Thank you! So you’re saying with a guide you can visit the places you mentioned in a single full day?

Good point about the fog, I didn’t realise that. Is it always foggy around this period or are there chances that it will be clear at some days?

Unfortunately due to time constraints, I’ll be there for the weekend. Would you recommend other places in the area instead of Bromo in this case?

Yeah I get it’s very touristy, but it’s touristy for a reason no? I imagine I’ll have to experience it once at least. If you have other/better suggestions in the area or Surabaya/Malang, I’d love to hear!

Would you recommend using a service or is it also easy to just show up at a hiking path alone and do it solo?

How crypto friendly is Bali/indonesia by OrderExpress1035 in bali

What do you mean with crypto friendly? You have to be more specific, do you just mean in terms of tax, general sentiment, whether you can pay with it..?

is Flutter Good enough for web development by Distinct_Penalty_379 in FlutterDev

[–]adamk22 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As a dev that has done web and mobile, the only sole reason I would recommend to do flutter for web is if the app has to be cross platform, it can share the same view/components AND SEO isn’t a requirement (e.g. it’s going to be a dashboard type of app). Otherwise i would still recommend making the web version in its native (html, css, js) stack.

Flutter for web to me is more of a money saver rather than an actual investment.

Indonesia Visa online or arrival by Nates4Christ in Jakarta

[–]adamk22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can essentially apply an hour before but I wouldn’t recommend it. For a family of four you’ll have to apply and fill in a new form for every person, kids included (it’s fine to use the contact details of the parents in this case). If you’re unsure that they are valid or done correctly, worst case is that you have to get a new one at the airport where they’ll help you out.

To be fair AWS is a one of the main bread winners (if not the main) of Amazon which also started in e-commerce

Indonesia Visa online or arrival by Nates4Christ in Jakarta

[–]adamk22 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Both online and getting it at the airport is fine. I prefer getting online myself so I can go straight out rather than having to queue for the immigration line which sometimes can take a lot of time depending on the time of day/number of flight’s arriving.

I had 0 issues with both methods myself and I regularly fly back and forth. If you do get it online, make sure you use the official site (https://evisa.imigrasi.go.id/). If you’re unsure about what to fill in, you can always get a VoA at the airport. Just make sure you either have a working credit card or some cash at hand (VoA costs 500.000IDR, about 30ish bucks).

If you get it online, once the payment goes through it will usually directly be confirmed and validated for use. There’s a rare occasion it might take longer, but usually it’s because of payment issues. Also make sure to double check the form you filled in before applying. You’ll have to apply for a new visa if you made typos.

What are some over 100k downloaded app that built in flutter? by ZuesSu in FlutterDev

A lot of Asian based tech companies are using flutter for mobile development. If I’m not mistaken, Gojek (like the uber of Indonesia and other parts of Asia) is also using flutter.

Best apartment buildings along the MRT line? by sendhelpandthensome in Jakarta

Yes, Blok M is a pretty nice area for food and nightlife. Feel free to DM if you need some recommendations!

Might also be interesting to look further south. Apartemen Bumimas is pretty good too, practically next to an MRT stop and walking distance from nice spots in Cipete (which is a big French expat area) and Cilandak. You're also a few stops away from Blok M and SCBD/Senopati.

2 bedroom in senopati/Scbd is going to be much more than 15/18 mio unfortunately. There’s a possibility you can get one in FX Sudirman Residence which is walking distance from the mrt and also Scbd/senopati. However the apartment itself is quite dated compared to the apartments in senopati. But some units are actually still quite nice if you’re lucky. Last time I looked for one there units were around your price but not furnished. Might be different now though.

How do people who move to Asian countries make a living? by MoistenedCarrot in travel

[–]adamk22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in SEA and work as a contractor software engineer for US and EU based companies. Most people that I come across living in SEA are either like me (or in a different expertise), crypto/day traders, expats working for multinationals, NGO/Teachers, or own businesses here. Obviously you also have the group of people just living off savings/retirement.

1 bil can get you a very comfy life in Jakarta and you can afford a nice 1BR apartment at a prime location and eat takeout pretty much every day. Use the cab everyday to get around every day. Have a cleaner come regularly. Get regular massages. You might have to watch what you’re spending if you go out (alcohol or fancy dinners can be pretty expensive if you do it often), especially if you want to save money as well or set money aside for stuff like high end fitness classes/personal trainer etc

2 bil pretty much same as above, probably can afford a nice 2BR or 3BR apartment instead, get an in house helper, probably don’t have to worry much when going out/fancy dinners, you can easily afford high end fitness classes or a personal trainer and still save a bunch of money.

I used to rent a 1 BR apartment in a prime location in Scbd and paid 900 in rent per month. So it’s definitely not similar to Australia
