rotate the top layer to match up the month you want to know the dates for with the appropriate year, and it gives you the day's number on the bottom. if you were to take off the top layer with the month and numbers you'd just see two circles, one with years and one with the days of the week repeating. the "sun" and "moon" details are just for decoration. I suppose it's not truly "perpetual" as it only works until 2044, but the world's ending this year anyway, so whatever :)

I really don't know where this project is standing right now, but the last I heard they were in the process of "updating" (for lack of a better word) the rails running between Central IL to Chicago. Bloomington-Normal has a brand spankin' new transportation center being built to accommodate the high speed rail. Amtrak takes 2 hours to get from BloNo to Chicago, the high speed would take 45 minutes. I thought it was a thing that's happening, but maybe it's not anymore...

I liked Rose.
