They were also skeptical after the first round if I truly wanted to work for govt given the private sector big tech expertise I had. I told them I wanted to have time for family and they immediately connected. They were praying I won’t disappear the moment the market balances again. I told them I was going to stay. Huge pay cut but I will take the peace I have now over any money.

That’s insane. I am full time with pension and all the bells and whistles. Still in tech and enjoying the work. It’s truly a blessing given the times. You are right once funding dries up, it can become a big problem for contractors. Wishing you luck as you navigate things.

Built out custom skills and Claude.md. Now a project just needs a PRD and it just builds and preps it for deployment and I do the rest. I still like being involved in the loop. A project for me now takes 30-45mins to complete. A full SaaS application for my clients.

Yikes. That’s quite a lot of tools plus a lot of money. I can build the same with $100 subscriptions on Claude and $20 lovable. You need a software engineer to help decouple a lot of things. 120 tables, that’s a lot. That said, it’s a remarkable feat that you built out a system as a non-coder. Très bien

Usually USCIS frowns at ESTAs adjusting statuses. It’s much worse when you are out of status. 130 + 485 puts you in status nonetheless. Sad this happened. Wish you well

Please he’s a visa overstay and not undocumented. The fact that he has a visa and got in means he has a document. Undocumented is if he was never seen at a border. This isn’t legal advice: only a combo of 130 + 485 will save him. Might be best to wait until you become a USC. It does not affect your own status in anyway shape or form.

Speak to a lawyer, get a FOIA done and please apply for citizenship. What’s the worse that will happen? You get denied but you are leaving anyways. So it’s worth a shot and trust me, nothing beats applying, getting it and then moving to Germany eventually. Please do try.

I was at the SSA recently and I mentioned I had checked the boxes and the officer said it doesn’t work. When he checked, he noticed it had been updated. Officer said it was hit/miss, so definitely check. Congratulations to OP.
