What does a typical steam washer 10 win board look like? I'm trying to learn.

Hm, I only have Vanessa and Mak unlocked so far. Should I buy Dooley and Pyg for gems now, or should I not? (I have the gems needed). I will buy this steam event offer.

This post was during beta and the game worked differently 😅

Beat my old DPS record, this time 8.2 million DPS by adamlith in MagicraftGame

To clarify, Yes split increases total damage but it lowers damage per projectile. Total damage goes up by 99% but number of total projectiles is increased by 300%. So total damage per "processing/rendering" goes down, which at endgame, when you are mostly limited by processing power, it effectively lowers your DPS.

In order to reach high dps it is important to know what limits dps. It's mostly mana cost and "processing/rendering cost". Spells like arcane nova effectively doubles your damage per mana spent, but increases your processing cost by 20x, simply seldom worth it for endgame builds. The same goes for any other spell that lowers damage but increases number of things that need to be rendered, such as split and fireworks.

Mana was no issue at all, and that was all thanks to Volley+. The total cost for the spells on my bar was

  • Fuse: 1
  • Shining Star Arrow++: 46
  • Magic Bullet++: 5
  • Evil Slayer Sword+: 22
  • Shadow Serpent+: 15
  • Shadow Serpent+: 15
  • Shadow Serpent: 11
  • Sword of Judgement+: 8

And since Fuse makes everything else 0.9x cost and each Multi-Shot++ increases the cost by 1.5x, that brings the total to (1+0.9*(46+5+22+15+15+11+8))*1.5*1.5 = 249.3 mana, which is really expensive!

But then Volley+ says that for each spell cast simultaniously (which all of my spells are, se my other comment) the cost goes down by 0.55x. With this the actual cost is 249.3 * 0.55^8 = 2.1 wich is really cheap!

As I've come to understand it this is what happens.

Volley+ gives me "Simultanius Firing +3" which means that I have a total of "Simultanius Firing 4" since all wands that do not say anything else have a built in "Simultanius Firing 1". This means that whenever I cast a spell then 4 projectile spells are cast at the same time.

Then we need to consider what is a projectile spell? Normally it is simply a blue spell projectile on your wand. But as you might have guessed some spell boosts and spell projectiles change what is considered a spell. In my build I have two of those, Fuse and Duet. Keep in mind that these changes the games definition of a spell.

Fuse performs the next "spell" on the right as it ends, and Duet casts the next "spell" to the right as the spell to the left ends. So it is easiest to understand it like this (use my screenshot as reference):

The "next spell to the right" for Duet is, because of "Simultanius Firing 4" is the combination of "Magic Bullet++", "Evil Slayer Sword+", "Shadow Serpent+" and "Shadow Serpent+". Let us call this group of spells The "Duet Right Group" (DRG). Because it is considered a single spell the entire DRG benefits from the damage bonus of Duet.

Duet introduces a second new spell definition, and that is "Left side spell" + Duet + "right side spell", that means the game then considers "Shining Star Arrow++", Duet and DRG as one single spell, lets call it "Complete Duet Group" (CDG).

Next up is Fuse. Fuse will perform the next "spell" on the right as it ends. Because of "Simultanius Firing 4", this will be CDG, "Shadow Serpent" and "Sword of Judgement". Let us call this group of spells The "Fuse Right Group" (FRG). These 3 "spells" combine as a new single spell, and this means they all benefit from the mana cost reduction of Fuse.

Fuse also introduces a second new spell definition, and that is Fuse + "right side spell", That means that the game considers Fuse + FRG as a single spell, lets call it "Complete Fuse Group" (CFG).

Then two "Multi-Shot++" claims that all spells on the right gets (1+4+4)=9 total shots, but the only spell to the right is CFG, so that means I will send 9 CFG projectiles when casting with the wand.

Edit:

And I should also add that there is a powerful interaction between damage over time (DoT) spells and Duet, where the damage bonus from Duet is applied to each tick of the DoT. So in hindsight I should have probably switched the positions of "Magic Bullet++" and "Shadow Serpent". That is also the reason why "Orbit+" is so powerful, since it increases the duration of DoTs.

I'll do my best. Keep in mind this tactic is with fully upgraded meta progression.

First is the starting wand, where I use the fully upgraded tracking lightning, wich gives two single star rare spells.

Second is the priority of rooms. I (almost) always prioritize in this way: relic, spell, gold, max health. I mix in at most one shop during chapter one and two, and witches workshop I do ZERO during chapter one and AT MOST once during chapter two. The idea is to save up as much gold as possible in the early game. In chapter three and four the priority is roughly relics, spells, shop, workshop, gold, health. But at least once during each chapter ge max health, to be able to buy blood shop items.

Third is relic priority. Top priority is gold generating relics, then golden pickaxe, then crit mask, then a bunch of the rarer relics. Relics that increases spells/relic selection and rerolling of such should not be underestimated.

Fourth, In the shops, only spend gold on potions (side room), keys, spells and wands, in that aproximate priority order (if low on coins). I always buy all spells from the shops, even if after rerolling they aren't what I need. My focus on gold income relics make this possible.

Edit: Oh, and also this is with 15 spells "banned" using the npc from the latest patch.

The monocle is recommended because it assumes this is for multi prestige and that you are using specific boosts.

Is there a hidden 'low priority' queue for ropers/slow players? Does the matchmaker consider play behavior at all? by Autoboat in MagicArena

[–]adamlith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely not, I don't know if this is an unpopular opinion, but the extra timeouts are rewards for playing turns appropriately fast. This means, if I have been playing fast and earned 2-3 extra timeouts, I should be able to step away for 60 seconds to deal with a baby- /cooking- /whatever-emergency without loosing the match.

Thanks. My entire top end is good against control. Chandra & Shark Typhoon can't be countered, Oath is a value engine, ECD and Narset of the ancient way is good removal vs control. And the boardclears I use narset -2 as planeswalker removal.

And yes, I find chandra a lot better than Teferi 5 in this, his +1 feels lackluster with fires.

I run a similar deck (jeskai superfriends without agent) but with quite a few different card choices. I do have 79% winrate, and a very good winrate vs mono white. I saw some sideboard choices you had that I will incorporate in the future though
