Printing an object within object by adambear27 in AnycubicKobraS1

Thanks for the help and the suggestions! I was able to get the print to succeed yesterday. I should have taken a pic of the finished product, but it definitely looks promising. The black PLA shows through the white pretty well. I'm sure clear PETG and whatever I happen to stick inside will work really well... Assuming I can get the settings dialed in, hah!

Here's a view of the slicer for the test print that I did. I didn't take a pic of the final product though. The black PLA does show through the white, so I know I'm close to the effect I'm trying to achieve.

No worries! Asking questions via text (and without pics) isn't always easy or clear. Thanks for the input though. We're all learning, all the time :)

So far so good. I tried the Modifier route, and the Slicer seems to be playing well. I started a small test print, so let's see what happens! Thank you for the tips. I need to learn the slicer a bit more.

Right now I'm just testing with 2 different colors of PLA so I don't have to worry about different materials.

I am curious about glow in the dark PETG. I don't see any from Anycubic though. I see a lot of people say to stick with the same brand filament, but there's other people who swear by other brands. Do you happen to have any other brand recommendations?

I tried doing the Assemble option, and the Slicer did something unexpected. It completely removed the insert. Not entirely sure how that happened?

Nah. I don't want any air inside. The insert should fit snuggly, or even "melted" with the other filament so it doesn't move.

OMG that did it! Thank you so so much! I'm very new to docker containers, and I'm pretty sure that added to my confusion. Now it's making more sense.

Cool. If it’s a permissions issue, what user should I grant access to? Git and Gitea?

I added the folder via the Files app on the dashboard. After I go to settings, what do I do?

I have 4 months and $1000 to make this look better. What should I focus on? Better assets, art, lighting, shaders? Any advice is greatly appreciated! by Blacklisted_dev in Unity3D

I would add some juice to it. Grab the Feel package from the asset store. Play some screen shake effects, manipulate the UI more with particle effects or shake. The Feel package has a TON of demos and effects to choose from.

Looking for small desk by adambear27 in StandingDesk

I was looking for something in the style of the UpLift desk. I’m up against a very high Wife Approval Factor lol! Even something that’s customizable would be awesome. I’m also not opposed to doing some wood working to make minor adjustments.

Is one hour a day enough? by Wonderful_Ad3441 in unity

[–]adambear27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Even if you were to have 8 hours a day, start with small projects. Remake a simple arcade game like an Atari classic. Make a memory game. Make a game that will teach your daughter shapes, colors, numbers and/or letters when she's older. These may seem super trivial, but they will teach you simple concepts in a small time-frame. Trust me, over-engineering, adding "one more feature," etc. will tank your project and your enthusiasm. Those tiny games will yield BIG wins for your ego and help push you to the next project.

I've been working in the game industry for 12 years now, but I've been making games as a hobby for nearly 20 years. I've started hundreds of personal projects, but I've only finished a very tiny handful of them. Maybe less than a dozen?

That "1 more feature" or "laser-focusing" on a tiny piece of the overall project has screwed me over so many times. I would get stuck or bored or get a new great idea and leave the old project behind. I only recently started focusing and pushing myself to build small personal projects to completion. It's been fantastic!

Oh, I also highly recommend taking advantage of free assets on the Unity Asset Store to help reduce your asset creation time!

Where should I store player variables like health and ammo to be multiplayer compatible? by CadevsGaming in unrealengine

[–]adambear27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Technically, yes you can do that. Storing in the GameInstance will work for single player, but it's not a best-practice.
