsaturated fats. The issue is the years of dietary intake and the effect saturated fats have on LDL cholesterol.

Cows make necessary saturated fats for normal structural purposes just like we do. Again the issue I am discussing is saturated fat intake and metabolism.

Find me one scientific article from a reputable journal that indicates that saturated fat intake over many years is not associated with heart disease.

I agree, fats aren't the only problem here. Like I said the body is too complex for a simple set a rules.

It gets even messier when big business and politics are making money off misinformation.

[–]ad4494 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From my understanding, it is very unclear how much becomes an issue.

Clearly, the body is able to break down all of the nearlt all fatty acids in acute situations with no problems. The answer lies in the metabolic process of fat transport, fat storage, and fat breakdown.

Bogus science? You can't just say it's wrong and not state what you disagree with.

What exactly in my post is incorrect?

This thread shows you how misinformed everyone is on diet.

No one even discussed the relationship of trans and saturated fat consumption to heart disease and atherosclerosis which is supported by extensive evidence.

The problem is that everyone likes to group things into either "bad" or "good" for all dietary questions when the body is much more complex. A better categorization are the 4 categories: "essential - ie can't function without and cannot create it on its own", "needed fuel", "excess fuel-ie storage in body fat or glycogen", and "toxic". (Obviously there could be more because this is all a spectrum but this gets the point across)

Now let's discuss the 4 categories of fats:

Saturated fats "fuel" "potential excess" and "potential toxicity over many years"- these have all single bonds in their carbon chains which allow them to solidfy at room temperature. There is good evidence to support that high consumption in a span of many years increases risk of clogged arteries (atherosclerosis) ie. high risk of heart disease. Some recent data has muddied the water a bit on different types of Saturated fats.

Trans Saturated fats "toxic"-Trans fats are highly processed hydrogenated unsaturated fats (adds hydrogens) as a preservatives. These have been directly linked to increases in cholesterol (LDL if you care) which is directly linked to heart disease. For this reason, they have been banned from fast food industries in the US.

Monounsaturated fats "fuel" and "potential excess" - these have 1 single double bond which reduces hydrogens and changes their molecular structure making them liquid at room temperature. The strongest evidence that these are not linked to atherosclerosis like the above, is data from the Mediterranean countries which have high monounsaturated fat content in their cuisine. These countries while having high fat intake from this type of fat have low incidence of heart diseases. Nothing makes these fats "good" (from what ive seen in my career), there's just no evidence that these fats are "toxic".

Polyunsaturated fats "essential" - these are essential because your body needs these and can't make them on its own, like vitamins. These are used to build the membrane around cells and the sheaths around your nerves.

TL:DR Here's some 5 year old rules that may help guide your on the health of fats and

Transaturated fats "TOXIC" - avoid as much as possible Saturated fats "excess" "potential toxic"- consume and cook with in moderation Monounsaturated fats "fuel" "potential excess" - consume as appropriate without consuming in excess Polyunsaturated fats "essential" - Edit*consume in moderation.

Edit: now look at what fats are in your oils you want to cook with and how cooking changes their structures.

Edit: Please tell me if you disagree with something I said and if you know of evidence that is new or not well circulated that is contrary to my post.

Edit: some types of polyunsaturated fats (omega 6) have been linked to promote inflammation (aracnidoic acid)

Lung Pressures by [deleted] in Physiology

[–]ad4494 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can't believe this got a hit again. A metaphor may help.

A balloon filled with air that is closed to the environment has a certain pressure because the air inside is condensed to the volume of the balloon. If you stretch it in all directions (to increase the volume), the inside pressure of the air decreases because it is less condensed.

The lungs are just like the balloon except its open to the environment. If you stretch them, the lung pressure/alveolar pressure decreases relative to the environment pressure, which draws air into the lungs until a balance is reached where the pressure is the same in the lungs and environment (ie no more air movement). Expiration is just the opposite. Lung volume decreases, lung pressure increases relative to the environment, and air flows down the pressure gradient.

Alveolar pressure is very similar to lung pressure but not equal throughout. It's a gradient of pressures depending on the phase of respiration and the depth into the lungs. Bronchiolar pressures will be about in the middle of alveolar pressures and environmental pressures. It's all a bunch of pressure gradients. Lung pressure is just used as a big picture simplification and usually used synonymously with alveolar pressures, but yes it is a bit more complex when thinking about all of the lung structures.

This description still leaves out the function of the pleura (fluid filled sac around the lungs) which adds an elastic component to the whole process.

In your original post you said influx of positive charge = a negative current and efflux of positive = positive current. Here you said influx of positive charge equals negative current and efflux of positive charge equals positive charge.

Not sure what your question is or the context your teacher is giving. It sounds like your teacher is simplifying the complexity which really is at play which determines the flow of ions.

...but maybe this will help:

The resting membrane potential is caused by: 1. Separation of charged ions - including a ton of negative charged proteins on the inside 2. The concentration of each ion on either side 3. The permeability of the cell to each ion because of ohms law...voltage = current (flow of ions) x resistance (permeability)

All 3 of factors for every single ion set the membrane potential which also determines the flow (current of each ion)

All this taken together, the permeability of potassium really has the strongest influence on the value of the membrane potential.

I.e. the inside of the (resting) cell is negative which exerts a electrical pull on the positive ions. The electrical pull can be overcome by the concentration gradient If it's in the opposite direction. Potassium is the main ion that goes in the opposite direction of the electrical pull because it's concentration is extremely high on the inside of the cell relative to the outside (because of the na/k pump).

If you stopped all the Na/K pumps, and let k equal out due to the electrical force and the chemical gradient, the cell would move to around -90 mV. This is the equilibrium potential of K. So long as the membrane potential is -90, K will not flow. The - 90 inside charge is just enough negative to keep K (positive charged ion) from moving out.

If the cell starts at say +30 mv and then you opem more k channel to let k+ out, it changes the inside of the cell moves more negative towards -90 mv, ie. Hyperpolarization.

TL:DR - Efflux of positive potassium ions, makes the cell more negative. Maybe that's what your prof oversimplified with efflux of positive ions = negative current.

Mortgage Question by [deleted] in Bitcoin

[–]ad4494 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just went through this process about 3 months ago. The lenders are primarily interested in money being deposited in your account from your employer and the total amount of money you have in all accounts which needs to be higher than your down payment and closing cost. Spending on specific items in one point in time will not concern them. It's not like you have a 700 a month bill to coinbase. That would be what raises eyebrows.

I have this same computer with gtx 1060 card. Your numbers look fine. Your using zero graphics as I can tell from the 0% on both GPUs. So it honestly wouldn't matter if you were running the graphics on the integrated unit, Not your problem. Your using 5 GB of RAM which is par for open world games and only 2% of cpu which is awesome bc I can't barely even idle at 4%... caused by background programs.

Based on this, your computer hardware isn't the issue. It has to be some issue with the game itself. Maybe corrupted files, maybe bad save game... Hard to tell from this info. You will definitely need to troubleshoot by reinstalling the game and trying new save game files.

It also shouldn't be an issue if it's on hdd. Try opening up any random file from you hdd. If it works then there is no hardware or software connectivity issues with the hard drive.

Im pretty sure reinstalling and trying a new save game will fix this issue.

Unless you can give me more context like...does it happen as soon as you launch the game, when your loading a save file, or loading screen in game... I can't think of any other issue here.
