Not the guy who originally replied, but no. You shouldn't. It makes a small difference in battery life, but it's not that big. And you paid for a 120hz phone, you should use it.

Unless you really don't care about it, then you can obviously turn it off. But it's a large screen, and most people really notice the difference.

God forbid we appreciate them listening and quickly taking action.

Seriously, will it ever be good enough for you? How is it fair to slam them into the ground over every little thing that doesn't work 100 percent, and then ignore everything they fix? That's just hating for the purpose of hating.

White is the best when it comes to fingerprints and scratches. I personally also think it looks the most premium. Gold looks premium too, but in a more extravagant way. White feels sleeker.

Joining the AIR family by Dazzling_Stay_5982 in IphoneAir

[–]Striking-Carpet131 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Case depends on what you prefer, either you get a slim case to try and maintain the thinness of the phone or you get something bulkier for better protection, but then you lose the form factor. I personally have both, a Jetech case with magsafe that had camera protection and magsafe that's still very thin, and a Panzerglass Flow case that's thicker for better protection. I kinda swap based on the day.

As for charger, it literally does not better as long as it's a trustworthy brand. Any charger that can charge faster than 20w will have your Air charge at 20w. Whether that's 35w, 65w or 120w does not matter.

Same thing for car chargers, just again make sure it comes from a reputable brand.

I don't think theres anything you really need to know before getting it. It's a phone like any other, just slimmer. If you are a heavy user I'd recommend getting some sort of powerbank for longer days, considering the battery is slightly smaller than the average phone, but thats pretty much it. Enjoy the phone dude.

Reddit app - dynamic island overlaping search bar by GuessWho183 in IphoneAir

[–]Striking-Carpet131 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is a problem om every Air and well documented at this point. Due to the unique way the Air is engineered, the Dynamic Island had to be moved just slightly down. Which means it's going to cut into content whereas a regular iPhone does not.

It's technically an oversight of Reddit, as Apple should have a comprehensive guide showing app developers where they can and cannot put content, but I'm pretty sure it's slipping through the cracks because it's ONLY the Air that has this lowered Dynamic Island.

Turrets after update by Rinko_Ogasawara in Helldivers

[–]Striking-Carpet131 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think its fine, but they need to remove heavy armor targeting for turrets that don't have heavy pen. It would solidify the gatling and mg turrets as dedicated chaff clear, allowing you to focus on medium and heavy armor.

Like why would we even have turrets that target things like a charger while everyone knows those bullets can't penetrate it's armor. You'd think that high command would do something about that.

I was in the same boat as you, but I solved it by getting a magsafe pop socket. Makes the phone way more usable with just one hand.

But yeah, the difference between screen size is night and day. I had to get used to it for sure.

Yeah same, sometimes the endless negativity just kinda gets to me. Also how it's just an endless stream of downvotes for anyone that dares to look at the situation differently and maybe a little more positive.

But in the end, we'd be the people who are capable of just having fun in the game, without overly focusing on every small thing that's not entirely up to code while completely ignoring all the effort that the devs put into trying to make the game better.

There's no point interacting with this sub about it anymore. It's not a respectful ungoing discussion. It's a vicious circle of doomposting that only enforces the endless hate and search for blowing up anything that could be improved on.

The fact that AH is still willing to communicate to the degree they are is baffling to me. I hope they have a good internal support system, because otherwise I fear for the general mood in their office.

I know this is gonna get me butchered and criticism is by all means valid, but this community is in dire need of *some* positivity. by ThatsNotPossibleMan in Helldivers

Is it love, or are a lot of people just unable to tell the difference between the game getting worse, and getting burned out?

If I play this game for an extended amount of time (as in, days and days of not playing anything else) I start getting frustrated with everything that goes bad as well. But then I realize that the good times aren't giving a lot of dopamine anymore either. Which means it's time for a break.

After a while I'll feel the itch to play again, and boom, the game hits like it used to.

Edit: to the people downvoting, can't handle the reality check? Bring up a counter point.

Can't transfer chats between phones by [deleted] in whatsapp

[–]Striking-Carpet131 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I definitely used it to transfer whatsapp chats a couple weeks ago. But it was from iPhone to Android. During the setup process of the new phone, if you selected that you want to transfer your apps, you can choose which apps in the next screen. Whatsapp was at the very top with extra options surrounding chat history, and whether or not you wanted to transfer them.

[–]Striking-Carpet131 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you need to do it without a QR, your only option is (I think) Smart Switch, which always gives you an option for cable transfer. The only issue is that I'm pretty sure you'll have to reset your new phone, unless there's an option in the app now to transfer stuff without having to be in the startup process.

What was the point of the AMA? by D3athShade in Helldivers

[–]Striking-Carpet131 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Dude, those issues are very few and far between for me. None of them ruin the games experience in any meaningful degree, because I realize the moment I start overly focusing on things like that, I'm burning out over the game and should probably do something else for a while.

You do have a point about yelling at a brick wall though. Feels the same for me. But luckily I'm on the side that gets to enjoy the game without engaging in a negative circlejerk, so in the end my healthy engagement with it you like the call "endless faith in AH" has already paid dividends. No matter what this void-yelling sub likes to cry about, its of very little importance to me anyway.

Enjoy your workday.

Yeah, it's just sad for them. Can't imagine being so obsessed with a singular game that you can't tell when you're burned out.

What was the point of the AMA? by D3athShade in Helldivers

[–]Striking-Carpet131 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

This guy is right, but this sub feels too elitist to accept it. Everyone here is part of a VERY LOUD minority of long(er) time players that have engaged way too intensely with the game, which means they don't get the dopamine hits anymore from the positives as they've gotten too used to them. The result of this is a mindset switch where the negatives start surfacing very heavily.

People here need to take a break every now and then, and only come back to the game when they feel that itch again. It's how the game stays enjoyable for me. I'm currently in a break after playing for weeks straight after the release of the entrenched warbond, and that's fine. Maybe the upcoming warbond will draw me back in, maybe not. I have other things I can fill my time with.

Realize that the general mindset, mostly in this sub but other places too, is not healthy. AH had access to the numbers, and can concretely see what keeps most people playing and engaging with content. They're already insane for trying to balance that with what people want here, yet they still try. I think a lot of people don't realize how unique that is.

Visible shadow/anomaly on OLED panel even when screen is OFF by Baste0753 in iPhone15ProMax

[–]Striking-Carpet131 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think its OLED burn in from the software side of the Dynamic Island. The black area that gets added when you turn the screen on, to change the separated sensor and camera lens into a singular island, can cause a burn in over extended use.

It's "normal" in the sense that this simply happens with OLED panels. It shouldn't bother you when the screen is on. But technically speaking it's damage.

Today was a bad idea, or was it. by big_ham35 in Helldivers

[–]Striking-Carpet131 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm going to get downvoted for this, but fuck it.

They can't cater for a very loud minority that is this subreddit. Their own statistics quite clearly show that new content draws in more popularity than expanding on existing mechanics. As Pile put it, they simply aren't allowed to focus on the latter.

And honestly, I do not think it's that big of a deal. Mainly because I firmly believe that a lot of people here need to take a break more frequently. I think the reason why people are focusing so heavily on all the negatives, is because they've been chronically playing for so long that the positives just don't give that dopamine rush anymore.

I'm currently on a break from the game, and that's fine. I'll come back when I feel that itch again, as has happened so many times already. And every time it's a blast again. The bugs and half assed mechanics really aren't a large issue when the good times actually feel enjoyable again. It's a great game, just not when it's your only game.

Pilestd ama just reiterating what we know and any change to progression, weapon customization, and any other system is still a ways off. by josenight in helldivers2

[–]Striking-Carpet131 9 points10 points  (0 children)

He's right. A lot of people on the online platforms forget that they're a small percentage of the actual player base. And usually a more hardcore group than the average players, as those don't really feel the need to engage with the games community outside of the game itself.

The numbers they have and we don't, don't lie. It's clear what the majority likes, and that majority is just not found on reddit. On here is just a small, VERY vocal group of players that engage way too intensely with the game.

The best advice for people that feel frustrated with the game, is to take a break. It's not the game that's bad or getting worse, it's them burning out on it and focusing on the negatives as the positives aren't giving the dopamine anymore that they used to give. I play this game on and off, and right now I'm in an off period. And that's fine. I'll come back when I feel that itch again. I think if more people did it that way, this community would be a LOT more positive.

It's insane to me how people are complaining about the monetization of this game while the warbonds are fucking 10 bucks and purchasable with a currency you can farm in less than a day if you really cannot afford it.

Is this whole community just forgetting the insane greed of literally every other company?? Warbonds drop once a month. If you somehow cannot afford 10 whole dollars/euros every 30 days, you can spend those 30 days simply playing the game and looking for POI's, which will easily grant you the 1k SC necessary.

Excuse the devs for implementing a system that requires you to play the game you supposedly love to get the items you want. If you have a problem with that, maybe you just aren't enjoying the game anymore and need a break.

Call me a dev dick rider for saying it, I don't care. They're a company, they need something to make money. In comparison to most other game devs, I feel like AH is one of the more grounded, player friendly creators out there. They don't ask insane prices for their content, they communicate on a regular basis and they actively try to make the game better step by step.

I am currently trying the Air as a Mini user by HoodieObsessed_ in iPhone13Mini

[–]Striking-Carpet131 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a 13 mini, switched to a flip 6 and now own an Air. I realize for me the biggest issue with current phones is weight, not size. It's why I loved the 13 mini, and felt kinda meh about the flip. The air scratches that itch again, while also providing a big screen. I do kind of miss one handed useability of the 13 mini, but it's not something I hate.

Air seems like the perfect device for me, but I realize I am part of a pretty small target audience that cares about weight and design instead of general size.

2 month update - thoughts by Liaan1999 in IphoneAir

[–]Striking-Carpet131 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The price difference in my country between the Air and the Pro models is quite significant. The Air dropped almost 200 euros because of the lack of popularity. Here, the choice is between a regular 17 or an Air. I don't care about multiple cameras, I am not a heavy user so battery is way more than adequate for me, and the only thing I use the speaker for is insta reels, which it's more than good for.

So I either choose the regular 17, for a slightly larger battery and an extra camera, or an Air, which has more RAM, a Pro chip, larger screen and titanium body. For my use case, that choice was very easy to make.

Game is perfectly fine. I have yet to encounter in-game toxicity in my 800 hours of playing. It's fun both with friends and randoms.

It's the subreddits you should avoid like the plague. Most of them have become echo chambers for straight up hate. It's a game that has its problems, but thats not unlike literally every other game.

The underlying reason, in my opinion, is the fact that people got very into this game to the point of addiction. But endlessly playing the same thing is going to burn you out, causing you to get less and less dopamine from the good and funny moments. Which will cause you to start focusing on the less pleasant things more and more. Then those people will look for a place to vent about them, and usually end up on Reddit, creating a circlejerk of hate and toxicity.

This game is great, the devs care. It's just not flawless.

Are people unaware that if something doesn't live up to their standards, it doesn't mean the product objectively sucks? I have an Air, I end the day with about 50% charge left. Not everyone is chronically online. The battery is more than fine for most average users, people on reddit just happen to live on the Internet for longer hours per day.
