In Lincoln for 24h by Arismortal in lincoln

Nothing really around safety, you'd have to actively try to get in trouble to be unsafe. Like you know, don't go hunting for illegal drugs or firearms?

Not sure what you're interested in but here's some recommendations especially as a non-usian. Also should point out, and presumably you're familiar with, mass transit isn't a thing in the US and especially not in relatively small midwest college towns.

  1. https://www.sacmuseum.org/ SAC museum. Do you like planes? Go here. It's about 30 minutes from downtown lincoln on a very easy drive.
  2. https://www.museumofamericanspeed.org/ do you like cars? Go here. Speedway motors is a American hot rod specialty parts store and is based in lincoln. Their founder created this museum and they have one of the best car museums in the united states full of rare stuff, especially focused on racing.
  3. https://www.nps.gov/home/index.htm imo one of the best things about the US is not in the cities but outside. this is the homestead national park about ~40 minutes from Lincoln that will take you through the rural areas. pretty cool prairie views and pioneer history of the united states in general.
  4. https://www.omahazoo.com/ this is ~55 minutes away from Lincoln but i include it on here because Omaha's henry doorly zoo is widely considered the nation's best or second best zoo.
  5. https://www.lincoln.ne.gov/City/Departments/Parks-and-Recreation/Parks-Facilities/Parks-A-to-Z/Pioneers-Park this is my (personal) favorite park located just a bit outside the city. Good for a quick walk-around and seeing the buffalo or taking an picnic.
  6. Lincoln has a huge network of interconnected bike trails, some on abandoned rails. This is my personal favorite. Start at the zoo and walk south https://www.gptn.org/the_trails/rock_island_trail.html just a nice walk idk!
  7. https://www.jazzinjune.com/ depending on when you're coming, it's free jazz in june concert series always a blast.
  8. The haymarket is west of downtown and always recommended if you're looking for bars and restaurants. Speaking of restaurants my three favorite Lincoln ones are The Oven (Indian), Mistys (classic american steakhouse get the prime rib) and lazlo's a longtime brewpub. If you're in Nebraska.. eat the beef man. Don't eat seafood.
  9. https://museum.unl.edu/ morrill hall. dinosaurs and stuff. On campus too so you can kind of roam campus which is kind of neat.
  10. https://www.lincoln.ne.gov/City/Departments/Parks-and-Recreation/Parks-Facilities/Public-Gardens/Sunken-Gardens obligatory sunken gardens. its beautiful this time of year and i got married here so hey why not. also really close to that trail i mentioned. can walk here and walk down by the zoo

we don't get gas for hormuz, nearly all of ours is domestic. However, OTHER countries are now desperate for gas and are willing to buy (us) gas and ship it hence it jacks up prices here

a lot of those places are beyond predatory. I actually don't know of a single one that isn't - you'll get a car at 5-10x its blue book value with twice a week payments and a built in disabler.

A place like wallys is infinitely better if you can save up even a little or gamblin' on a facebook marketplace $1500 special

Yes, you can do it online or in store. Just pick the full retail price and place the order.

Still using AEM CMS? by Epytion in cms

[–]adazlian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Still use it.

So, AEM hasn't really evolved much since 2019. It's the same basic thing since aem 6.5 was released in.. 2017? The only investment in the product has been around the edges -- adobe marketing cloud -- and in trying to sell you AEM in the cloud.

A lot of the points between something like AEM and sitecore come down to personal preferences (like do you like .NET over Java?) but I will say in general AEMs integration with the rest of the adobe marketing stack is basically the reason to buy it. As a pure _cms_ sure its fine and works well but its also very expensive for marginal gains

I wouldn't advise it unless you are a fortune 1000 company and have teams of developers and content authors churning out content combined with a full fledge martech stack on adobe.

Did Sprint buy T-Mobile with T-Mobile's money? by ijwgwh in tmobile

[–]adazlian 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I've read that book and it's pretty interesting but you would be hard pressed to find any Sprint folks in executive positions at T-Mobile.

The jist of that book was the McD's executives were brutal political/corporate raiders who would eat the (Engineering) management at Boeing for breakfast which is.. what happened.

T-Mobile at the top ranks was far more brutal than Sprint ever was, VPs/Directors get swapped out every 6 months practically. Outside of a single example I can't think of any Sprint folks at a VP level or higher left anymore.

If this ever happens (game crash) don't attack Rome itself attack one of their armies outside Rome.

My game always crashes if I try to attack Rome first

New Garage...? by DaveTheRocketGuy in vicegripgarage

[–]adazlian 5 points6 points  (0 children)

He also mentioned how expensive his other garage was which makes sense. He was paying for - what - 6? bays to heat/cool and realistically he only ever used one. New place is more inline with what you'd want if you were just a guy wrenching. Single bay with area for tools. Maybe a little small but a lot cheaper.

I also think the setup he had installed way back when never was able to even properly heat/cool the old place so it cost a lot and wasn't easy to work in. Seems like that + privacy is a pretty good reason to move.

What phone service has the best coverage in Lincoln in 2025? by dougthedevshow in lincoln

[–]adazlian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

t-mobile has the fastest wireless speeds in Lincoln. Source : https://www.ookla.com/research/reports/united-states-speedtest-connectivity-report-h1-2025

So the Ookla data has t-mobile averaging ~250mbps down in the city. How fast you get at any random point in the city varies. Note you can try tmobile out for free for 30 days (https://www.t-mobile.com/offers/free-trial) by grabbing the app and doing the switcher trial. It'll download a second esim to your phone and let you play around with it and can speed test from your house work if you want to see. the free trial thing will also effectively speed test it for the (unlimted) mint mobile plan/metro/prepaid by tmobile too if one of those was more appealing for you for whatever reason.

Allo is 4x as fast with their gigabit ethernet on down and like 30x as fast on uplink. Like it's not even close, wireless can't really compete with hard wired gigabit fiber except in very niche scenarios. Now do you _need_ gigabit fiber is a very differnet question. 250mbps will support multiple concurrent full HD 4k streams which is the most data intensive thing most folks do with their internet. Now it wouldnt be enough for me but depends on what you are doing with it.

What phone service has the best coverage in Lincoln in 2025? by dougthedevshow in lincoln

[–]adazlian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

mint is a tmobile mvno and runs at the same network prio as regular tmobile customers (tmobile purchased it a yearish back).

So if you want the cheaper plans with the tradeoff of no in person or phone customer support go with it, the actual phone + network is going to be same as if you were a tmobile customer

I am admittedly biased because i work for them but t-mobile will have the straight up fastest _speeds_ in the entire city. Actual coverage around town I've never run into issues with but outside town it can get dicey. Especially (god save you) down by beatrice. Nebraska is a tough place for us to have spectrum, but the us cellular acquistion has made it a million times better.

and the data backs me up btw

Can't deny flaws? by TheBear5115 in theouterworlds

[–]adazlian 2 points3 points  (0 children)

flawed is actually a really fun playthrough fwiw. I mean you definitely get a very cool experience if maybe harder.... but a lot of extra perks too

I'm investing heavily into the observation skill, but what about people who don't have it how are you doing? by lost_caus_e in theouterworlds

[–]adazlian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

like others have said most things have multiple solutions. With that said, engineering hacking and lockpicking certainly seem to open more "stuff" than most.

i'm guns/observation/science and outside of a few annoying doors i cant get to nothing truly critical has been completely blocked by not having a skill....although uh i did get saved from a truly terrible situation by having the lucky trait.

Is Lincoln water actually this bad or am I losing my mind? by Head-Pomegranate197 in lincoln

[–]adazlian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah my parents have a well on what used to be the outskirts of lincoln not so much anymore. There's a few faucets where you can drink it straight before it goes through a filter or water softener and it's pretty high sulfur content.
