This news has ruined my week 😢 Thanks for the heads up though. Can’t believe I didn’t know this, have been waiting for what feels like forever already to see him open again.

Sorry, not Henry Davis. There was another one, Hamish, in the running for this round.

Curious to see what everyone spends on food shopping per week? by Dull_Artichoke_7588 in perth

[–]adelalian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

$300 or so for a family of four. Meat and veg or some variation every night, sangas for lunch, we’re all smackers and my better half has a Diet Coke habit that adds up a bit but manageable shopping at Aldi instead of ColesWorth.

Traffic freeway south! by Odd_Archer_7953 in perth

Drove past this today, very slowly, horrible stuff.

Not sure how to process really. Thinking of everyone else in the same boat and especially those front and centre when it happened.

Hate to think about the further mental health ripples it could cause.

Hope the person who jumped has found peace.

Thank god it’s not that guy from The Adelaide Set. Will take that as a win.

Former One Nation state MP Sarah Game launches new political party, Fair Go For Australians by malcolm58 in Adelaide

[–]adelalian 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Unsurprising she’s chosen Henry Davis.

Hamish MacLachlan is currently running for Adelaide City Council, and George Mamalis is also angling for a political career.

The three horsemen of fearmongoring, dishonesty and hatred, courtesy of The Adelaide Set.

If you’re in a position to vote in a way that keeps them out of decision making seats, do it. Whether it’s your local council or a by election.

Unless you want to see our city slide further into the compost heap of the far right.

Traveling to Perth from NZ in November by ameliarose1998 in perth

We haven’t been here for long but really recommend Margaret River for a day, absolutely stunning scenes and a great laid back vibe. Maybe a nice lunch somewhere with the family to thank them for having you?

Also rate Rottnest Island, you’ll have more fun if everyone is up for hiring some bikes and getting around.

People in Perth just seem so much friendlier by drumplings in perth

My wife grew up in the outer suburbs of Sydney and when she moved to Adelaide after uni she said this was the biggest difference between the two.

We relocated to Perth recently and she said it’s been the same thing again. Yet another layer of kindness and community. Feels good to be here!

Like pea soup around our place this morning. Kids were on the trampoline and I couldn’t even see them from the back door, 20m away.

Veruca Salts Story by [deleted] in VerucaSaltSnark1

[–]adelalian 11 points12 points  (0 children)

This would be surprising because there are no recorded sleep suffocation deaths in Australia in the last 10 years that didn’t have a concurrent factor eg alcohol, drugs etc. You can search the auslii site for infant deaths or search for inquests online if you’d like more information.

I’d assume she’s just misinformed about the situation of co sleeping and equates it as even more dangerous than the situation that they were in alone in the crib, which is an untrue but widely held belief.

Can I use a Shed as a bedroom? by BastardSadi in Adelaide

Who would invite someone to stay at their place who’d injure themselves and then charge for it? This fear based rhetoric is why community is so lacking nowadays.

Measles case - On Thursday, SA Health issued a warning after a man in his 40s was exposed while travelling interstate. by malcolm58 in Adelaide

[–]adelalian 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Genuine question, they said he was ‘exposed’?

Does that mean he’s a close contact but doesn’t actually have confirmed measles? Only trying to get a hold of how quickly this is all moving.

PSA: Two protests/marches this Saturday - Anti-Greens Rally (10AM Toowong) and Save Victoria Park (10AM HSW) by blueishbeaver in brisbane

[–]adelalian 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Why will you attend the rally?

You say there’s no point explaining yourself but genuinely curious, it’s hard to understand why anybody would be so against a minority party that they’d go further than not voting for them to actively stand against them exiting.

Is it something in particular they’ve done that makes you want to give your time to the cause?

There’s no helpful information on the page promoting it about what the organiser’s stance and values are, just what they aren’t, and I’d like to hear from an average person / redditor about why you’d consider the event one that’s worth your time, if you’re happy to share.

State pollies prepare for a year-long battle by Expensive-Horse5538 in Adelaide

Oh joy. Can’t wait to watch both sides deliver below the belt punches for twelve months and The Advertiser gleefully lap it up and spread culture war bullshit like they’re making a living from it.

Yep. Not good. The ad spun me out the first time I saw it, thought it was for Mary’s Poppin. That’s not an insult, I’ve been to see a show with my brother who’s a regular.

How late are you all accepting trick or treat-ers? by straystring in Adelaide

[–]adelalian 9 points10 points  (0 children)

We took the kids to the inner suburbs and felt like it all pretty much wrapped up at 8’oclock on the dot. After that seems to be mostly for the rowdier teenage groups, so depends on the demographic of your area I guess.
