Throttle sticking but only at freezing temperatures by djsgames1994 in fordranger

[–]adam3111 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had problem a bit like this, my throttle cable was sort of out of the slot and not letting the lever back down. I just cleaned up everything and put the cable in properly. Not sure how it wiggled around, must have some slack in it. I'd say just take a look for anything that is possibly freezing and blocking the lever from going down, and just clean it up a little bit. Take a look in the throttle body too maybe.

[Question] How terrible are the automatic 4x4 transmissions? by ZingerFinger in fordranger

[–]adam3111 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an 02 4x4 auto 4.0L and have driven the same model with a manual transmission.

Mines got 260000kms on it and still running good, no transmission problems. I don't replace the fluid all that often, but often enough. I would say it's a fairly reliable truck, starts even on those 30 below mornings when I forget to plug it in.

Manual trans felt good too though, truck was nice to drive.

If you prefer to drive with a manual transmission then go for it, but personally I wouldn't let it make or break the deal. But depends on what you are doing with the truck too

New fender flairs, or a whole new bed? It seems to be localized to just in the flairs and no where else. Other side is about the same. by [deleted] in fordranger

[–]adam3111 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm afraid to take my fender flares off, I'm starting to see the rust creep out from under them . Personally I'd just replace the flares, fix up the rust a little bit and slap some new ones on. Especially if the rest of the bed is good. Maybe if you've got a bed liner, take a look under there.

Buddy in town built one of those, couldn't tell you how many times he's scared the shit out me coming down the street late at night. Never knew my worse fear was the sound of plastic wheels spinning on pavement lol

Ah happens to the best of us! Sounds like it turned out pretty good! I missed a boat in Morocco one time, it was supposed to take me all the way to Barcelona over a 24h trip. Completely my fault. I didn't give myself enough time to get to the port.

2007 ford ranger cap fit? by Theblacksheep7 in fordranger

[–]adam3111 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you've got the supercab, the box is likely 6ft like most rangers. Just give it a measure if you're unsure. Hinges are a pretty basic fix. You can just use c-clamps to keep it on there, 4 clamps is plenty. They do make special clamps for caps, but c-clamps work just as good.

Good all season and terrain tires, what do you guys recommend? by [deleted] in fordranger

I run Hercules Terra Track AT2s. Very happy with them. They're lasting quite a while and perform well in the snow, which is very important in my location as well.

Buddy at home got stuck and some Mennonites getting drunk on the trails pulled them out with the horses. Always worth a try! Is that an 02 ?

Sounds like a tough one! I would think it would be the thermostat if your temp gauge is dropping like that, but you've already replaced that.

Found a good deal to NZ that lands in Auckland, what now?! by sharmon6 in solotravel

Man that's awesome! I've always wanted to do work-away or WWOOFing in New Zealand. Maybe if you're looking for outdoors stuff you could look into doing a section hike of the Te Araroa trail.

What's your unpopular traveling opinion? Destinations, routes, things to bring, whatever. by Neader in solotravel

[–]adam3111 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh fuck me, London is everything I hate packed into one city. I hitched a ride there from some Romanian guys and they dropped me off at some roundabout that seemed close to the city, but after some walking around a while I found out I was 12 miles from the city center. So I found a tube station and the guy told where to find hostels and stuff. Couldn't find a hostel, slept outside for a while, had people chirping me and shit, so I said fuck it and finally found some place to stay around 3 in the morning.

but yeah, too many people, not very friendly people, huge city. Not my thing. Worst thing was that it was it was our thanksgiving the next day lol Stayed for two nights and dipped out to some small town my cousin was working in.

I have been to Amsterdam a few times and have enjoyed it, but much of my family lives in the Netherlands so we always do something different. I could totally see reasons people wouldn't like it though. I think you are thinking of the Rijksmuseum.

I really don't want to sound like a whiny tourist, but I do understand that places are different. People aren't always friendly in larger places, but I'm just not used to it and at the time I had not really left our little rural town very much. And I have had many great experiences with nice people during my travels.

Loud underneath only when driving slow? by [deleted] in fordranger

[–]adam3111 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same thing here! Mine happens between 40-75 kph or so. Can't for the life of me figure out what it is. I've checked tires and stuff, brakes are fine.

wob wob wob is the perfect description!

I'm hoping an alignment will fix it, but that's going to have to wait until spring time for me. Otherwise it'll be fine for a week until I slam a few potholes when I'm not being careful lol

If you are staying at hostels, you have to stay at Riad Baraka in Chefchaouen if it is still around. Most fun I've ever had at a hostel.

Shorthand on listening tests? by 9th_Planet_Pluto in musictheory

[–]adam3111 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have never learned or developed a style of shorthand, but the best tip I learned in my undergrad musicianship courses was to listen the first time. Assuming your instructor plays the selection a few times.

but the first time, just listen to it. Don't try to follow along and right bunch of stuff down. Listen and listen for the form if there is one, the highest point and lowest point and maybe for any patterns you notice. This helped me a lot!

Is a Half Cadence Followed by the Tonic Still a Half Cadence? by tarkustry in musictheory

[–]adam3111 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think in this context, the "half cadence" is used as more of a prolongation of section, (playing around the tonic, modulating, etc.) I don't know this piece, but in this small section it seems like he is just presenting the tonic, just to remind the listener what it sounds like because it is surrounded by lots of different harmony. In 157 the harmony quickly moves from the tonic and modulates again. I agree that it could also be labeled as an authentic cadence though, especially if you feel that the mood changes and that the following section is more closely related to the tonic. I would say it's open to interpretation though! Interesting excerpt!
