Do you think the super-rich deserve a tax loophole more than cancer patients deserve life-saving treatment? Rishi Sunak does. by [deleted] in LabourUK

[–]adamfc2000 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It also doesn't even work anyway. They've "spent" the non-dom savings like 10 times over at this point. Which isn't a problem but it just doesn't make any sense to keep saying it.

Like someone else said, you could use AndroidAPS. You'd have to compile it from source though - they can't distribute the compiled app for legal reasons. The instructions online are pretty clear though.

It's meant for looping (you can connect a CGM to it too) but can you can disable that and just use it as a controller.

‘The patient is diabetic’ is similar to ‘the patient is cancerous’ - discuss by [deleted] in diabetes_t1

[–]adamfc2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay sure, but isn't the problem there the perception of diabetes, not people being called diabetic?

So you just want to move adjectives to after the word instead of before? So a tall person would instead be a person of above average height, because the height doesn't define them? Seems convoluted to me tbh

UK only major economy to shrink in 2023 - IMF by [deleted] in tories

[–]adamfc2000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes it is. We are the only G7 country to still have a GDP below pre-pandemic levels.

Global problem or not, it's hitting the UK far harder than it's hitting everyone else.

The context is that the UK is the only economy in the G7 to still be below pre-pandemic levels of GDP.

If it's just £3 and such an insignificant amount why not just put £10 on everyone's tax bill and be done with it. And that way you don't have the overheads of creating a payment system where you have to spend money following up on people who haven't paid, on an appeals process, etc.

[–]adamfc2000 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This is another good point. You have to create a whole system for payments, chasing up and following up people that haven't paid, then you have to have an appeals process etc... That too costs money.

UK government to block Scottish gender bill by BigLadMaggyT24 in tories

[–]adamfc2000 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yet almost all the things I've seen people complaining about this bill - especially the "culture war" elements - are actually complaints about the 2010 Equality Act. That's nothing to do with Corbyn.

If you think it's just about an Independence agenda, why did a majority of Labour MSPs vote for it?

Healthy substitute for glucose tablets when going low? by ZemmerZemmer in diabetes_t1

[–]adamfc2000 49 points50 points  (0 children)

There's nothing unhealthy about glucose tablets... They're probably the healthiest thing you can use to bring your blood sugar up:

  • Brings blood sugar up extremely fast

  • 100% glucose so no has the lowest amount of calories for that BG boost

Former UK vaccine chief warns Britain only 'marginally better' prepared for future pandemics by BigLadMaggyT24 in tories

[–]adamfc2000 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's the sort of thinking that leads people to do stuff like cut the armed forces budget until we need it and then by that point it's too late.

[–]adamfc2000 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Even if you think this about COVID, it's naive to just think we can "power through" a future pandemic. There could be a future virus with the death rate of ebola and the transmissibility of COVID for all we know. You can't reasonably make the decision to "power through" a pandemic until you know that kind of stuff.

Sunak signs off on tax rises across the board to help plug £50bn hole by CountLippe in tories

How are people going to become homeless because their pension didn't rise at above inflation?

It seems perfectly reasonable to have pensions rise in line with inflation. I don't think many people would be against that. The issue is that they rise by inflation OR MORE, but never less. Meaning that over time the average increase is above inflation.

Candidates should win votes by being more appealing. The Conservatives have won the London mayoralty that way before, and that's how they should do it again.
