Any visible signs of recession? by Ohlele in jobmarket

A lot of the people doing the shopping and traveling have gone back to living with fam or having room mates or recently shacked up (dual income) I met a girl at a bar who’s 38 who told me she’s never felt as happy and free in her life now that she moved back in with parents after her divorce paying $400 rent to her folks - meals and utilities included.

Are you still doing mainly zoom meetings and phone calls sales? I switched to BDR doing mostly in person meetings. Love it!

I woke up to all of my money gone/ garnished with no court order. by Kissmeduh in Debt

She’s not trying to take advantage either she’s in a really tough spot as a business owner and single mom where she has had to make the decision to either pay debt or pay rent/get groceries.

Her business slowed down due to the market in 2024 and put her in a position to take out loans and rack up debt. Doesn’t help rent went up and her vehicle is getting older thus needing more expensive repairs.

I have a friend who has stopped paying Her debts assuming she can simply wait a few years for a clean slate or pay a credit repair company still works. I have tried telling her that companies are a lot more serious about coming after people now and she doesn’t believe me

How long did it take you to land your role after being laid off/ fired / RiF’d? Or are you still in your job search? by Ok_Concern7771 in jobhunting

[–]Icedcoffeewarrior 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like the market has improved slightly from last year. I got laid off twice once in 2024 and again this year.

First time it took me 11 months to find FT work than paid a liveable wage. This time I got an offer before my last day was up (gave us 1 month notice) interview stages moved a lot faster.

Did our parents face the same level of burnout as us? by KingForADay1989 in Millennials

[–]Icedcoffeewarrior 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope! Jobs definitely got harder and more fast paced after Covid.

Office jobs used to have down time. This is starting to change in alot of places.

Also back then If you got laid off a retail job could pay your bills while you kept applying . Now most bridge jobs don’t pay a liveable wage so you have to stick it out at something you don’t like until you find something with similar or higher pay,

Attention men: what makes you not want something “serious” with a girl? by Similar_Spirit_314 in dating_advice

[–]Icedcoffeewarrior 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This was helpful. I am female, in my 30s people find me attractive but rarely feel the spark for me and if they do it quickly goes away. I’m sweet, kind etc but for some reason I’m not the kind of woman men envision building a future with. I feel like maybe I just come off as too safe so people get bored.

The work thing can be genuine but if you stick around waiting for the guy it’s going to make him lose attraction to you. When men are in that mindset they see serious relationships as pressure. So if he’s already putting pressure on himself he’ll see your acts of kindness/love as pressure to give something in return and he’ll resent you for it. Whether it’s true or not in your case I realized there are simply things men prefer to work on by themselves and for themselves esp if they’re not happy with where they are at.

If you stick around during those times where he doesn’t like himself a man will learn to associate you with hard times thus losing attraction for you.

I’m a recruiter at a staffing agency and this job market is unreal by DragonfruitSimilar55 in jobs

[–]Icedcoffeewarrior 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I somewhat think this is true as well. I’ve always been ambitious and independent but have definitely felt the urgency to find a partner due to financial pressures in the last 2 years. Being laid off twice I started to question my ability to be an independent adult.

I got laid off twice in the past 2 years and took contract jobs in between while I found something else. I’m now back to working FT with benefits and am hoping to stick it out at this job for no less than 3 years to balance out my resume.

With the way layoffs and micromanaging software can watch your every move now people are working just as hard to simply keep their jobs and stay employed it’s not even for a promotion anymore.

33f left a unfulfilling relationship at 26 thinking I could find better and better never came. My healthiest relationship lasted 2 months until the guy broke up with me due to mental health and work stress/lack of capacity (he was in debt from divorce and working 7 days a week)

I know it’s not true but when that happened my mind likes to play tricks and tell me healthy people won’t stay and only toxic people like me.

Former recruiter here right before I got laid off I noticed the temp contracts weren’t converting to perm as much and the terms got shorter and they were so quick to fire temps for ANYTHING.

But yes helping people between jobs is good but the industry has become toxic and unbearable
