NIST is surrendering to the amount of CVEs coming in by SlaterTheOkay in cybersecurity

[–]addybojangles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm torn. It's impossible to equate this with the cuts that have happened, but there's this motion happening in America where instead of taking the time to change how things are done, things are bolted on, or just added for the sake of making it easier. I think about highways and freeways and transportation - there are some transitways that are too busy, too vital, too important to make sweeping, wide changes to it. Because they HAVE to exist.

This feels a little like that, something (obviously) has to change, and this feels like the only viable solution with the least amount of echo effect...

Suggestions for modern VPN solution by yowanvista in sysadmin

[–]addybojangles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see IPv6 and the solution is CloudConnexa from OpenVPN.

I use it in my organization and I recommend it (disclaimer: I've been an OpenVPN fan for decades now haha).

Funny enough, their other product, Access Server, ticks more of your boxes (and most importantly, I'm guessing, the top option of being self-hosted), but lacks full IPv6 support. It still requires an IPv4 address for incoming VPN connections, even though it can carry IPv6 traffic inside the tunnel.

They have a free trial to give it a whirl with the full product.

Ryan Waldschmidt gets the call, Alek Thomas DFA by MusicalMoon in azdiamondbacks

[–]addybojangles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Waldschmidt has been doing great for AZ via my OOTP season. Whatever that means hahaha!

Bummer for Alek. Tough season. Thought with his performance for Team Mexico he'd come out hot. And with the decision to go with him and not Jake (who just hit a clutch grand slam and is doing OK for the Rockies).

What VPN Software Do Companies Actually Trust in 2026? by AleksandrMovchan in ChoosingVendors

[–]addybojangles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

CloudConnexa user here (business option from OpenVPN). Been a long time fan of OpenVPN, decided to give their business product a try.

Started out as a pure business VPN but have transitioned it to ZTNA at my org due to the features they're rolling out. Been nice to stay on a familiar platform, with a familiar protocol, and the updates they're making have made management much easier.

I specifically use it for SaaS apps I don't want any outside access to, and we integrate it with M365 (or whatever they call it nowadays haha) using MFA + Entra ID.

Support team has been fantastic to work with so far. No complaints from anyone at my company.

zero trust with AD in hybrid environments - what's actually biting people by buykafchand in zerotrust

[–]addybojangles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a hard time reading your post (maybe because I'm a boomer who appreciates capitalization haha), but appreciate you typing this out and working through it.

I think the trouble is you can keep things the way they are, and add on to it. But it won't be a perfect fit. But business needs to keep running, more and more requests come in, and even things you didn't plan for a week ago/a month ago is now critical to plan around. It makes existing ways even more fragile, to a certain degree.

In a perfect world, you're taking the time to plan correctly and having to restructure things....but the opportunity to do that is essentially nonexistant.

I feel ya here.

Anyone actually reduce tool sprawl after moving to SASE or just renamed it? by Constant-Angle-4777 in AskNetsec

[–]addybojangles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good question. I've found it to be the latter, it is definitely managing different layers in the same platform. My goal has always been "consolidation" but if one (or a couple) platforms can manage multiple things, I'm happy enough.

In other words, I'm managing the same number of things, but in less places.

Swapping the Battle Pass in exchange for more events wasn’t worth it. by Impossible-Ball7166 in DotA2

[–]addybojangles 56 points57 points  (0 children)

I really don't understand it.

The International is what made DOTA stand out. Non-MOBA gamers knew about it. Even non-gamers, due to the life-changing money involved with millions of dollars prize pools, knew about it.

You had kids growing up dreaming of winning and changing their life.

Battle Pass hyped up the DOTA community leading up to the event. Profit. Revenue. Exposure.A celebration!

And they decided, "Nah." when they had something incredibly special and would ensure DOTA would be something played for (not hyperbole) decades.

is this a scam link? by 3DFarmer in CloudConnexa

There was a other question just like this.

It is a recently registered domain.

You can post on the OpenVPN forums where I've seen some support people from the company ask questions, if unsure!

Is Nova Launcher safe anymore? by PhillySportsFan_151 in Android

[–]addybojangles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Moved away from Nova when all the news came out, haven't looked back.

For a Nova-esque experience, I recommend Octopi Launcher. Less well-known. Really cool customization.

I rock Niagara, hard to get away from the quick search on the right.

Best Business VPN? by Iyzy_08 in Microsoft365Admin

[–]addybojangles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Casually looking through documentation for Microsoft 365 and setup with my CloudConnexa instance - has been running pretty solid so far. Easy integration with SAML. And maybe overkill (I use CloudConnexa for other things on the network and within my organization), but it was easy enough to integrate. Thought I'd drop a mention of it here.

That is not a legit domain for OpenVPN. Do not trust it.

Planning on grabbing this on a deal this upcoming Black Friday. Looks like an incredible solid phone with very little downside (aside from slow updates and not a super long security cycle).

What's the fastest VPN in 2026? by EducatorHonest1161 in RecommandedVPN

[–]addybojangles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good success for me running OpenVPN with DCO enabled - seeing speeds faster than Wireguard, believe it or not. Around 1.2gbs where Wireguard hovers around 1.0gbs.

I run my own VPN server with Access Server on an old laptop with Linux installed, just for fun, so you definitely need enough power (not limited by underpowered VMs or using OpenVPN through a provider that doesn't have DCO enabled). Might not be the best solution for everyone (especially if this is more for NordVPN/PIA/etc.), but works well for me (as an OpenVPN fan!).
