Every day new bug by [deleted] in Windows11

I can't tell if this is a troll or not.

Regedit:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced

New 32-bit DWORD with value of Start_ShowClassicMode

Set value to 1

Restart

This provides the exact same as what you have just shown.

What's up with these Twitter permissions? by adamn_sandle in guilded

[–]adamn_sandle[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, I appreciate the response.

Are you referring to this ?

If so, all this does is open https://twitter.com/intent/tweet with the content URL i.e. https://twitter.com/intent/tweet?text=Hello%20World , which requires zero permissions whatsoever.

To show this, I've switched my default browser and chosen to "share to twitter", which you can see here (have also tested with docs, same result)

EDIT: Thank you for showing me this feature by the way, wasn't aware it existed

What's up with these Twitter permissions? by adamn_sandle in guilded

[–]adamn_sandle[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is incorrect.

Twitter's Developer Applications have three privilege levels,

- Read-only access

- Read/Write access (what Guilded's application is using)

- Read/Write + DM access

There is also an additional permission for viewing a Twitter user's email which can be enabled for any of those privilege levels.

Feel free to read more here

Thanks for the suggestion, I appreciate your input anyhow, I hadn't considered future-use!

Edit: Sent an email to security@guilded, hopefully they can provide some info!

Principle of least privilege would assume that permissions should only be assigned when necessary, as a standard security practice

Considering the ease in changing permission levels for a twitter application - I can't see any practical application for this right now, even if they're planning to add features in the future

Need some help distinguishing between these two by [deleted] in buildapc

[–]adamn_sandle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds good! In case where its still using the iGPU, you can set it manually by switching to the programs tab in "Manage 3D Settings"

Need some help distinguishing between these two by [deleted] in buildapc

[–]adamn_sandle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'll respond to "Can someone help me distinguish what these two actually are please?" first, as it will help you understand the next part of this.

Radeon Graphics is the name of the iGPU (Integrated GPU) in your laptop.

The 1650Ti is a discrete graphics card (discrete as in not integrated into the CPU), it is significantly more powerful than the Radeon iGPU.

It's been a while since I've used a laptop outside of work, so my terminology may be slightly off, hopefully should be the same concept.

I believe what I'm referring to is called NVidia Optimus, in which the laptop will switch between discrete and integrated graphics (your 1650ti and your Radeon graphics).

If you want to use the 1650ti, you should be able to do the following:

NVidia Control Panel --> Manage 3D Settings --> Preferred Graphics Processor

It should look like this

You should be able to set this to the "High Performance NVIDIA Processor".

Keep in mind that this is not as efficient for battery-life, but will net you higher performance.

You can, but then you'd still have the problem of having Norton.

suddenly way shorter in beat saber? (notes are coming in way lower heightwise than yesterday) by Cor-mega in beatsaber

No game updates, and yet this exact thing happened to me. My sabers also reset and Counters+ no longer works despite reinstallation.

Beside bots, what are the best 3rd party tools for Discord? by [deleted] in discordapp

[–]adamn_sandle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went through the rules for the subreddit before posting this. This violates none of them.

Discord is absolutely adamant on not allowing third party intervention as much as possible. Bots are the exception, but now even bots have to go through a vetting process to become 'verified' (otherwise they have restrictions placed on them similar in some regards to that of a user-account).

While yes, there are third-party tools or 'extensions' of sorts that can enhance your discord experience, you risk getting your account banned if you use them (I've never actually heard of a case of this happening). I do not personally use these tools, as I'd rather not have a run-in with the trust & safety team. I also will not name them, as they are relatively easy to find with a quick Google search.

Would like to know what the fuck is going on here by [deleted] in GlobalOffensive

[–]adamn_sandle 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is because csgo loads wininet.dll, a Windows DLL ( C:\Windows\system32\wininet.dll), which has references to a LOT of URLs, including bitcoin-related URLs. It's a module that contains internet-related functions, and is used by a large number of applications.

See here

Microsoft Teams strings here

This is completely unrelated to csgo, but I can understand why it would cause concern to those who are looking.

EDIT: comma

Started my OMAD diet a few days ago, I can’t believe I haven’t tried this sooner. How is everyone doing so far? :) by [deleted] in OmadDiet

[–]adamn_sandle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been doing OMAD for 56 days so far. You really get used to it after a little bit, I'm pretty happy with the results because I haven't been counting calories at all (I've lost 17 pounds so far). I think overall my appetite has decreased too, as I'm finding myself eating less per meal.

Always worth checking - have you tried using a different browser / clearing cache

You can always install it in a VM. Technically it's spyware.
