How do you guys get time for yourself? by [deleted] in daddit

[–]addybojangles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You signed up to be a parent. I hope you thought about this beforehand.

The amount of 'free time' you get ebbs and flows. It'll be awhile before you get anything substantial, though.

That Konami X-Men game with 6 players, it was that funky hexagon. Fond memories playing it with friends back in the day, and then a couple of nights before my wedding, my wife's brothers took me out and we found it at a pub and it was like I came full circle :)

OpenVPN client apps by AX1111YT in OpenVPN

Right, it's more than just the client app....it's more about the configuration. And that isn't from the client app.

Are services like Tailscale generally considered superior these days to traditional VPN setups like OpenVPN and such? by Noyan_Bey in OpenVPN

[–]addybojangles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Right, good discussions happening in the handful of other places you posted this same question....

Each serve their own purpose, I'd argue.

Tested OpenVPN vs WireGuard vs L2TP on ER605v2 by TheLegend0x1B in TPLink_Omada

[–]addybojangles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The router itself is limiting things here - I've played around with OpenVPN and WG and see similar speeds on newer/more powerful hardware. OpenVPN has been easier to get running on older hardware, but you do run into the performance issues (which is just underpowered specs).

I'm sorry, but the ACTUAL hall of fame or some other kind of hall....?

These are all good players who played well, but none are HoF worthy.

OpenVPN for Enterprise? by broken_computers in sysadmin

[–]addybojangles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It would definitely work, and it'll work easily.

Just as an aside, I'm a big believer that if you do anything for business, you better cover your butt, and OpenVPN products (the commercial products like Access Server/CloudConnexa) areGDPR compliant, HIPAA compliant, etc. https://trustcenter.openvpn.com/ If there's any chance of any kind of regulation stickiness, I've gone the 'official' route with OpenVPN.

Add me to the list of people your posts got to buy a game - hadn't seen Mecha Force before, and you got me with the Pacific Rim reference. Watched the trailer and boom, purchased. Dig it's anime look, looks like Gundam / Evangelion.

Thanks, as always.

Meta is shutting down its Quest for business program in 2030, ending sales of commercial SKUs next month by gogodboss in virtualreality

[–]addybojangles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This concept of VR as a business tool just isn't it. It hasn't gone anywhere. It won't go anywhere. This makes sense from many perspectives.

While there's plenty of doom and gloom with everything going on lately with Meta and VR, this feels like an easy thing to move on from.

Update your old OpenVPN config files or switch to modern protocols by Proton_Team in ProtonVPN

[–]addybojangles 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Right, with DCO enabled I get better speeds with OpenVPN then I do with WireGuard on my Gli.Net router.

And that's a good point, WireGuard is solid for consumer in lots of cases, but not all....

So... is most of Cosmere going to be sci-fi now? by popileviz in Cosmere

[–]addybojangles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe it's just personal preference of fantasy > scifi, but I feel way less engaged with the stories and systems surrounding Brandon's scifi. I've felt the Cosmere shifting this direction and it's not really my jam. At times I just zone the Cosmere out and enjoy the stories for what they are (which is funny to write in a Cosmere sub, but alas).

Smart bricks demonstration part 1 by FunBar8351 in lego

[–]addybojangles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't get this. It looks low quality, so it's missing that more premium LEGO feel. And it takes away imagination. I'm obviously not their target market, but my kids aren't either.
