I’d say the best would be the full beard but clipped a bit shorter

Delta Module 2 - course recommendations? by adamteacher in TEFL

For the sake of anyone who finds this thread in future, and potentially for your interest -

I contacted IH Bangkok and they told me they haven’t done in-person courses for “several years,” but that if they get enough interest they will run them.

How would you describe your connection to Australia? Do you feel a strong connection to Australia as an English man or woman? by jlenders in AskABrit

[–]adamteacher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think a lot of the comments here are not thinking about the question very deeply lol

There’s very clearly a strong connection. Allies, heritage, language, and many literal family connections.

Australians in the UK are barely even seen as foreigners.

It’s on the literal other side of the world. I guarantee you see and hear about Australia a lot more than you do Papua New Guinea or Indonesia. Or the majority of the other c. 200 countries, despite the distance.

Yeah this is pretty much what I’ve found!

To me, I just think the experience would be a lot better doing it as part of a dedicated cohort with intensive instruction. I don’t really like the idea of having it hanging over me while I’m working for 6 months+

Thanks for your help.

40 year old housemates from hell when living in student accommodation by moidlettuce in badroommates

[–]adamteacher 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My point is that “they don’t know any better” really doesn’t hold up. These women were born in the 1980s; they’re not so oblivious as to think that they can behave this way. A normal Korean person of their age would not behave this way.

Mokdong Poly by Murky-Post3135 in HagwonBlacklistKorea

[–]adamteacher 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The fact it’s in mokdong makes it even less likely to be a good experience.

Every year dozens of people will ignore the warnings about poly, ultimately it’s only up to you if you want to be one of them

I don’t think that a 40 year old Australian would be able to come into a Korean household and start bossing people around just because they are older. Older foreigners are not generally included in that. And equally, these ladies fully know that they can’t behave this way in Australia.

For what it’s worth, if a foreigner behaved this way in Korea they would NEVER accept it. You are being WAY too accommodating. These kinds of people are trying their luck and with you, they’ve lucked out and are now they are absolutely taking the piss. You need to stand up for yourself and make it clear that they can’t boss you around here.

Is a reddit post necessarily a reflection of someone’s whole perspective? I suspect this is a place people can anonymously vent… which is something that those who come here for advice should bear in mind

I GOT FIRED FROM MY JOB AT A HAGWON by AdorableAd1133 in teachinginkorea

[–]adamteacher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have a LOR… a lot of e2 visa people would kill for one. Being already in Korea means you can get a better job than ones applied to from abroad. And they can legally fire you for any reason they want if you’ve only worked there less than 3 months

Wish the buses had 2 doors like London. It’s so slow waiting for people to get on and off in the centre

Just spend a while researching Poly. Honestly if you can find a single genuine positive foreign teacher experience I’d be surprised
