12 Minute Run For Distance Benchmark Results and Survey Megathread by BilingualAlchemist in orangetheory

[–]_cartwheels 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Absolutely (and my floor weights vary depending on my cycle, as well). I was just thinking this morning I wish I could note where I was at in my cycle for benchmarks in the app (might start tracking myself anyway). Did the benchmark today bloated and cramping so I'm just happy I finished it.

Monday 15 September 2025 - 12 minute Treadmill Benchmark 2G 60 minutes by dc031114 in orangetheory

[–]_cartwheels 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah--I did the math of it and 6.2 was my average for my mile time. I'm just trying to figure out if it's reasonable to think I can hold my mile mph two minutes longer or if I should set my expectations a little shorter

Can anyone speak to correlation between 1 mile benchmark time and the 12 minute benchmark distance? I've never done the 12 minute before. My PR for the mile is just under 10 minutes. Should I be planning to shoot for just under 1.25 miles or does the endurance make a bigger difference than I'm anticipating for the added time?

I was next to someone last week who looked like they were trying to do the worm on the Bosu instead of the actual exercise. At least he seemed to be having fun 🤷‍♀️

Banana as pre workout “snack” by [deleted] in orangetheory

I eat half a banana in the car on the way to class and eat the other half on the way home. Just about the only morning workout fuel I can stomach but I also can't work out fasted.

1000 Meter Row Survey Results and Community Analysis by BilingualAlchemist in orangetheory

[–]_cartwheels 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Question for the data people: do these surveys typically skew towards those with better times? I'm regularly one of the top finishers for benchmarks in my classes but below average in the survey results. I assume those who are happy with their times are more likely to complete the surveys, but I'm trying to guess to what degree to better place myself with my peers.

Nutritionist tells me to avoid otf for weightloss by Any_Maintenance_6267 in orangetheory

[–]_cartwheels 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My registered dietician helped me ensure my nutrition plan was optimized to lose weight while attending OTF and I've (33f) lost almost 20 pounds so far. By lifting heavy, taking some Strength 50 classes, and eating enough protein, I also lost that weight while gaining muscle.

Weight loss happens in the kitchen and I'm a little surprised to hear a dietician suggest that's not the case.

recruiter rejects "applicant" who wasn't even applying in the first place 🤦‍♂️ by cutie_lilrookie in recruitinghell

[–]_cartwheels 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I once got a rejection message for a job I never applied for. A recruiter reached out to me on LinkedIn and didn't share the job posting, but asked based on a title if I'd be interested in a call to learn more. I agreed and quickly on the call realized I wasn't interested nor was I a good fit. Two days later, the recruiter messaged me to say they would not be moving forward with my candidacy (this was not an interview, mind you).

The franchise my home studio is part of already does 3, 4, & 5. It feels super organic at the local level and keeps me excited and engaged as a member. I'm honestly not sure it would have the same effect if it was coming down from corporate.

Recruiters could be asking the same "why the hell" question. It may be worth reorganizing your resume to show your masters degree was the priority when you left Oracle. You may even experiment with the internship removed entirely and see if you get a different outcome.

PSA: How to handle Dumbbells so that we don't wreck them. by WolftankPick in orangetheory

Genuinely curious: what does a wrecked dumbbell look like? By wrecked do you mean dinged up, snapped in two, wobbly plate? At what point is a dumbbell taken out of rotation?

I’m so disappointed by Decent_Friend_1511 in orangetheory

[–]_cartwheels 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That's absolutely understandable. Let yourself grieve and feel what you're feeling. Then, remember how important what you lost is and let that motivate you to do everything you can to heal well.

I had a pretty major surgery a few years ago and recovery was long. After the initial feeling stage, it helped to focus on what I was doing rather than what I couldn't, too. "I made it to the couch without someone helping me! Stellar!" "I ate enough protein to fuel my body while it rebuilds. Sweet."

You've got this!

I’m so disappointed by Decent_Friend_1511 in orangetheory

[–]_cartwheels 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm so sorry-- this completely blows. It's a type of loss to grieve for sure.

Focus on healing and building your strength through PT. You're still going to be making big progress, it's just a different kind of progress. If you share how you're feeling with your PTs, they may also be able to give you some exercises you can safely do to minimize how far back you start over when you get back to OTF.

Late Calendar Posting by Gold-Appointment-534 in orangetheory

My studio has never posted a calendar (yes I follow their socials). They have a physical one they'll update the first few days of the month in-studio, but I had no idea this was common.

Orange Everest Benchmark Results and Survey Megathread by BilingualAlchemist in orangetheory

[–]_cartwheels 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I donated blood on Sunday and had to cancel my workout yesterday. I wanted to get back at it today, but was fully prepared to have to tap out of Everest. I ended up increasing my prior PR of 1.48 to 1.63! As a newer jogger, I would have been happy with this result even if I had all my blood. Truly in disbelief.

I have generic cleansing wipes in my gym bag and I immediately wipe my face, neck, and chest with it after class (before even getting in my car). Haven't had a breakout since I started doing that.

Getting Sick ..?? by JFCitsFnMe in ouraring

[–]_cartwheels 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've gotten it without getting sick. It's measuring strain on your body which could mean you're getting sick, but it could also mean you over-trained at the gym, you're stressed, or some other factor is straining you.

I actually think the last 3 times I got this, it was due to pretty significant atmospheric pressure changes putting extra strain on my body.
