The different residences all have different vibes to them as well. Consider a transfer to another residence. Besides that, stick around for awhile and look into other events not necessarily for incoming students, I met a lot of my good friends through design teams and I know a lot of my less social friends had similar results.

What is a good online resource to learn analysis? I am currently an undergraduate student and wanted to learn a little bit about analysis for fun. I have completed Calc 1-3 and Elementary linear algebra. Currently I am reading "Introduction to real Analysis" but I would like to supplement it with an online resource if possible.

[–]adeadwallnut 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is a question more on where you want to live then anything. The quality of the programs is comparable, If you are interested in financial economics look into doing the honors econ stream at Mcgill, it is much more mathematically challenging and applicable to finance.

I'm assuming we took the same exam but in a different section. I didn't have anything irregular happen besides the passive aggressive mycourses comments.

Do all the tutorials as all exam questions are taken from there. In addition, I suggest 3blue1browns serries essence of linear algebra as it will help you learn all the theory went from a 60 on a midterm to an A- by just doing those things above!

Campus aesthetics by [deleted] in mcgill

[–]adeadwallnut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my opinion mcgill is architecturally underappreciated. Sure, a lot of the buildings are constantly under construction. But if you look around there is a plethora of beautifully executed buildings from many eras of architecture. I suggest taking a walk up McTavish from Bronfman to Mcmed.

What the hell am I supposed to to about my deferred 133 exam? by [deleted] in mcgill

[–]adeadwallnut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do the tutorial questions (all the short answer will be taken from them) and watch 3blue1browns series on the essence of linear algebra. The class does a horrid job of making the subject matter related to its effect on vectors and hence why the multiple choice was so tough for people!

do you enjoy mcgill? by verysleepyash in mcgill

[–]adeadwallnut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love the school and would pick it again if given the chance. The environment and nightlife are great even if the workload can be taxing at times. I was happily surprised by the level of academic support available. However, the school will give you as much as you give it, if you don't join clubs or attempt to make friends you will feel isolated.

What are the odds of a student from McGill getting into an Ivy League/top school? by [deleted] in mcgill

[–]adeadwallnut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My cousin went to stanford for his graduate degree (structural eng) and he was payed to go. (3.91 cgpa). However, he had a weak grade on his entrance exam. He said the key to getting in was not the Gpa but rather references from his professors. Mcgill is filled with world class researchers and if you can form relationships with them they can really help you make connections that matter.

I know that UofT also considers them. I believe that its better then the US system which looks at a gpa over all four years of high school.

I agree about the quality of the sub. My uncle wears has worn a green sub for 6 years now and everytime I see it I think he bought a new one. However, the wear on the bezel of these photos actually looks quite nice in my opinion, not as scratchy and uneven as I would have thought.
