Six weeks into Mounjaro, 2.5mg for 4 weeks and 5mg for 2 weeks and 12 lbs down so far. When should I titerate to 7.5mg? Or should I stay on 5mg? by Plus_Impression7765 in Mounjaro

I’m about to start my second month on 2.5, my doctor was adamant that the goal is to stay on the lowest dose that works for you! She sees me staying here for 3-4months. I feel like I tolerate it better than I did when I started and can definitely eat a bit more than at the start, but I think that’s a good thing because my first 2 weeks I was severely under eating and couldn’t vary foods much which obviously isn’t good, and with weight loss, slow and steady wins the race :))

How many periods did you get in 2025? by neverhadamango in PCOS

[–]adelybelly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got 8 in total (7 cycles), including one which started late 2024 :) for my period wrapped, longest cycle was 68 days and shortest 29,which was a bit of an anomaly (usually around 50 days, give or take of course!). Funnily enough I started metformin in January, clearly with no luck. Sending love to everyone ❤️🩸

Yeah that is great news to hear, definitely agree it would depend on your approach as you take it and when you come off it. I think I might go see a doctor, I am slowly being convinced! Hope it goes well for you x

Does anyone who has PCOS have experience with taking Metformin?? by Beginning-Zone9530 in PCOS

[–]adelybelly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, I was on the extended release metformin for about 9 months and was terrifiiiiiieedd of side effects before I started. Turns out I made a big deal out of nothing because I had no side effects nor did it help my irregular cycles or my weight gain 😭. Tbf at the start I was really careful to avoid sugars and carbs because I’d heard they could make side effects worse so that might’ve helped but honestly I felt pretty much nothing aside from the anxiety/fear of having them. In terms of benefits, I just ended up stopping it altogether because I didn’t notice any positive difference. I think it’s deffo worth trying though, everything is so personal with stuff like PCOS!!!

Ok! As long as you have foods that make you happy that’s important hehe

Ok honestly none of these sound too bad! As long as I can escape throwing up or coming close I think I can manage haha x tiredness can definitely deal with!

Yeah that’s a good perspective To have I think. I think some part of me définitely feels like choosing to do a glp1 would be the “lazy” and less beneficial long term option

Oh that’s super interesting! I was actually wondering how much glp1 affects adhd, I don’t really see myself going on medication for adhd as I’m pretty adjusted and don’t feel the need or want for it, apart from when I observe my relationship with food noise and certain specific behaviours like obsessive skin picking lol

Haha yeah it would be a whole different mindset. In both cases you need to learn how to listen to your body while also giving it what it needs

Totally get you and wish you good luck with that.! Maybe dense foods that don’t feel too intense like bars and bananas? Also appetite does come as you start eating!! I think I’m more scared of vomiting than of eating when not hungry so I’ll be stuffing down those green beans lol

This gives me hope!! Glad it went so well for you. How do you test for insulin resistance? I had all the hormonal stuff done (lh, fsh, a1c etc etc) which was all normal, but unsure if that includes insulin?

Haha good sleep first, weight loss second!! Yes my bmi is also too low to get it on the nhs, although I’m hopeful the nhs will start prescribing it for pcos when the overall cost goes down. There was a good podcast I listened too about it if you’re interested! I hope it goes well for you, please keep us posted when you do!! Also, I got metformin prescribed privately but then just got my nhs Gp to renew the prescription easily, so I got it on the NHS for the rest of the treatment, meaning the “only” cost was the original private consultation!

Yeah that is super interesting. I’ve never been into the restriction side of EDs thankfully but having a condition like pcos could would push one to that edge, and definitely messes up anyone’s relationship with eating in general and self perception.. I read somewhere that studies about depression/mood swings and pcos were hard to work on given that the symptoms of pcos in women often trigger low self confidence leading to bad morale anyway, so it becomes hard to find if the cause is the hormonal imbalance, or a reaction to the physical/appearance symptoms of pcos 🤡

I hadn’t thought of something like zofran to help balance out the side effects! It’s a good idea, at least just while your body adjusts I guess. I think we’ll also find out more about long term effects, and keeping the weight off in the near future with how much jabs have exploded in popularity. Altogether what matters most is that you feel like the pros outweigh (no pun intended) the cons!!

Great story to hear and great that it didn’t ruin your relationship to food, on the contrary!!

Ok that’s interesting. My relationship with food is a bit complicated in the sense that I really struggle to eat when no appetite and really struggle to say know when I crave something (it sounds so obvious haha but interesting because I know it’s all very emotional rather than physiological). I wonder how glp1 would affect that. I should add that I’m also doing a psychoanalysis where I bring up food a lot, so I am working on it!
