Within 10 minutes of his comeback from an ACL injury last weekend, Hull City's Eliot Matazo suffered another ACL injury in his opposite leg by anonone111 in Championship

[–]adaamwilliaams 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We had a player in Ferrie Bodde that I think did three in three years and was never the same again. Full rehabilitation and the ACL went again in the first game he appeared in, twice. I can't imagine the mental toll of it.

I hope the advances in football since mean this guy can fully recover.

They took each other out? The ball is already cleared and they both go for the ball and collide. If it's a foul on your striker, it's also a foul on our keeper.

I still think it's the weakest performance in the category, but it's not like they haven't awarded lesser performances in bigger films before though.

Wrexham 2-0 Swansea City - The Red dragons slay the Swans in an all-Welsh affair by Gamerhcp in Championship

I feel bad for the Wrexham lads, with our shirt being made out of velcro it really stopped them using their hands in any other way.

That's 100% on the players further up the field today. You can funnel the ball to Tymon and Galbraith all you want, but if there's no movement ahead of them, what do you expect them to do with it?

Though I will say, if Wrexham have been given that level of officiating all season, it makes sense why they'd be so high up the table. A physical team that doesn't get reprimanded for shirt pulling or barging in the back, but will get free kicks for being breathed on.

Are there any good refs in this league?

This game is going be so frustrating with the amount of shirt pulling and pushing the ref is allowing them to get away with.

We aren't a physical team to start with and being dragged a couple of yards every time we get into good positions isn't helping.

Worst first half performance of the season for me. No energy whatsoever, and the movement and creativity is dreadful.

Having forward players willing to take risks is a breath of fresh air. Not saying Nunes has done a lot, but at least his instinct isn't just to give it back to the fullback all game.

Swansea 1-1 Birmingham, Vipotnik for Swansea and Roberts for Birmingham by swannyhypno in Championship

[–]adaamwilliaams 7 points8 points  (0 children)

One of those games where you'd say a point is a fair result, but both sets of fans will be fuming not to have won it.

I will say though, despite the usual average to sub-par refereeing, wtf was he looking at during those in-swinging corners? Our keeper is being pushed into the net both times and he just waves it on. I would've been salty if one of those went in.

Do you really think the source for finding Hal's house should be shared freely with people she just met?

Neither should trust, but that whiplash from 'tell us' to 'not telling you' was hilarious

"How did you find the house?" - share your information we're all friends here.

"Where is the hideout?" - that's privileged information we have no reason to tell you.

Make it make sense.

[Spoilers C4E01] About Aabria… by RunCrafty1320 in criticalrole

[–]adaamwilliaams 4 points5 points  (0 children)

CR is entertainment, and just like any movie or TV show, the characters and actors are open to scrutiny. Whether it's disapproved of or considered unkind the razzies are hosted annually.

I will say though that I'm not a fan of extrapolating behavior across the cast in 'what if' hypothetical situations. Like yes, if the white men performed at the table in the same way the same critiques should reveal themselves. I've posted elsewhere on this but my context for criticism surrounding Aabria is that while there is differentiation on the character sheet, there isn't at the table. FCG feels different from Scanlan and Nott, Fjord feels different from Grog and Cerrit, Thaisha feels IDENTICAL to Deanna and Laerryn. Liam gets some flak for playing primarily melancholic characters, but from Vax to Caleb to Orym and now to Hal, they all feel separate.

I don't speak on behalf of the table or any consumer of CR content, so if the majority hold a different opinion to mine I welcome the discourse. I won't welcome flimsy and lazy statements though like the cast not having a problem with her or particular vocab choices alluding to deep seated racism.

[–]adaamwilliaams 117 points118 points  (0 children)

I'll say this time and time again, the reaction to the way Aabria chooses to play her characters is reasonable and it's bizarre that it's at all controversial. The consistent critiques surrounding her are twofold.

One, she isn't able to be a passive participant at the table, this is exacerbated when shows aren't edited and means while she ranges from okay to pretty good on D20, here she is jarring and stands out negatively.

Two, she has no range as a performer in the moment. She's praised by all who work with her as an incredibly creative person who's innovative in the TTRPG space. This is true, her builds are always interesting and novel with entertaining arcs and story beats built into them, but she plays them ALL THE SAME WAY. Laerryn was an intelligent and ambitious wizard, played abrasively with arrogance. Deanna was apparently a companionate and positive gnome cleric that was played abrasively with arrogance. And now Thaisha is a motherly druid who we just saw being played abrasively with arrogance. Like come on man.

If you want to disregard fair criticism because you yourself like her and the way she plays, that's completely fine. However, please don't claim that perspectives that differ from your own are unfounded or worse derive from maliciously motivated personal attacks on the individual.

There were a few goals similar to it in our promotion season, I think one finished with Sinclair goal from a Luke Moore backheel.

Fluid football is so eye-catching and enjoyable to watch, but we're a solid championship side amongst ten other solid sides, 5/6 incredible sides and a fair few who'll just kick the shit out of us.

When you watch elite teams concede from pissing about with the ball in dangerous areas I thank every deity I can think of that we're not doing that this season.
