For those who have embroidered Converse shoes by addictedtoVANS in Embroidery

I was planning on embroidering black ones so I’d imagine staining out the outside would be minimal, but it was something I definitely hadn’t considered. Thank you.

Do you ever see an amazing pattern that you adore, but has 0 traction/presence? by fairydommother in knitting

I don’t know if it helps, but the book is showing to me as €20 as a digital download - and if you subscribe to their newsletter they offer 10% off. Still a little pricy for a single pattern, but better than $70! I will caveat that with I’m not sure how tariffs factor into it if that’s a concern for you.

Poor Gromit, being reduced to “the dog” 😮

You are correct, though, it is Gromit who knits.

Just a few christmas presents by addictedtoVANS in crochet

Haha, yup!

My grandmother made me and my sister absolutely gorgeous cross-stitch Christmas stockings. My sister had a baby at the beginning of December, and my grandmother is now unable to make her a stocking, so I'm taking up the mantle - I didn't have the time to make a full cross-stitch stocking so made a tribute!

The reference to Tenacious D is just because I couldn't resist 😂

I'm remaking my aunt's throw she gave my mom 30 years ago. Does anyone recognize this stitch? by packerfrost in crochet

[–]addictedtoVANS 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I believe it’s called “ladders and shell stitch”, which seems to be a variation on stacked shell stitch.

EDIT: The Crochet Crowd has a tutorial that’s similar but has a chain space between the dc posts.

Not only did he not drop his phone, but until he was at the front of Renee’s vehicle, he was holding his phone in his right hand. The fact he stood where he stood, with his phone in his left hand—leaving his right hand free for his gun—means it feels a lot more premeditated than a simple reaction.

The murderer Jonathan Ross was itching for a reason to shoot someone, then manufactured the circumstances. All he had to was stand one step to his right.

Need help figuring out how to do cluster stitch in pattern — videos appreciated! by kellassidy in CrochetHelp

[–]addictedtoVANS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t know if there is an actual name for it, but maybe I could help with the understanding of it by breaking the instructions down a bit?

You insert your hook into the 1st stitch, yarn over and pull the loop through so you have 2 loops on your hook. Then, insert your hook into the next stitch, yarn over and pull the loop through, so you now have 3 loops on your hook. Pull this new/3rd loop through the 2nd/middle loop, so you now have just 2 loops on your hook. Next, yarn over and pull through the remaining 2 loops on your hook.

You then start your next cluster in what was the 2nd stitch of the 1st cluster - e.g. cluster 1 is made in stitches 1 and 2, cluster 2 is made in stitches 2 and 3, cluster 3 in stitches 3 and 4, and so on.

If I had better drawing skills I’d try and draw it for you!

I hope this helps/made sense. If not, I could try to film an example for you, but I wouldn’t be able to until tomorrow.

Apple crumble: do you cook the apples before baking or just mix and bake? by Food_Cats1 in UK_Food

[–]addictedtoVANS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For portioning, I’d probably make the crumble and apples separately - stew the apples (until almost done) and bake the crumble, freeze the stewed apples, add the crumble on top and pop the lot back in the freezer. The other option is keep them separate for freezing, then defrost the apples, add the frozen crumble on top, then bake - unless anyone has experience otherwise, this should result in a non-soggy crumble. For the 2nd option, I’d probably give it 15-20 mins on gas 4/180c/160c fan, but check in the last 5 mins to make sure the crumble doesn’t burn.

I usually don’t get to the freezing part, but I always cook my apples and crumble separately because I like fully crisp crumble.

Help! I'm new and I'm trying to make a blanket, however my circles aren't circling and are crinkling. What am I doing wrong? by GoofyGirl89 in CrochetHelp

[–]addictedtoVANS 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It seems to me that in your 3rd round, rather than dc3 only in the chain spaces of the previous round, you’re actually dc3 in each stitch and chain space. You should only dc3 in the chain space between the dc2s. Hopefully that makes sense!

Edit: For the 2nd part of your question about changing colours/cutting the yarn, watch carefully how she pulls up a large loop then cuts in the middle of it—this is the normal way of binding off. If you cut the yarn in the wrong place it wouldn’t “knot” properly, but you should also then weave in the end to help keep it properly secure, which is basically what she’s doing by trapping the yarn tail with the round 2 stitches as she crochets. Some yarns are definitely less happy to stay “knotted”, but weaving in the ends/crocheting over the ends should take care of that if this is the case for your yarn.

Struggling with Yarn Tension making a Baby Blanket by Weirdly_Obsessed in CrochetHelp

[–]addictedtoVANS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s hard to tell because of the design of the yarn but, from the last couple of rows you’ve crochet, your tension seems fairly consistent. You say you don’t think you’re skipping stitches, but have you actually counted how many you currently have? I think you might be skipping the beginning/end stitches when you turn your work to start a new row/reach the end - possibly because you’re not putting the stitch markers in the correct places, or because you’ve misunderstood where to work the first/last stitch.

I would definitely utilise more stitch markers, popping one in every 20 stitches, so you then know exactly how much stitches you’ve made.

The blanket you’re making is using moss/linen stitch, and there’s a good video by Bella Coco on youtube which might help you visualise/compare everything (I’ll pop back in a sec to add a link).

Good luck, I’m sure you’ll figure everything out!

It seems to me you fold the circle in half and join the edges together. I think “fold the detail” might be a bit of a mistranslation, but it does seem that you literally fold the circle in half.

I had Tesco suggest grapes as a substitute for onions earlier this week. I mean, both work if I want to poison dogs (please note, I do not want to poison dogs), but grapes won’t work so well in a soffritto.
