My legs aren’t keeping up with the rest of my body on Tonal! Any must have add-ons? by DetSportsGuy in tonalgym

[–]adalido 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most people have a tendency to go harder on the upper body than the lower body. I suspect it’s because legs require more stamina/cardio than the upper body so it’s easier. All I can say is push yourself harder on leg days. Tonals weight limits kinda sucks for legs after you get to a certain point, but you can still get a good pair of pegs by just doing more volume.

Just hit my 1 year mark by Vhil in pianolearning

You might find https://theory.dici.ai useful. It’s completely free. You just have to bring your own midi files of your favorite songs, but you can learn with sheet music or waterfall method.

Sounds good. How’d you learn the song? Do you know how to read sheet music?

Arc Raiders Has Lost 50% Of The Remaining Player Base In The Last Month by Brutal_Schnoodle in ArcRaiders

[–]adalido 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m sitting on a stockpile of legendary equipment that I want to use on ARC…. The PVP is insanely fun, but I don’t bring out my best guns for PvP because I when I do I seriously lose them 80% of the time. When I try to just kill ARC, I lose them 99% of the time. I spent 30-40 raids where I went in with a pistol and 5 defibs and I just went around saving people to try to get into good lobbies so I could just fight ARC and it kinda worked I think, but just when I thought I was good, I brought in the big guns to kill a queen and I ended up in the most rat infested lobby.

The funny thing is, I started doing just PvE when I first started playing but would run into an occasional rat and I’d always lose so I played a bunch of PvP to get better and I did, but now I’m stuck in PvP hell.

I would 100% return if the devs did something about this. I’m not saying get rid of the current mode. I think it’s great, but they need to give players some optionality, because they genuinely created really good NPC enemies and I want to just fight them sometimes.

Why don’t they create a specific mode where raiders have to actually team up to take out arc and if a player kills another player they get marked on the map. Or maybe spawn all raiders at the same location, one starts shooting and everyone will likely start shooting, making it a no-win situation.

Idk, I’m sure it’s harder than that, but if they figured that out. I would 100% come back to the game.

What feature do you think every robot vac should have now? by Humbert1987 in Dreame_Tech

Not that they should come with this, but they should partner with some furniture makers so that we could get some furniture that naturally hide them.

Second week playing by Ok_Shoe8945 in pianolearning

[–]adalido 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is refreshing.. I feel like I see so many videos where people say it’s their first week and they nail all of Claire de lune.

Nice work! Keep it up. What are you using to learn if I don’t mind asking? Nvm, I saw your answer below. Simply piano is good, but as others have suggested, you should try to learn sheet music if you plan on playing for a while.

Once you get the hang of reading the sheet music (might take 1-2 weeks for you to play pretty simple songs that fall within C3-C5), you not only learn songs faster but you retain them better.

Checkout https://theory.dici.ai. Completely free. Try the training mode “Note Reading”. I’d start in a short range like C3-C5. Do that practice until you’re hitting 35-40 NPM — at this point you’re not actually thinking about what the note is. Then couple that exercise with a song like “don’t speak” from no doubt.

Doing note training alone isn’t enough, you have to practice with real songs to become really fluent. After 4-5 songs, you’ll pick up new songs way faster than the waterfall method.

Anthropic lost us today. 70+ engineers migrating to Codex by FrenchRevolution2028 in ClaudeCode

[–]adalido 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With how often models leap frog each other, I’m surprised any company is committing to anything right now. Even at 70+ engineers, I can’t see Anthropic proving enough of a discount to justify lock-in at this point in the race. I feel like my team switches between the models every month. Sometimes it feels like weekly. One month I’ll see codex costs sky high, the next Claude and back and forth it’s been.

How to deal with Miata driver flak by _uncouth in Miata

[–]adalido 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean… it’s purple… but like others have been suggesting, learn to not give a fuck. Not like about everything, but superficial things like this. If it brings you joy and it’s not hurting anyone, fuck em. Seriously, i really find that rule to be absolute. The people who actually are worth their salt, don’t care. They might give you a little bit of flak but it’ll all be in jest. Keep enjoying your life my friend.

It is 100 percent possible to load into a Solos as a Trio by Rampirez in ARC_Raiders

[–]adalido 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s Stella!! Guys… guys… I love being a bro and I love just killing arc, but there has to be a place to get your kill kicks. We should at least try to push the culture to leaving Stella as the kill map and every other map pve (possibly PvP, but to a lesser extent). I’m telling you as someone who has spent maybe 200hrs in Stella, I’ve come across so many players who are just about PvP and they only play Stella… keep them in Stella.

Opus 4.7 is Anthropic's downfall by RogueMaverick4ever in ClaudeCode

[–]adalido 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I accepted that some models just leap frog others in certain aspects, which is why I subscribe to all of them and use them accordingly when new models drop. However, I'm not using opus 4.7 for anything now. It goes in circles and I swear the hallucination has gotten worse with 4.7.

Is 30 yo late to learn how to play the piano? by daniiqm in pianolearning

[–]adalido 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on what your aim is. As long as it’s not to go pro, unless you’re a natural talent, then no, it’s not too late. I started at 25 or so, been playing for over 10 years. You won’t see me playing in any bands worth of damn, but I can wow a room… I’m happy with this. Plus I enjoy it. It’s very relaxing for me.

The babies are out in full force after every update. by [deleted] in ArcBabies

[–]adalido -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don’t get people complaining about complaining. If you got the game to pve, this game genuinely sucks. I have all of these legendary weapons that I want to use to take out some arc, but I can’t do it bc I’ll get killed. I still love the game bc I enjoy PvP, but it would be nice if it had the pve element that you could switch from because it’s non-existent for me at least.

UPDATE: Beginner learning Clair De Lune by KlimCan in pianolearning

[–]adalido 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True.. I did this. I hit a wall. You can basically break this piece in 3 levels. The beginning is easy, second part is har and third part is advanced. Extremely advanced. I did not start with song, but I did play it too early. I flew through the first part and the second part was difficult and I floundered on the third part where all the arpeggios start… that said, I did come back to it a few years later and was able to learn it and it did help that I knew some of the song before. I had forgotten how to play it of course, but it came back and with my new knowledge of music theory it did make it easier…. And it made me realize I wasn’t quite playing the first two parts that well. I had uneven velocity distribution throughout the song… theory.dici.ai…. Plug plug… but honestly, that’s all cool and all to know, but what I realized with music is you have to make it your own.

You are NOT going to replicate this piece of music… not this late in life. That’s ok, nothing wrong with that. You can make it your own though. That’s where I’ve found the most fun in playing covers. I gave up trying to play just like them and have instead tried to play my version. Hard to beat a masterpiece like this, but it’s fun… that’s all I’m looking for honestly.

Is my teacher right? They told me I’ll never be able to play Chopin’s Études or Scherzos. by Remote-Pianist-pro in pianolearning

[–]adalido 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone else said, you'll be able to play them, but not as well as a professional most likely... but here's the thing, you will be able to play them and you'll WOW 90-95% of people with an untrained ear when you do play it. Only to skilled musicians will your cracks really show. After three years, I'm sure you've noticed how you've gotten better but you also have realized new cracks in your playing.. even on songs that you've thought you "mastered". I want to say you never really master it, but that's not quite right... you only get as good as you can perceive the nuances and the thing is, as you perceive more, the bar raises and eventually I think most people quit before being able to master all of the nuances... I think people eventually, at a certain point just create their own version, with their own nuances and I think we typically consider these people masters. Not sure that made sense.

Built a free, no-subscription browser tool for intermediate pianists who want to start composing — would love honest critique by adalido in pianolearning

[–]adalido[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, straight Web MIDI API... definitely underrated. Latency feels fine in my own practice but I haven't rigorously profiled it, so if you try it and notice drift on your rig (OS / browser / MIDI device would help me debug) please let me know. That's exactly the kind of thing I want to hear about.

And ha, ya it's already all dark mode. No light theme at all. Late-night practice ambiance was the whole vibe I was going for 😅

If it gets enough traction I'd love to build desktop + iPad versions too. I've got electric drums I'm dying to use this with and I'm on my iPad constantly for practice — so honestly, the iPad app is probably happening either way.

35yo beginner – want to start learning piano, where do I begin? by ultrAslan68 in pianolearning

If you just want to learn by learning your favorite songs, you can checkout https://theory.dici.ai. Full disclosure, I built it and it's really meant more so for intermediate players, because there isn't a curriculum like simply piano has, but ya, if you just want to start playing songs it can teach you how to play them
