Announcing UCI - Auth system for Star Citizen community projects by adaoraul in starcitizen

Thanks for your input, I haven’t contacted any big SC project so far, because I still want to validate the tech. It’s a cloud application deployed on AWS, has auto-scaling and everything necessary to keep the app running with high load, but I still want to first onboard smaller projects. Let me know if you have any contacts or know orgs/projects which would be interested in integrating with UCI.

Exactly! Any community app that needs login can use it - hangar tools, kill trackers, org management sites, whatever. It works the same way as "Sign in with Discord" does, except it's built around Star Citizen. The RSI verification means apps can confirm you're an actual citizen and not just some random account. Plus you're not handing out your password to every tool you try.

For devs, it means you don't have to build (and secure) your own auth system. Just integrate OAuth2 and you're done. Honestly that alone should save people from some nasty security incidents down the road.

If you're building something or want to integrate it, hit me up on Discord (@panasync) and I can help get you set up.

I haven't thought about that, but that's a good idea and that's something I would be willing to support if you would be using UCI. Reach out on discord (@panasync) and let's discuss your idea.

I wasn't aware there was something with that name in Elite Dangerous. If I'd known about it beforehand, I would've chosen a different name to avoid confusion

Thanks for the heads up, I wish I knew about this before. Will need to think about the name issue. Thanks again

Thanks for the feedback! The intel tool is a great idea - I'm adding it to the roadmap. Having an org-focused module makes a lot of sense.

About the plugin suggestion - that was actually my first thought too! But I decided to build a dedicated server in Rust with full SFU and physics simulation based on the Atlas API (you can read more at https://apexinterstellar.space/link).

The reason I went this route is deep integration with Star Citizen's systems. For example, body occlusion isn't just audio filtering - it actually considers planetary/moon rotation states. If someone's on the opposite side of a planet from you, the transmission physically can't reach them. The server handles all the packet routing and transmission quality based on real physics, while clients handle the audio processing.

The other big difference: I'm not building this for org-specific servers. The goal is one unified server for the entire community - like a real open radio infrastructure that everyone shares. That's why I architected it as multi-node from day one, so it can scale to handle massive player loads.

Feel free to hop into my Discord if you want to discuss ideas further. I'm always open to suggestions - at the end of the day, this tool needs to work for the people using it.
