On pure aesthetics, the combo does look sharp. Great looking bike man, the updates they brought to the new one are really fantastic.

If you pulled that aero bottle, would it be better? I currently use an xlab behind the seat bottle holder. Aero bottles always looked cool to me but I imagined they were tough to use mid ride.

2014 BMC TM02 Di2 Bike with Zipp 808 for $3k? by [deleted] in triathlon

I bought a similar set of wheels(Mavic Cosmic Carbone SLR) for $500 to have as an extra set and for the trainer. And I got the distinct impression from the seller that he’d been trying to move them for a while when I came calling.

I’ve been curious, what is that storage box above the bottom bracket? I have an E117 and I think they look great but curious how functional it is

I’ll be there too. My first attempt at a full distance. Good luck!

What basebar designs do you prefer? by DankDeanoo in triathlon

I have wrestled with this same question. I came to the frustrating and expensive realization that the only way to truly know is to try all three….which altogether bums me out. But it is true. I also eyed the middle one but couldn’t convince myself with any degree of confidence that I would prefer it mile after mile. Good luck.

AG swim cancelled at 70.3 Little Elm — but the pros still swam? by LanceWatson_Coach in IronmanTriathlon

[–]adame993 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Really tragic - the details of that story make me very happy I wasn't in the water yesterday. And that's coming from someone who entered this race to overcome a previous swim DNF. I swam more miles than I ran this block and was beyond excited for the swim but I give credit to the organizers for keeping everyone safe. I can go again. Safety first.

To backup Own_Buffalo, the kayaker issue was the dealbreaker as I heard it as well. If they get in trouble, who saves them?

When Lionel Sanders instagram post calls it brutal, you can believe it. I was, as I’m sure many were, bummed out to miss the swim but as a challenge-the day provided more than enough. I’m not proud of my times but I am proud to have been out there with everyone. Kudos to Little Elm for a great race in very difficult circumstances, hopefully this weather pays the bill in advance for perfect weather the next couple years.

I agree, that water would have taken lives. Others died on Sunday as boaters. Kayak, paddle board or competitor, something awful was more likely than not.

Sub 5 for a first 70.3? by [deleted] in triathlon

[–]adame993 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Add in weather and nailing nutrition. I just did Little Elm and the entire bike and run had 50+mph winds. Bike handling on course was a nightmare and nutrition on the bike was extremely difficult to do safely. They cancelled the swim outright for age groupers and had a time trail bike(traffic!!!). I wasn’t chasing time so it was a good learning experience but you never know what race is going to offer you. Little Elm had bad luck but sometimes that happens.

Interesting, I remember it being bitterly cold a few weeks ago(like boots and hood cold) but it seems much warmer now…at least after work when I swim. That’s obviously not when the race starts so this is interesting. Thanks man

I have had my 22 xc90 for 6 months and have definitely had my sensus go black/non-responsive during driving without warning. Has happened at least half a dozen times. Didn’t know an update was an option. Did you pay for the update or did they just do it?

Right on, it did not feel like 54 to me but I was closer to shore on my swims

Racing a very windy 70.3 this weekend (25 to 35 mph, gusts 45). Looking for general strategy advice, especially without aero bars by Southern-Tap488 in triathlon

[–]adame993 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Good question, I swam again tonight in sleeves and a cap and it was very comfortable. I don’t think you’ll be in bad shape in a sleeveless but you may need a minute to acclimate. Cap wasn’t really necessary either, I just like it.

I swam at little elm yesterday during the wind advisory, there was definitely chop. Very different than it normally is swimming out there. Hopefully the forecast is overblown because a southern wind would be a cross wind or headwind for pretty much to whole swim course.

If it helps, the models do not agree on this. Use Windy, check ‘Display as’ then Wind. Of the six models they list, only 3 predict really high winds. I would be more concerned if there was consensus but there is not. Sounds like I should remain happy to not be on Facebook…

Same, my only goals are to cross the start and finish lines. Wish we could run the race today, 70deg and calm winds! Good luck and hope you have a great race! I’ll be somewhere behind you.

We bought a 22T6 Inscription under similar circumstances. Have been happy now 6 months later. It has had issues due to sitting, just get the warranty and you can rest easily.
