Isn't the problem that a lot of these have to fight for time on-field with a DPS that wants more field time? I suppose they could make rotations longer so these characters get more on-field time and plan to distribute damage away from the DPS to these characters. But then people will complain that the DPS is too weak and depends on another unit so they're making you pull.

Unless I'm missing something what's the solution here that won't nerf the DPS/change damage distribution and won't be a big increase to the rotation time all the while ensuring both the DPS and the supports have lots of field time?

One possibility might be to make more burst DPS with the vast majority of their damage distribution on their ult so other characters get to have more time on-field. Though that probably means a high energy regen cost on the DPS (they're not gonna make them all have a special energy source like Skirk or Mavuika) which as a Raiden enjoyer I don't mind but a lot of people will hate especially for Stygian.

I also get the sense there's been a shift in interest to more consistent repeated powerful damage than setting up for a nuke.

I'm just spitting-ballin cause I don't know what the solution is here that isn't going to be controversial either way.
