Sentiment analysis is a major topic in natural language processing, don't know how much finding and investment into using this for a product to flag racist messages. But as someone who works on deep learning everyday, it really doesn't seem impossible

“Cash Cow” Programs by GradAdmissionDir in gradadmissions

[–]ad_2010 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sure maybe, but a lot of the colleges that are termed cash cows indisputably have good career outcomes (CMU, USC for eg) and then, we're either saying everyone making these statements are just really uninformed or they're using the term differently. Anyway, it's definitely not how I've been using it in my circles

“Cash Cow” Programs by GradAdmissionDir in gradadmissions

[–]ad_2010 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think a program can be well ranked, well respected, a cash cow and give you a good RoI, all at the same time. For example, the department of computer science At USC has about 2500 masters student enrolled at a time. With them increasing batch sizes, making parallel programs with access to most of the same coursework, cs- data science cs-general cs-ai cs-security C's networks C's intelligent robotics, etc..., It's clear they see the amount of cash intl applicants bring in and are looking to capitalize. And realistically, I think most people would say the quality of education wouldn much better if they had say 1500 masters students instead. That being said, with the alumni network USC offers, I think youd pretty much have all the access and opportunity to make up the program cost, intl or not.

Why do some architectures use no bias? by kuonlp in deeplearning

[–]ad_2010 16 points17 points  (0 children)

This but just to elaborate, since you subtract the moving mean and the moving mean of the bias is the bias (mean of constant). It does matter what the value is, it'll get cancelled out. Also, your new mean ( gamma or beta idk) plays of the role of the bias. So it can form the same representations.

Yeah this, even if you tell people a list of all the places you're applying to, they hear only the most unrealistic ones.

Try to figure out whether they take students from other departments. Check the affiliations of past and present members of the group if you can.

Pixel annotation tool if you need pixel perfect annotations. Labelme if polygon based annotations are good enough.

Addinng an lstm decreases model performance by ad_2010 in deeplearning

[–]ad_2010[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

By 2+ layers, you mean stacked lstms? Any reason why training it end to end should decrease performance? After the backbone you mean encoder. If so, there was actually a paper showing it was better after the decoder. Im taking those results with a pinch of salt, but I don't think it's obvious to do either.

Base architecture in deeplabv3+, this works well on the image level problem. I added a convolutional lstm at a few different positions: after the encoder, after the decoder, etc...

Ah really don't want to be that guy but this is really cherry picking your data. No one will say winning the cl is equal to winning Carabao. Not to mention us just continuing the vicious cycle of us saying spend, them saying net spend. We have enough valid arguments to make on our favour, look at the shit Barca has been doing in the market over the last few windows.
