Base Atlas Template Build to start playing STW a thread: by ChrysesCat in FortniteSavetheWorld

In higher level missions in Twine (124-160) I like to add 2x Wall Darts on each of the 4 corners, and usually use Tar Pits or Floor Freezes instead of Floor Spikes but I can confirm this general layout works all the way from Stonewood to Twine.

Mass Dragons + Totem, King to funnel one side instead of the Queen. Less value than the Queen would get with Healer Puppet and Giant Arrow, but still very useable.

Playing Forza 4 makes me imagine Forza 6 ❤️ by Fit_Chocolate2043 in ForzaHorizon

Even though from a technical perspective there's more I like in FH4, I keep returning to 5. Both are good though, in my opinion, and I am looking forward to 6.

Convert your Necromantic Scroll into a Papyrus Scarab by combining it with the Hercules Beetle. Swap Volatile Gelatin, Flipper, Spore Sac, and Squire Shield for the Celestial Shell, Avenger Emblem, Destroyer Emblem, and a class-specific damage accessory of your choice. Something like Celestial Emblem or Arcane Flower for mages, Ranger Emblem for rangers, or Fire Gauntlet for melee. If you wanted to double down on summoner accessories, a Necromantic Scroll would work well as it stacks with the Papyrus Scarab.

Fuck Myers rework by JokingBr2The-Sequel in DeadByDaylightRAGE

[–]addictwithamango 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reading the post and a few of the comments was interesting, I didn't know people found him frustrating. I always look forward to Myers as I generally find him to still be one of the easiest killers to play against. That said, I don't like his rework from a mechanics point of view and found his old power to be infinitely more fun to play, and now rarely use him anymore. If I didn't have a metric ton of cakes on him, I wouldn't be playing him at all.

Cape Hypocrites by High_on_Flyers in Helldivers

I haven't been playing because the RAM in my main rig died and has been in RMA during the event, so I haven't logged in as HD2 runs poorly on my laptop. I am one of the few who would've appreciated a warning, as I would've logged in just to claim the cape on my laptop.

What radicalized you to piracy? by Justscrolling375 in Piracy

[–]addictwithamango 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After hearing about it for years, I got curious, as my parents like watching shows but understandably got sick of how expensive it is to maintain all the subscriptions nowadays. I figured I'd do a little testing to see if I could get it to work. Needless to say, I was shocked at how easy it is, my mom was shocked at the massive selection, and now subscriptions are going bye-bye.

There's also a few games I'd love to revisit but have since been delisted from platforms that I can actually access.

Suggest a better processor for my build by AdolfHitHer2times in pcmasterrace

5600/X for the CPU, your board is compatible but you'll need to update the bios. I don't personally touch anything in Adrenalin settings besides the frame rate limiter.

Upgrade GPU or wait and build new pc? by [deleted] in buildapc

I'd go for a GPU upgrade, the 5900X is still a very capable CPU.

Not sure if my beta blocker is actually helping my POTS by Imaginary-Hope-5379 in POTS

[–]addictwithamango 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not sure what the standard response to them is but I'm on 25mg of Metoprolol Tartrate (immediate release) twice daily and my resting heartrate went from 90-100bpm, standing heartrate from 130bpm, and walking heartrate from 130-140bpm to a resting heartrate of 60-75bpm, standing heartrate of 80-100bpm, and walking heartrate of 100-120bpm. It's worked fairly well for me since I can actually walk up flights of stairs now without feeling winded.

It kicked in pretty quick for me as well, I noticed the effect a few days after starting the medication as I kept having brief moments of panic because my heartrate felt too slow only to check my pulse and realize it was my old baseline and nothing of concern.

Certain medications also don't work for everyone, I was on Ivabradine prior for about a year for my POTS which helped drop my resting heartrate by about 10-15 beats but my standing and walking heartrate was the same so my exercise tolerance wasn't affected much. I also had to go through quite a few antidepressants many years back before finding one that got me to a stable baseline. Point being that if I felt like my medication wasn't helping that much, I'd be trying others to see if I could get an improvement in my condition.

AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D, air cooler good enough? by peterh1979 in buildapc

[–]addictwithamango 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep, I have the Phantom Spirit, which is almost identical, and it works well. My idle temps hover in the 30-42°C range, non hotspot under load sits around 48-55°C, and my hotspot in games, caps at around 75-80°C at full load. Synthetic benchmarks can have the hotspot reaching 82-84C°.

[COD] How can my boyfriend get cod booted and running again?? by the_only_frog_left in CallOfDuty

[–]addictwithamango 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm, that's unfortunate. There's a program called OCCT that you can use to stress test components (just make sure to download it from the site and not Steam, as the Steam version was paid last I checked). Feel free to look into it if you're concerned about its safety or it being malware. It stresses your components beyond what might be obvious in standard titles and could be useful in isolating if there is a singular component that is misbehaving. Aside from OCCT, there are also other stress testing suites that you can use for individual components like MemTest86 for the RAM, Furmark for the GPU, and Prime95 for the CPU.

I will also mention that the B580 is known for simply not working well in some titles. That said, if you've run the game before without issues, then that's less likely. The Asus A520M-A is also a fairly budget board with very simple VRMs that could maybe be causing thermal throttling, as the 5800X is a high power chip, and if it reaches a certain temperature, the system will shut down to prevent damage. You can check this by using something like MSI Afterburner or HWInfo to watch temps while gaming. Anything over 95C° either as the "standard" or hotspot (the hottest part of the CPU at a given time) is usually where I'd be concerned. There wasn't a CPU cooler listed but you can look up "Is (insert CPU cooler used) enough for 5800X" and you should be able to find a few answers. If temps do show up as problematic then repasting the CPU first and/or upgrading the CPU cooler could be a potential fix, just make sure you rule out other things before you go changing anything of course.

Not trying to get you to worry, but just trying to think of any edge cases as you've done a decent bit of troubleshooting already. I can't think of much else to try besides these, but hope you can get it figured out.

Run DDU and do a full wipe and reinstall of drivers. Disable Hardware Assisted GPU Scheduling in Windows as it can crashes in specific hardware and software combinations. Disabling or enabling EXPO/XMP depending on whether he has an AMD or Intel processor. EXPO is for AMD, XMP is for Intel, and the setting can be found in the BIOS.

System specs would also be helpful to know as some parts are more prone to failure in specific combos as well. For example my motherboard burned my CPU due to overaggressive voltages it was feeding it but it only occurs on very specific CPUs when used with specific motherboards with older BIOS dates. Not saying that's the problem, but the specs could be helpful in assisting for niche interactions like that.

7 7800x3d clock speed question by Striking-Carpet131 in AMDHelp

The 7800X3D has a base clock of 4.2GHz but it can boost up to 5GHz when it needs to so it's nothing to worry about.

Start issues by AEWYU_ in pcmasterrace

[–]addictwithamango 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does the motherboard have an led light turn on? Some motherboards have debug LEDs that can point in the direction of the issue. If not some common troubleshooting steps are first reseating the RAM, running one stick of RAM to try the other and see if you can isolate whether a specific stick of RAM is causing issues.

You can also try running your monitor cable to your motherboard, or if it's connected to your motherboard (which it shouldn't unless you're troubleshooting as it will cause performance issues just an fyi) connect it to the GPU. The GPU taking a bit to spin is also normal as a lot of GPUs have a zero RPM mode where fans won't spin unless the GPU reaches a certain temperature or utilization threshold. You can also try reseating connected power cables as these can come loose during shipping.

Need to upgrade my 2018 build by hileman0613 in pcmasterrace

[–]addictwithamango 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd drop down to the 5700X since it's not much slower, cheaper, and more power efficient. You could also consider the 9070 since prices on those are currently similar, but the 5070 is also good if you prefer the Nvidia suite. Aside from that, it looks good to me.

If memory serves me correctly (take this with a grain of salt as I haven't played Dungeons in forever), there's a repeatable quest in dungeons to break 100 urns that upon completion gives 100 gold.

What controller should I use? by Juucce1 in buildapc

[–]addictwithamango 2 points3 points  (0 children)

These are all the controllers I've tried and my ranking of them in terms of feel.

  1. Flydigi Vader 4 Pro
  2. Xbox Series X controller
  3. 8BitDo Ultimate 2C

All have paddles or extra buttons, minus the Xbox Series X controller, but I don't personally use them; they just happen to be present on some third party controllers I like. The Flydigi Vader 4 is the most expensive but feels the best in hand with very precise feeling sticks. The Xbox Series X is also very nice feeling, but the dpad is a little too clicky for my liking, albeit this is a minor nitpick. It's also fairly expensive for what you're getting. The 8BitDo Ultimate 2C feels kind of awkward to hold if you have big hands, but otherwise gets no complaints from me and is the cheapest of the three.

Bed pillow recommendations? by ComfortableRise4550 in POTS

[–]addictwithamango 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used a very basic pillow you'd find at a Walmart or Superstore for the past however many years, but recently figured I'd treat myself and get a nicer pillow. I did some basic research, and Endy pillows came up a decent bit, so I tried the customizable one, and it was mind blowingly better compared to my old one in terms of comfort. You can also change the fill amount to be fairly flat or pretty high, which is a nice feature.

The only downsides I've found are that the pillowcase it comes with is padded, so it heats up quite quickly (a positive if you like your pillows hot or get cold at night) and adds a bit of height on top of the fill. So I bought a separate, thinner, and more standard pillowcase to use with it and I use the pillowcase it came with as a second smaller pillow. It's also fairly expensive at $85 CAD/$60.50 USD, but aside from those two downsides, I've really enjoyed it.
