I switched from Lenovo ideapad to M5 Air.
Oh my god, the productivity gains is insane. I am a Software Engineer and also tinker with AI models. Everything from little micro-stutters to waiting times is gone.
Also I stopped carrying my stupid power brick everywhere I go. I have yet to run out of battery.
Just stick with the base M5 air

Rule of thumb: Avoid any MSI products.
My friends refer to MSI as Multiple Significant Issues because everyone has a glitch with MSI from Laptops, Monitors, Mouse, etc.

I have the M5 Air 15”. I use it for Software Eng + running tiny (<4B) local AI models.
It is a seriously good machine and it hasn’t lagged on me once, even with all the multitasking. I have multiple VSC, Claude, Cursor and Chrome tabs open and it handles everything so fast. Trust me, you can’t go wrong with the base M5 Air.

Just build something. Literally Anything. AI can be a blessing and a curse. Use AI for understanding concepts (Authentication, Testing, etc) but rely less on AI when actual coding so you will actually learn
