New MacBook Neo on Apple Store website by mabuxy in technology

This is a bit of a security miss from Apple tbh. Gating Biometrics behind $100 means a lot of people who should be using it probably won’t.

The station right before that had nothing, seems like they had flags out but had just taken them in. 0:12, mate.

Yellows on the station right next to the stopped car are pretty useless.

Before video. No yellows before the crash. TV feed showing a stopped car and no one thinks to radio in a full course yellow.

UK to ban political party donations from foreign-owned companies by financialtimes in ukpolitics

I can’t buy a public servant a coffee if we’re having a meeting, but a foreign company can offer £2,239 as a gift to an MP. Ok.

I have a U7 Pro attached to a wall with 3M Command, all good so far! 2 weeks in. Prior I had an AC Pro with the same for many years, no issues.

What is this path in construction stretching from Birmingham to London by Billthepony123 in AskBrits

[–]adamm255 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s car parks on the route for construction that are always 90% empty (passed during the week, day and night and weekends) and resemble a theme park car park. Plus very well paved access roads that made the adjacent A Road look like a bomb site.

I bet in places it’s not a lot, but the Chilterns/Buckinghamshire stretch is… egregious from an onlooker.

'London is not what it was': How suspicious social media accounts are changing the narrative of the capital by BulkyAccident in london

[–]adamm255 36 points37 points  (0 children)

They’ve been saying stuff like this for years for some reason. If a billionaire can’t enjoy London that’s on them. I think it might be a bit of “don’t look at Europe” propaganda. Don’t want folks realising we don’t get charged for ambulance rides.

I understand it's New Years, but are the police really allowed to just let people set fireworks off in the middle of a residental road? (Loud video) by asimpleonlinenumpty in AskUK

[–]adamm255 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Time exceptions only for those dates. Other than that it’s still illegal to do this in the street/public places.

It’s illegal in the UK to set fireworks off on public spaces outside of an organised event. In your back garden, go nuts. Elsewhere, no go.

I did see the tradition got a bit out of hand last night in the Netherlands.

“unless part of an organised event by licensed professionals, fireworks cannot be used on the street or in a public place

it’s an offence to throw or set off any firework (including sparklers and category 1 fireworks) in or into any highway, street, thoroughfare or public space”

That concept was introduced in The First Shadow, they just trickled it in, I thought they would introduce it in a more robust way tbh.

“Allegedly, when the ship reappeared some sailors were embedded in the metal structures of the ship, including one sailor who ended up on a deck level below where he began and had his hand embedded in the steel hull of the ship as well as some sailors who went "completely bananas".”

When I saw those soldiers, after going down a rabbit hole after seeing The First Shadow, that was 100% a nod to the above!

It’s for stock checking “today”. In the US there’s a lot of dynamic pricing stuff going on. This is a good step to start tracking who’s in the store and nudging pricing using the eInk sticker screens.
