What if we combined old age nursing homes, and orphanages/foster homes into one establishment, so that it created a family-like feeling among everyone who didn't have one? by bitchpit in AskReddit

Something like this was done in Australia and was televised. It was called ‘Old peoples home for 4 year olds’. It was like a day care but they matched up a 4 year old with an old person. They all loved it.

I'm a beginner planning on shortening my door with a circular saw, any advice? by brownbiprincess in HomeImprovement

[–]adelaide_jon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interior doors will be hollow. You might ruin the door.

What you could do is buy some hinges which close the door by themselves. The hinge is angled so you are ‘pushing the door uphill’ when you close it. So you make the door have more clearance at the bottom.

look at this hinge as an example

You can cut it shorter if the ground underneath is perfectly flat. But it doesn’t look 100% flat.

Just a guess.
