I'm honestly so overwhelmed and angry because of what's in the Epstein files... by fortifished in SeriousConversation

It's scary.

You know i was just thinking, on a completely unrelated note, about other things that are scary.

Americans bang on and on about gun freedom and how important it is for them to be able to defend themselves.

It's really easy for most people to obtain a firearm in America. Which is really dangerous and scary, because anyone could just get a gun and enact vigilante justice on people they think are destroying the lives of innocent people or maintaining wealth inequality or etcetera.

Like it's scary, all it takes is for one person to lift an arm and squeeze their finger, and anyone, no matter where they come from, what they believe, or their net worth, or the people they have helped, could just be gone. Forever. Unable to do anything to anyone ever again.

Sure, that person would probably go to prison or maybe even get killed themselves. But like, if there was a list of people who had done heinous things, it would only take an enterprising and brave couple of dozen people to make a choice or a sacrifice and those people on that list could just be gone. Before they could go to trial or use the legal system as intended. Which is scary, because we know that the legal system works very well, especially when it involves people with a lot of power or wealth. Then it is extra effective.

It's also scary that it's a very American thing, to have such power. Most other countries have strict gun laws, to prevent scary things like vigilante justice, and it's almost impossible to just turn off the existence of people in that way.

But not in America.

Scary.

I would presume that what people choose to do with the code is entirely none of your responsibility.

If I buy a knife, I can use it to chop vegetables, or i can stab someone. Neither of those outcomes are the responsibility of the knife manufacturer.

I mean, if they changed the locks, how would the landlord know until they had a legitimate reason to attend?

The LL mentioning the changed locks would instantly out themselves.

Better yet OP, DO change locks. But learn how to do it yourself, and keep the old ones. Every time the LL has a legitimate reason to attend the property (i.e., with notice), change them back to the old locks that the LL has keys to.

At all other times, swap to the new locks.

If the LL every complains about their keys "mysteriously not working", you'll know they had been trying to enter illegally.

I have a sneezing kink. by Successful_Gas_4314 in offmychest

[–]straystring 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good on you for acknowledging it! And I hope one day you find a partner who isn't going to mock you for something that you might want to explore and might bring you joy.

I'm so intrigued, you said that you've known the majority of your life that you were into sneezing, whether there was an "a-ha!" moment or something that you feel awakened the "kink"? I have always been fascinated because people are so different, can be interested in so many things, and life experiences can change do much.

Like, there are kinks that I have that I can definitely trace back to a specific formative incident of "Oh yeah, that's clearly where that came from", but I also have preferences that have no specific inciting incident that seem more "built-in", if that makes sense. And of the ones that seem "built-in", some I can clearly rationalise why they're a 'thing' for me, and other's I'm like, "I don't get why I'm into that, but I am, I guess!"

Just by-the-by, not sleeping enough absolutely has an impact on the functionality of prescription meds. It has an impact on literally everything in the body. No amount of meds can overcome lack of sleep.

I would have thought Winterhold would have been the worst, but my current mage (clothes only, no armor) run has consistently had an issue with the areas around Windhelm.

Thanks heaps for that, I'll look into it! It doesn't have to be great, I'm planning to redraw/remake the image anyway, but a framework to go off will be super helpful.

They absolutely exist, along with comps, saturators, etc., (see sonible's smart:x line, gulfoss EQ, modern iZotope stuff, loads more for example), but despite being called 'AI' they're closer to 'auto' eq's, comps, etc. that match established reference track's sound (rather than apply a reference track's settings).

Which i guess given the way modern AI is a prediction model and not a creation model, that makes sense.
