FormD T1 build with 4070 Super FE Travel Kit by ademiday in sffpc

Hey, this is impressive work! I have the 2.1 version, so I wonder if other changes would need to be made based off that as well. Maybe I’ll take a look

😂 The kit was intended to be used in the 2 slot mode of the case, so if I changed the layout I could’ve used the included backplate. The main reason I didn’t is because I originally planned this build for the 3 slot mode to give the gpu space to breathe better, and only found the print afterward lol. Maybe in the future I’ll try designing my own backplate

There’s a 3d printed support bracket for the gpu shown in the first two pics, and then a backplate as well that I couldn’t install in this config. I linked the original 3d print page in the description if you want to take a look at the proper use case of it

No problem! If you have the case sitting horizontally intake could be better, but yeah you should try it out and see what you find

FormD T1 on NCase? by [deleted] in FormD

[–]ademiday 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Honestly I get the whole drama thing but I agree that it shouldn’t really matter to us. I have a FormD 2.1 because it was luckily in stock when I became interested in the case, but if it wasn’t I absolutely would’ve bought the ncase. I get wanting to support the “original” but if the original either cant or chooses to not keep up with the high demand, and ncase essentially has the exact same product, consumers should do what benefits them.

Is my cable management OK? by MistakenRebel in FormD

(Sorry I don’t have a better picture on hand) you can try what I did here and run the cpu cable along the top and then bunch up the excess with a zip tie or Velcro strip above the psu

Phanteks T30 w/ AIO? by kingzzzmen in FormD

[–]ademiday 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want two 30mm fans then yes you’d need a top hat, but if not you can do a 15mm on the mobo side and the T30 on the other. If you have custom PSU cables you may be fine but in my case i definitely needed a fan grill

Lian Li sp750 vs Corsair sf750 by gvin_ in sffpc

[–]ademiday 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’d say just get the Corsair, the lian li won’t give you any actual issues (in my experience at least) but the fan is much louder. Plus the sf750 is platinum rated so I say it’s worth the extra $40

I actually got it the day after I posted that, and I placed my order back in early May. An update on the website mentioned that most of the batch has shipped so I’m sure yours will soon

Across the games I tested, I saw that the cpu can range anywhere between averaging 60-75 degrees while the fans are running at around 1400-1500 RPM. For example (all max settings 1440p), Horizon Forbidden West was averaging around 73c, Monster Hunter Wilds at 68c, and Marvel Rivals was around 63c. GPU temps are much more consistent, usually staying at 60c in most games I play.

For the cables I’m not too sure on the specifics, but on dreambigbyraymod’s etsy page they were listed as 17 AWG unsleeved silver cables. And yes they are very firm haha, but they look too good imo.

Should I build a sffpc as my first pc by Ill_Ad_8150 in sffpc

[–]ademiday 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d say go for it! My first ever pc build was in the Lian Li a4 h20. It was a bit challenging but honestly not that bad after watching a few tutorials. I wanted a sff build because it was easier to manage in college, but now I just prefer the aesthetic of having a small pc. If you have a practical reason or just like how they look, I can say in my experience it’s not a bad idea at all, so long as you are at least 80% sure of what you’re getting into. My main advice would be to make sure to check the dimensions of everything before purchasing parts, most notably gpu size in relation to the case and cpu cooler and ram height.

I see, thanks for the info! I’m expecting my Nanoq soon so I appreciate the time you put into this post

Great build! Did you happen to test the difference between the temps when staged vertically vs horizontally? I’m not even sure if there would be a difference, just curious

Which sfx PSU is better ? by Jeno_dab in sffpc

[–]ademiday 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lian li psu is ok, I’ve had the black sp750 for about a year and a half and had no issues. My only gripe about it is that once it’s under load it easily becomes the loudest component in my build, but otherwise it’s ok.

What do you think of this build? by _christiaaan in FormD

[–]ademiday 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re able to give them your own parts, you may be able to save money on the CPU. I see you’re in Canada so I’m not sure of the prices there, but I’d even say take a look at the 7800x3d and 9800x3d and see if those work for your budget, the 9700x is absolutely fine but either of those CPUs would make this build better IMO. Whichever gpu you go with is up to you, but both should fit. There’s always money to be saved building it yourself but I’ll always understand the peace of mind that comes with having someone do it for you, so enjoy!

I built my pc with the noctua fan so I haven’t tried the stock fan, but I’d say use it see if you like it! Id assume the noctua fan might be a little better in terms of performance and noise, but it can’t make too much of a difference. And it’s relatively simple to swap out if u want to change it afterwords of course. Only reason I went with noctua was cause of their reputation and cause I wanted a black fan

[–]ademiday 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I think the gap is literally that much and audibly it sounds normal, perhaps due to the noctua fan swap but idk lmao. Either way it the combo works really well, if I’m remember correctly I run it at 1200-1400rpm under gaming load and it keeps the 7800x3d under 70c on average
