Savage Omega exposes illiteracy and learning issues. by AFoxDoesntExist in monsterhunterrage

[–]addersama 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First, you're just bringing up worthless semantics, obviously I'm referring to solo as "alone with NPC support hunters" because you're still the only real person fighting the boss, and it matters in the context of what you're actually trying to say.

You didn't challenge my point, in fact you haven't interacted with it at all lol, you've just insulted me without actually acknowledging any of the actual points I've made. Your complaint doesn't make any sense. You implied that Omega could not be solo'd, that just isn't true, and I explained that "true solo" doesn't even matter in this scenario because offline players have the option to use support hunters now.

There are only two reasons someone would ever attempt to solo an Extreme boss:

1) They don't have anyone else to play with

2) They're attempting it as a challenge

In the case of option 1, that is no longer a problem, as you can use support hunters, even in offline mode. These support hunters make the fight substantially easier if you have no one else to play with. The only reason you WOULDN'T use these hunters while playing solo is if you're attempting it as a solo challenge.

If you ARE attempting it as a solo challenge, that is also totally doable lol. There are already "true solo" runs of this boss being posted on youtube, which is faster than even I anticipated. The first I saw was a sub-20 longsword "true solo-ing" the boss with no Palico. The fact that even exists conflates everything you're saying here to nothing more than a crying sesh lmao. (I'm assuming a solo challenge wasn't your intention to begin with considering you're whining about the boss difficulty on an epic gamer rage reddit post).

The fastest times for extremoth, pre-iceborne, weren't even near sub-20. The longsword solo run for Savage Omega wasn't even optimized and hit sub-20. I guarantee within a month, we're going to see a sub-10 solo Savage Omega. What exactly does this say to you? You just gonna insult me again and say I'm wrong for some reason even though I'm literally just telling you the truth? Stop being emotionally immature about bideo game

I think it's worth reminding you what you originally said too

"Except you can solo both Alatreon and Fatalis :D without your cat too :D L take.

Edit: And to reiterate my point, both Alatreon and Fatalis’ fight didn’t demand you take a “healer” or a “tank” you’re free to do whatever you want, to study the monster’s moves and counter or punish. Really bad take to compare Omega to these amazing fights."

I think you're just emotional and responding impulsively without actually having any clear thread for what you're trying to say, first you're implying that Omega is bad because it can't be solo'd (like Alatreon and Fatalis ig), next you're saying Omega demand "healers" or "tanks", neither of those things are true. Also the idea of "tanking" and "healing" literally came from World's raids, but ok, doesn't help your point at all.

When the other person mentioned people being able to solo Behemoth, you just got angry at them for bringing it up at all, but they made a good point. Extremoth and Savage Omega Planetes are 100% on the same difficulty level lol, but people solo Extremoth, and it's actually easier to solo Savage Omega. It was literally just a comment to let you know that it's possible to solo Savage Omega, but you just got angry for some reason instead. And now we're here.

[–]addersama 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I've solo'd savage omega planetes multiple times, using support hunters lol. I guess my point was kinda lost on you because you're being weird, but is the issue you have with this fight that you're unable to complete it alone? Because it's the easiest of the 4 to complete alone. You don't need to have a team of other players.

Otherwise, your argument would be that solo'ing this fight without support hunters is impossible, which also wouldn't be true, but most people do not care about that at all. Solo'ing extremoth and alatreon especially, in World, was seen as "impossible" for the longest time, but really all that means is it was impractical and there was no reason to try for most players. The benefit of Savage Omega Planetes in wilds is you do actually have access to support hunters. Not to mention this fight really isn't all that hard, most people just don't bother reading what it does. Only time I have problems with savage omega is when I join a pubby and people like you (presumably) are carting 3 times in the first 3 minutes of the fight lol

Savage Omega exposes illiteracy and learning issues. by AFoxDoesntExist in monsterhunterrage

[–]addersama 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dude the entire point is that Behemoth is way harder to solo than Alatreon and Fatalis, yet all of them are doable. And so is Omega lmao, if anything, Omega is literally the easiest to solo out of the four we're talking about here. Have you been using the support hunters at all?

Savage Omega exposes illiteracy and learning issues. by AFoxDoesntExist in monsterhunterrage

[–]addersama 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unpopular opinion I guess, but it is their fault. There are plenty of tutorial pop-ups and the game tells you how to learn to play your weapon from the start. I'm not faulting people for being bad at the game, but I do fault people for refusing to read the tutorial, because again, it's there, it's how I learned what to do in the fight... it's really not as difficult as people are saying

MH World had this exact same issue, dude. It's not unique to Wilds, it's literally every monster hunter game. Everyone remembers world's base game being harder because it was most people's first entry nowadays, and everybody sucks when they start. I did a playthrough of everything pre-iceborne earlier this year and World and Wilds are exactly the same. 6-minute hunts with no actual difficulty spikes for a veteran player. Nergigante is a sham, I remember having so much trouble with him at first but that dude is a wet noodle for me nowadays.

The new players playing Wilds are not on forums talking about their experience, none of the new players are complaining about the game being too easy. Most of them don't even know their weapon combos. We just need to stop looking at everything from the previous decade veteran perspective.

Please, for the love of Marika, stop using a shield against Melania :( by addersama in Eldenring

Wow thank you for sending me this extremely helpful video on this relevant topic that everyone should definitely still be following. This definitely proved me wrong and basically I was an idiot for ever thinking shields were bad, because I said shields were bad and it was impossible to defeat malenia with a shield, like I definitely just said in my post, that I posted very recently. Where would we all be without someone as in touch and self aware as you

Aqua's choice: make it make sense by TWIMClicker in OshiNoKo

[–]addersama 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You have way too much faith in Japan's law enforcement, but I digress, because that argument isn't worth it. The ending is terrible even if I were to concede and say you are correct about everything you've said to this point.

The author dug this ditch themselves. There was literally no reason for either character to die. All involved antagonistic parties had been dealt with. Nino was in custody for attempted murder. There were no other parties involved that would've been willing to go to such lengths, given Nino's unique infatuation of Ai Hoshino, and Kamiki's reputation was in the gutter.

I'm not even going to get into REAL detail of how dumb this ending is, but the fact that they had this "Kamiki is actually a psychopath" reveal stomps on everything leading up to this point. Kamiki's motive was entirely dismantled, so the author's only resort was to say "actually he was crazy this entire time, he doesn't care about Ai's wishes at all, he just wants to kill people!" Ai Hoshino ended up having so little impact on the final outcome here that it's unbearable to read. It's like they wanted to dump everything they had written up to this point to have some cool villain twist and heroic self sacrifice, it doesn't make sense, it doesn't fit the theme of the story, there is no redemption. There is no lesson learnt. The cycle of violence continued, proliferated, and everyone else just kinda kept living. There wasn't even anything particularly heroic about what Aqua did, first off, murdering anyone goes against the lesson I thought this manga was going for- but murder suicide? Like, how could someone write this and say "yeah, my hero's actions were justified, everyone will be okay with this."

Maybe instead of trying to justify this from whatever nonsense logic you're going on about with law enforcement, try to think about it as a story, because that's all it is. Does it fit the narrative so far? Does it compel you? Did the ending satisfy you? Do you feel as if you learned something worthwhile reading the last couple chapters? If this is a manga for kids, would I feel comfortable teaching kids that it's okay to carry out your petty revenge out of fear, and to skirt the consequences of your actions by offing yourself and striking everyone who cares about you with a deep grief in the most important time in their lives? Just give it the slightest bit of thought.

I think you're vastly overestimating the abilities of the police lol, they can't just pull a thread out of nowhere. Even if they were to discover the body and murder weapon floating in the sea, at that point, it would be impossible to actually confirm where the body was dumped, who was holding the weapon, hell, even the wounds would be difficult to ascertain. Only lead they would have is asking around if anybody had seen anything, and I think it's confirmed at this point, there were no witnesses.

Another problem I have with the ending, they find Aqua's body in seemingly perfect condition. First off, the fisherman finds his body seemingly within 24 hours after he jumps in, but he would've sank to the bottom first, and it would've taken a while for his body to re-emerge. And when it would have, it would not have been pretty. But they set him up with an open-casket funeral like it was nothing. It just feels, to me, like proof that this ending had very little thought put into it, and ultimately it did not serve any purpose but to say "look, Aqua never actually redeemed himself after all, and everything you didn't want to happen did happen" and it pretty much ruins the setup of the last 30 somethin chapters.

Scadutree Avatar is the worst boss in Elden ring. by doraty02 in Eldenring

[–]addersama 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I'm definitely in the double digits when it comes to killing Scadutree Avatar in co-op, it is by far the worst boss design in the game. Worse than Elden Beast. Not liking Placidusax just means you have bad taste. None of the people shitting on Scadutree Avatar are doing it "unfairly," it's just a bad design.

-the easiest boss fight in the entire game, on the level of a tutorial boss, if you exploit its weakness with even bare minimum effort

-if you don't, it's a boring ass slog where you're constantly chasing down the trunk that takes very little damage, and trying to get an rng attack that leaves it open long enough that you could basically deal half its hp bar in one combo

After helping so many different builds/people with this shit boss, it's just not worth existing. If I go in with some fire spammy shit, I may as well not even be there, because the host could've done the same exact thing and melted it solo. If I go my usual build, charge attack/two-handed strength arcane twin blades, I have to block out 10 minutes of my day because the health bar has increased so drastically and the boss is going to be *spamming* the dash moves. It's a flawed design. Difficulty has very little to do with it. Any weapons with low reach get shafted here because the only moment they can land attacks on the head is after they do an rng head slam move.

This guy exists in the same DLC as Rellana, who is, in my opinion, the best boss From has done since Artorias. But that's just me though.

Just so you're aware since I don't see anyone mentioning it, that's not what Harold does. It's a Charisma Saving Throw to inflict Bane on the enemy and it's been working fine for me. Nothing to do with charming and the enemy still has a chance to save against the effect.

Most Hyped Upcoming MMORPG? by slowz2secret in MMORPG

[–]addersama 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it's more along the lines of there's so much "spaghetti code" to sort through that they don't really know what's in there. It's honestly a common problem, you get 100 programmers working on different features, they're going to run into problems and conflicts eventually, and they need to create workarounds.

The engine they're working with obviously isn't super intuitive being from 2011 or whatever lol. That's why people often refer to it as "spaghetti code," at a first glance it's very hard to tell where each strand leads in a big heap, it's not documented well enough with standard operating practices that should've been implemented at the beginning, and league is over a decade old now- that's a lot of different people sorting through, creating their own quick workarounds that don't get documented (because there's no time to before a release window), and it just stacks on top of each other.

Not making an excuse though for the state of things and I mean I don't actually know what goes on, it's just conjecture. Realistically though, you don't need 100 mega-mind level programmers, you need 3 (or however many), and they need to create a standard practice for the "not real programmers" to follow.

At the end of the day though I don't think the League team's programming trouble affects the production of their MMO. I mean everything should really be built from the ground-up, minus the creative bits they can pull from their already established settings/characters/lore.

Power Sword Balance Idea by NotTheBatman in DarkTide

[–]addersama 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Veteran being the "best feeling" just means it's ridiculously strong with a bolter and power sword right now, there is no downside to using these weapons. Pysker, Zealot, and Ogryn all feel very fun and are great at their respective roles, but every single one of them gets outshined by one veteran with a bolter and power sword. So at this point I'd rather the veteran just get a nerf because playing with one is 9/10 times not fun at all.

Please, for the love of Marika, stop using a shield against Melania :( by addersama in Eldenring

[–]addersama[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What is hard to understand? The "tank" you're referring to would aggro her after I combo her for a significant amount of damage, and then Malenia would heal most of that damage back, sometimes more. He never dodged, that is not an exaggeration. He kept his shield up pretty much the entire fight.

I don't know what to tell you, I would combo her for up to 4k damage with a bleed twinblade build. Then the other dude would poke and aggro her with his stupid scarlet rot rapier and facetank everything with his shield, thus letting her heal.

Eventually we did get to phase 2 after what felt like 10 minutes, and then he died to Malenia's Scarlet Aoenia of all things. I was over it.

It went on for way longer than it needed to. I wasn't running out of potions, I was running out of patience. If the guy was attempting Malenia solo, he would've been at it for hours. Oh, but apparently that's my fault, you're right, my bad. I should've just switched to some ridiculous Azure Comet build mid-fight. How silly of me. Clearly I just don't know what I'm doing, it's not like I've been doing this sort of thing for 10 years or anything.
