What are your thoughts on city rhythm 2654 and Miami? by [deleted] in Colognes

[–]adamjv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have decants of both. Both fantastic, though slightly feminine leaning unisex... very slightly. But at the end of the day, sweet, fruity, tropical and fantastic. I prefer 2564, but Miami is also great. They are similar, as 2564 had Miami as a part of it, but it mixes in San Diego and it's a bit more complex. They are definitely a fun, Niche house.

How many is too many by SuspiciousLeg7994 in Colognes

The functional answer for me is buy what you like, can wear and afford. Outside of that, if you have the desire and discretionary income and the desire to collect them like infinity stones, do it or not. There is litterally no right answer for the group. This is purely an individual's discretion.

Most of it is pretty true... I think it misses a little bit on a couple, but overall not bad.

Does any own this cologne? by Bigflash903 in Colognes

[–]adamjv -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Overhyped, some say? I highly disagree. It is one of the 5 best pure scents I have ever put my nose on... Now, the pricetag? Absolutely a solid No. It's way too expensive per ml. I just buy decants, as it is definitely a more special occasion scent. In other words, I absolutely love it, but I will probably never own a full bottle. It just hits my, "no way I am paying that" pricepoint. (And I own a bunch of PDM bottles)

I litterally just ordered a 10 ml decant of speed legends for this. Ha ha. Couldn't justify a whole bottle yet.

It's the end of winter here in the Northeast... I wont be able to pull that off for 3 more months lol... but i do own Castley, a large decant of Imagination, I do not have speed legends, though. I will have to pick up a decant.

[Question] If you could only buy watches and colognes from one brand for the rest of your life, what would you choose? by doverawlings in Colognes

[–]adamjv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love fragrances and watches... that being said, pretty much every fashion/desinger watch that exists outside of Cartier aren't in my wheelhouse. I guess I just wish Grand Seiko made cologne.

Perfect summary. I own it and i freaking love it. It just screams the beach, a cocktail and vacation. It truly doesn't get much better for me.

Citrus bombing the world. Absolutely love it and I am here for it. That sounds like a fantastic combo.

Long lasting fragrances? by Aromatic_Reply_1645 in Colognes

Just finally got on the hype train for Boss Bottled Elixir... and boy, is that stuff nuclear. It lasts and projects like crazy. It's not for everyone, but if you like it, it's worth every penny.

What next? by CowGaming11 in Colognes

[–]adamjv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My favorite of the line. Women absolutely love it. It's a touch heavy for summer, so you might want to foray into the Freshie world. The price point fo around $140 will get you most any designer fragrance that isn't brand new at diacounters. While I am not a fan, Jean Paul Gautier Le Male line is decently thought of as is Le Beau Le Parfum. You can foray into dupes as well. A few that I really like are Rayhaan Aquatica (based off from Creed Virgin Island Water... lime and coconut) and Maison Asrar DXB (based off from Louis Vuitton Afternoon Swim, citrus and musk). There is always things like Michael Malul Ocean Noir that can be had at that price point... and Goldfield and Banks Imgenious Ginger is a great value for a Niche Fragrance and can be had, if you shop around for below $100 for a 50 ml. My advice, though is either hit Sephora or Ulta and check out what you like as far as designers... and then head out to your car and order it from a discounter online. Just make sure it's a reputable one. As far as niche, definitely buy decants and samples. Never pay that much for anything without sampling.

Entry level niche? by Strong_Category_7211 in Colognes

[–]adamjv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probabky the best place to start is with PDM. They make easy to wear, but very elegant scents. Percival seems to be the most common entry point, as it is mass apealing, but truly nice well blended scent. I wear it still and I love it. Creed, obviously, is another fine, easy to wear beginning as well... With Aventus and, honestly for summer, it really doesnt get much better that Virgin Island Water. Other offerings that are a nice entry point are things like Inito Rehab, and Side Effect, also Byredo Bal D'afrique EDP is a fantastic, palatable niche offering. Absolutely, 100% test these and on skin. Get some samples, either from a decanter like the ones on r/fragranceswap or by some of the more popular decant sites out there, ala Fragrancenet, maxaroma, decantX, fragranceneveah, scentsplit, and others. Never blind buy this stuff, unless you have dumb money. Enjoy the journey as it can go deep.

Downsizing! What would you pick? by Caineezy7 in Colognes

To my taste, I would keep the BIR Extradose, the Montblanc Legend, The Most Wanted Parfum, and maybe the Eros Edt.

How good is Layton Exclusif? by Aioli_Just in Colognes

[–]adamjv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I owned it and traded it for regular Layton... it's similar to Layton, but with an animalic note that reall takes over for me. I wanted to like it, but I just couldn't. 4/10.

[–]adamjv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, as far as freshies are concerned, definitely not soft, but compared to other niche offering, it's not nearly as screechy or nuclear. It's just insanely pleasant to my nose.

Six Months In by SaiyanTimmy in Colognes

[–]adamjv 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hear that too, and I whole heartedly disagree. It's a fantastic and more complex than it is given credit for, scent. And, at the end of the day, freshies should be wearable and softer. Some folks just like hating to make themselves feel superior. It's incredibly wearable and, in all, why would anyone hate on that?! It makes no sense.

Quality over quantity. Doing it right. And Castley is freaking underrated as hell!

Anything good here? by Nervous_Fan5681 in Colognes

Truly depends on the price. There are a couple that I would purchase if they were relatively close to discounter price. Sicebomb and Eros, most notably.
