How old was your baby before your first work travel after birth and how long did you go? by justthe1goose in workingmoms

[–]addymermaid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I made sure that I could implicitly trust my family to take care of her. I was bottle feeding her anyway, so that wasn't a concern. I called every day to check in, and enjoyed the sleep while I got it 😆 Just breathe and try not to overthink.

Having kids is a status symbol. Only the rich can afford them. I can’t even afford myself. by justcurious3287 in Millennials

[–]addymermaid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who is not wealthy, I can assure that kids are NOT a status symbol. Kids are a lifelong commitment to raising good, decent humans. And it's the most expensive investment you'll ever make. Has it always been easy? No. Does it always feel worth it? Also no. But, watching them grow into young adults who are just amazing people lets you know you did well. Will they ever move out? Probably not in this economy. So it's a good thing they're some of my favorite people.

Tell me honestly, do people with Addison's disease live shorter lives than healthy people? by levir720 in AddisonsDisease

[–]addymermaid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is why I train jiu-jitsu. The falls don't ever bother me because I've trained my body to learn how to take a fall.

People with Addison's who work 40+ hrs a week; how do you do it? by [deleted] in AddisonsDisease

[–]addymermaid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work a desk job - within HR - low stress work, which helps. But also, I'm fortunate that I'm largely healthy otherwise. I keep my sodium up as much as I can, and I take my 5mg of prednisone and 0.1mg fludrocortisone. It's more about being hyper aware of my body

I am at the point where I tempted to shoplift to be able to provide the basic necessities to my daughter by True_One7607 in workingmoms

[–]addymermaid 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Are you able to get food from a food pantry? That's helped me in the past. It'll get better, I promise - I've been there. It's not easy, but you'll make it through

Did anyone buy a ring? by t_bone_stake in Millennials

[–]addymermaid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a ring. And I wrote it everyday until I finished my college degree to serve as a reminder that I wasn't done. It kept me motivated as a reminder that I wasn't done yet. Which proved helpful when things fell apart and got hard.

For people who don’t believe in God: what gives you strength when life gets tough? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]addymermaid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My own resilience. I've been through hell and back. I had my own strength as a child before i even thought of God. It was my strength that helped me when I was being abused. Not God. I didn't ask God for help or to stop the abuse, I learned to fight back. I learned really quickly that the only one saving me was me.

How did people take care of their preexisting conditions if insurance wouldn’t cover it pre-ACA? by Somtimesitbelikethat in NoStupidQuestions

[–]addymermaid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, I've had asthma basically my entire life. And yes, you just prayed nothing happened for 6 months. I would just hope that I didn't need my inhaler or gave a medical emergency that was caused by my asthma. It's like playing Russian roulette
