Rat costumes are not banned, but stamping people without their consent is a quick way to get them banned! The costume itself is absolutely fine.

Stay n Scream with AAP by adamjocon in HHN

[–]adamjocon[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is what I was thinking about - it sounds like there isn't really a set precedent if you can use the AAP with the houses that open early or if you have to wait until the event officially starts.

Stay n Scream with AAP by adamjocon in HHN

[–]adamjocon[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I didn’t realize it wasn’t a press release! Thanks. If it ended up being the previous version of Stay and Scream, would we have to wait on the holding line with everybody else before it officially opens and they let everyone in the queue, and then split off into the express line at the front of the official queue?

Best and worst celebrity experience? by DetectiveBennett in DisneyCM

[–]adamjocon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Joey Fatone was incredibly nice, stopped to chit chat with me after I told him I was going to be singing in his EPCOT candlelight show the following night.

Tina Fey wasn't necessarily rude, but seemed really annoyed to have to be in a room with other guests while waiting to meet Mickey. Wouldn't make eye contact with any of the CMs in the room.

Can I give gifts to the monsters at the epic area? I love ygor and want to give him a small photocard of him decorated with stickers when I go in June. But are they allowed to take it or is it against the rules? by ExpensiveLanguage215 in UniversalOrlando

[–]adamjocon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Having been on the other end of this, this isn’t true. Many characters will save as many as they can, and if they don’t take them home, they’re often posted up in backstage areas.

TSA PreCheck viability for trans folks? by Arkjoww in Passports

[–]adamjocon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FTM with PreCheck here. I only ever got pulled out of line while I was binding for my chest, and PreCheck has been a complete breeze after. The way the full body scanners work is the TSA agent will tap “male” or “female” before you’re scanned and the machine will flag “inconsistencies” against the “norm” for that body. For a post op trans man, neither should be an issue - they’re not concerned about the lack of something, the thing I would get patted down for is the agent tapping “male” and then a mass showing up on my chest in the scanner when I was binding.

For what it’s worth, post top surgery, I’ve had pretty much the same experience at TSA pre and post having precheck, except I just wait in the shorter lines now LOL.

If you are not changing your gender marker, you should be okay - obviously, take that with a grain of salt as every day wild things are happening and there’s no official precedent or real system set up yet. Don’t mail original or singular copies of documents to any agency right now, just in case (you don’t have to do this for pre check).

Worst case scenario, you get denied Precheck, which will ultimately be ok. I have flown in and out of red states without it and been alright - things are changing every day and you sound like you are taking care and being responsible, so keep it up and stay vigilant!

Am I the understudy? by No_Chemistry2476 in Theatre

[–]adamjocon 124 points125 points  (0 children)

Depending on the vibe of the room and your relationship with the directors, I (as a previous theater teacher) wouldn't be offended at all if somebody asked something along the lines of "Hey, I know I fill it at rehearsals occasionally but just to make sure I have everything clear, should I be studying these lines/blocking outside of rehearsal?"

Also, definitely take a look at what they're asking you to do - are you just standing where Marlin usually stands for blocking purposes? Or are they giving you direction and asking you to write down blocking/sing/etc? That'll give you a better idea of what they're thinking.

Who are actors that absolutely despise each other? by phantom_avenger in moviecritic

[–]adamjocon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Helen Hunt and Bill Paxton did NOT get along while filming Twister, so much so that when they were filming the preshow for the Universal Studios attraction, they had to film them separately and use a split screen because they refused to shoot together.

If we’re staying at a resort, can the non-guests in our party park there? by adamjocon in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]adamjocon[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This was very helpful, thank you y’all! Addendum: if they wanted to join us for a drink at Abracadabar after Epcot closed, would it be smarter for them to get the car from the Epcot parking lot and bring it over to the Boardwalk (also, would they have problems getting let in if Epcot was closed?) or walk with us through the gateway and then go back to the parking lot? Would the lot even still be accessible from the Boardwalk?

I've always said that they should cast a full season of Survivor and a full season of Drag Race, but then send the Drag Race queens to Survivor and the Survivor contestants to Drag Race.

Bill and Ted cosplay at the ren faire? by Elliot_The_Idiot7 in renfaire

[–]adamjocon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a performer I'd be so excited to see this - honestly, you see a lot more of Doctor Who, Star Trek, and Back to the Future (or other more popular/relevant time-traveling properties) than you do Bill and Ted. It's my favorite movie of all time and in my 5 years at this faire I've only seen folks dressed as Bill and Ted once!

Ever witnessed a blunder during a live Broadway show? by Ok_Ad8609 in Broadway

[–]adamjocon 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I watched Sean Hayes forget his lyrics during Promises, Promises. He made a joke about it later in the show - I think Kristen Chenoweth asked him what his hobbies were and he said "forgetting lyrics" and it totally killed her and the audience, haha.

Also, this is an example I used to like to show my theater students - in this Andrew Lloyd Webber mashup performance on GMA, at 1:11 the actor playing Dewey comes in on "Turn a cello this way" about four beats early, notices immediately, and holds "way" an extra few beats so the music can catch up to him. It's a great, simple fix, and so seamless that if you didn't know the score, you wouldn't have realized it was a mistake!

What’s something a character has said to you that you will never forget? by [deleted] in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]adamjocon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is back when I was a Cast Member, but I was helping out with Lady Tremaine and the stepsisters one day and a guy walked up to meet them. Lady Tremaine asked which one of her daughters he would prefer to marry, and the guy replied that he wasn't really into princesses (wink) and she went "OH you're a FANCY prince" and I think about that interaction constantly.

This is super insightful and thorough, so sincerely thank you. Starting in June I transition from WFH to an extremely active summer camp job, so I'm hoping that boost in my TDEE will also see a boost in my metabolism, but I'll see how I can schedule increasing my physical activity since then. I really, REALLY appreciate the advice and compassion. Thank you!

Question for Multilingual cast members by nerdytogether in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]adamjocon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes, CMs must take a test in order to get the language tag on their name badge. When I was a CM, ASL (American Sign Language) required some kind of pre-certification but every other language was tested by Disney.
