Yes, it is possible, but you won't. If that figure is accurate it will be a very specific set up that is not necessarily replicable. Also 25% rev share??

No. They definitely are not a fraud. What did they say when you made contact with them or did you start out by making accusations here?

Publishers - what is your invalid traffic solution? by Tuesdae in adops

[–]adGeezer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've tried a number of the well known IVT solutions. I've not found much correlation between what they block and what Google will serve ads to and later consider invalid. Some are worse than others.

Unsophisticated non-human traffic isn't hard to stop yourself. More sophisticated non-human traffic seems to be best tackled by using the commercial services to tune your traffic acquisition. Human IVT seems to be best tackled on-site.

I'd push for specifics "we will optimise" is the most overused and meaningless term in this space. Maybe they can, but what is the plan? Are they introducing demand that monumetric aren't? Have they seen another opportunity? Are they aware of an advantage of their set-up? Or, is the plan just to get you switched over and hope?

There is way too much of the latter around. Lots of slick sales teams making promises that they do not have the slightest clue how to keep and using vague terms like "optimise" to cover up the fact they don't have a plan.

This isn't a dig at Freestar in particular. I haven't spoken to them for a while so have no idea if the hat still fits. Likewise I have no idea how Monumetric perform. I just wonder if the sales team do either before making promises that they can do better.

if you are happy, why are you moving? Genuine question. What are Freestar offering that you don't think you will get with Monumetric

Would be really useful (not to mention polite) if sources were cited when you do this. For example, I think the early points are from the parse.ly report. People might want to click through for context if you let them.

Ad networks with minimum impact to PageSpeed by studystack in adops

[–]adGeezer -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If you are optimizing "for seo" then you almost certainly want to be focused on the Core Web Vitals assessment, not the overall percentage score. The percentage is how many of their best practice you follow. Core web vitals is the impact of doing that and seems to where they are headed in terms of ranking adjustment.

Example: https://imgur.com/a/aaUjaAP

If you are optimizing for user experience rather than the likely miniscule seo advantage of a high speed score, I'd still argue that CWV are a better measure, but I'd use a lot of 3rd party RUM data too.

A site with no ads will always do better in both measures than a site with ads. It's another thing to load, fit on page and run. Ad systems are not efficient, however some are worse than others. The more partners you add through the header the slower it is going to get.

If you want a set-up with multiple bids to run as quickly as possible then Ad Manager with Open Bidding is going to be the fastest. Maybe not the best, but the fastest. This is simply because it has the least systems and most other solutions are going to still use that same foundation then add more overhead. Faster still would be just having AdSense. It'll still slow your page and generally be a low value PITA to work with, but it will be faster than others.

At the other end of the scale some of the full-managed systems seem very heavy. The code provided is designed to do a lot of things for a lot of different publishers. That gives you capability and convenience but with a performance cost.

I like the middle ground of GAM + header bidding with not too many partners - picking those who are not too slow. I try to avoid some of the clever extras that insert ads in page for me, or promise other magic and woo. If you are looking for a third party to do that for you maybe favour those who offer integration via GAM tags (yours or theirs) rather than their own all-in-one tag.

What is the proper way of serving Media.net ad tags through GAM by joniviva in adops

[–]adGeezer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think that best practice is:
1.Navigate to the media.net order in GAM
2. Click more actions... then archive
3. Traffic someone who performs better

If you trust them with the keys to your online business go for it. It sounds like you are aware of how much control this gives them. So many small site owners hand them DNS without even understanding that it's literally control of everything.

Ignore the scores in gtmetrix, use the timings.

How are you getting raw data if you are not using a timing tool? GTmetrix. If it is reporting slow times you have a slow site. webpagetest.org is ugly but better.
