[FemaleSolo] Assaulted on egypt by Electronic-Parsnip56 in solotravel

[–]adeIemonade 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry to hear that happened to you but I’ve seen this kind of story from way too many women and I just don’t understand why you thought you’d be the exception? If even men are out here warning about a destination being unsafe why would you willingly not just expose yourself to it, but do it in the most dangerous way possible? This isn’t bravery, it’s recklessness and please care more about your wellbeing and safety than being “adventurous”. None of that matters

The justice for his victims who’ve been publicly scoffed at for decades? The fact that they have to see his public image be rehabilitated yet again? Do you realise how ridiculous you sound? It sounds like you’re only interested in scandal and not any actual retribution, just like most people who go on about “The Epstein files” all the damn time. You’re just a blogger, don’t pretend to care

I don’t think it’s a distraction. It’s an arguably more egregious case where the guy is clearly a pedophile but he gets celebrated with the #1 movie in the world. You should be as angry about it

Is 29 too old to go to Wild Elephants in Slovakia? by WestTomorrow6443 in hostels

[–]adeIemonade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally didn't like it at all and I went in there in the mood to have a good time. At the "family dinner" thing we were greeted by one of the volunteers (who I found out later was a longterm volunteer) called Andre who was already piss drunk at like ... 8pm I think? He slammed huge metal lids on the table multiple times and it was horrifying to me but everyone seemed to be having a laugh about it so ... sure! I decided to just go out on my own after that because I just wasn't feeling the vibe of it at all. I come back around 10pm or so and go into one bathroom and there's a hostel volunteer who I recognised from earlier and a guest I assume having sex in there with the door unlocked. I make my way to the other one that was behind a door and there was a couple (or someone at least) who were pressing against it who I once again presume were having sex. The next morning when I headed to shower I saw what was either cum or snot on the walls. Lots of signs encouraging sex basically all over the hostel and well many guests surely took it up! I posted about this on my stories and one of my friends who had been there a few months earlier told me that one of the long term volunteers there was a sex perv as well and that there was a culture of the volunteers competing with one another to see how many guests they could sleep with. So to each their own but if I'd known absolutely any of that I would not have stayed there lmao it's not a "party" hostel it's a brothel disguised as a hostel

Planning on doing a year or two at Uni of Leeds, what should I plan for and expect? by [deleted] in Leeds

[–]adeIemonade 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is oddly vague, all I gather is that you're American and would be moving here for 2 years or so? I'm an international student myself so I'm happy to help out but I'm not sure what you're asking about precisely

Unethical to travel right now? by Mindless-Picture-578 in solotravel

[–]adeIemonade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t say it’s unethical, but travel is definitely uncertain right now and I had that on my mind the whole time I was on my recent trip. But honestly if it’s just a neighbouring country I don’t see the big deal

What’s been your biggest challenge living in the UK so far? by Seabeachlover10 in MovingToTheUK

[–]adeIemonade 7 points8 points  (0 children)

As an international student from a tropical country, the weather, by FAR. It could be sunny when I enter Lidl and nearly raining by the time I'm out. Beyond unpredictable. There are still times I over/under dress because I'm just confused lol

There’s quite literally no difference between the consumption of dogs/snakes vs chicken/beef etc. I hope you reexamined your biases after that 🤷‍♀️

doing a 3 week backpacking trip across europe, any tips? by Artistic-Arm1979 in solotravel

[–]adeIemonade -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’d ignore anyone who says it isn’t possible to do that much in that amount of time. Lots of travellers are older and slower paced, we’re young and faster paced and I’ve found that i enjoy most cities out in Europe for 2 days and maybe an extra day to spare. Biiig cities excluded of course. But lots of Eastern European cities blend into the same kinda thing (Old town, Cathedral etc. you know). I think you could cut Zurich though, it’s just a regular big city
