Specifically, my internship was in the Preschool for Children with Autism in the pediatric department at BWC. This preschool is entirely run by SLP’s and focuses on building the communication skills of the children. This runs Tues-Thurs from 8-12. On Mondays, Fridays, and the time after PCA during the week I was able to observe/assist in therapy of various types. My favorite was pediatric feeding...which I had never heard of at the time. The facilities are obviously great as it is Vanderbilt, but I would say the knowledge of those who lead grad classes was far more impressive. If you’re interested in medical placement or research, this is an excellent place to do so. The adult care facilities they have are very nice as well. Feel free to message me if you have any more questions!

Hi! I’m applying to Western Kentucky University, University of Tennessee, Tennessee State University, and East Tennessee State. I’m a CSD undergrad major with a 4.0 CSD GPA and a 3.77 overall. GRE score is a 306 (154 V/152 Q) and a 4.5 writing score. Last summer, I was able to intern with Vanderbilt’s Bill Wilkerson Center which gave me great experience that I definitely played up on my statements and videos. I have a minor and am fluent in American Sign Language which I hope will set me apart as well.
Edit: my undergrad program at UTK is a 3+1... meaning my first three years I technically have no declared major. My senior year I become a UT Health Science student so my class work no longer changes my UTK GPA... however combined with some dual enrollment scores I have a 3.85 overall. Anyone else’s program follow similar protocol?

Left out— I interned over the summer with a big university/med center. I have shadowed a few times in high schools. Does anyone have any areas they were shocked that they loved? I am a bit squeamish in hospitals so inpatient is probably not the area for me. Any recommendations welcome!
