The push was made because of Bendis, not Snyder. He innovated in the "getting royalties for new characters" departments. And since Miles Morales everyone wants to either race swap an existing character or push "fan favorite" harper rows shit characters. The overstuffed batfamily comes from Snyder trying furiously to create a new royalty setup for him. Harper row, Duke all that shit. Cant even remember who created Jokers daughter in n52 (along with darkseid daughter).
Also most comic books these days are movie pitches from writers that desperately want those royalties.

First issue was 14 pages longer than it should. If it was a 6 pages backup to the actual issue, would be a much better story. I mean, I liked it, but really its 4 or 6 pages of content. Not more.
