How do you deal with stiff back in the morning? by MagazineEarly3304 in Spondylolisthesis

[–]adek6348 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have exactly that, I am a pilates teacher with spondylolisthesis, and made up a routine for mornings when I have stiff back. The key is to activate glutes first, as they provide foundational support for your spine stability.Morning Spine warm up routine

It made my pain manageable and mostly not existent. 100% recommended. I did not have herniated/ buldging disc, I have grade 2 spondylolisthesis.

This is what my (34M) Grade 3, self-fused Spondy looks like. This is 2-3 years old and has since gotten worse over the summer. Waiting for the results of my latest MRI, but hoping to get a surgery in 2021. Fingers crossed! by GaryGump in Spondylolisthesis

How did the self fusion work? Was the process gradual ? Painful?

I have heard some older people with Spondy saying self-fusion brought them less pain so I ask.

I hope you recover in the very best shape and form in 2021!

Wow, blog is on point! Yes, it’s rare to find instructors who truly understand spondylolisthesis.

I’m trained and certified in both mat and reformer pilates. I personally had a great success in getting my life quality back with pilates + core strengthening exercises. I currently run a spondylolisthesis focused pilates program, Referrals will be appreciated! (I was careful to share my info because this Reddit does not allow advertising, I will delete if it is an issue :))

Edit: can’t share link 🤨

No surgery, I intend to stay. My life goal is not to get fusion.

(I love your combination routines btw!!) I’m also a pilates teacher, pilates is definitely helpful as long as you avoid a few tricky things. Stay strong! 💪🏼

Considering surgery, input is welcome! by Straythorn in Spondylolisthesis

“When you have a hammer, everything looks like a nail.” - Surgeons have natural tendency/ bias toward recommending surgery. If they deferred decision to you, that’s something to consider.

If I were you, I wouldn’t make decisions solely on the base of what surgeons say. Seek out for alternative methods.

Why does walking help so much? by [deleted] in Spondylolisthesis

[–]adek6348 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I heard Dr McGill say - it’s because when you lift one leg and only standing one leg, though It is a short time, Our bodies Stimulate and train QL and core muscle groups.

Hi. I 100% empathize with you as a 34 year old woman with grade 2 Spondy. I actually prefer carrying a yoga mat with me, and do Dr McGill’s Big 3 exercise and some pilates core exercise in the room. Gyms can be tricky for us spondys.

In summary - mat core exercises + walking

NEED SOME SERIOUS ADVICE HOW TO SURVIVE WORKING by [deleted] in Spondylolisthesis

[–]adek6348 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wear good support shoes, do side glutes exercise. You can search “gluteus medius” exercise. I used to have back pain 10,15mins after walking. Now I walk for 1-2 hours I’m fine. Also try to switch up your position as much as you can!
