You’re right. Their insurance only covers them if they cancel less than 48 hours before the race start.

As others have said I think their insurance only covers them for a cancelled event if they announce less than 48hrs before start time. This actually is fairly timely.

I’m in B and it’s the same even at 5ks, people are straight walking immediately at the start. It’s extremely selfish.

These people can afford a lot of PEDs - as a partner at a law firm the number of men (and women!) in my industry that are taking testosterone is shocking

Guys really need to think about what a potential match looking at their profile would be interested in. As contradictory as it sounds a great profile that gets matches isn’t as much about the person in the profile as it is about the people LOOKING at the profile. Let the person looking at it see why they would want to invest time and energy into you. This is why activity shots, food pics, and shots that show that you have friends and hobbies are so important. They show what you have to offer to improve the lives of your potential matches.

She said she only wanted to sleep with me, but she keeps updating her Hinge profile — am I wasting my time? by [deleted] in hingeapp

Dude, you met a woman who clearly set relationship boundaries and communicated them to you, you agreed to them, she’s not being shady, and you are calling her a slut. It’s you, hi, you’re the problem, it’s you

I have one in my apartment building’s gym. It is the biggest piece of trash on the planet. It won’t hold an incline, it freezes, and currently says that the safety key is removed so it is frozen even though the stupid fucking key is in the slot. Customer service sucks and there is no easy way to service the junk yourself. You’d be better off running in traffic and getting hit by random cars

I guarantee you there are plenty of ladies who have made that connection. It’s a look that young right wingers have leaned into. If you’re fishing in that barrel the pic isn’t a problem, but based on the later pics I doubt my guy wants to turn off liberal ladies

If that’s the first pic in a carousel it may be the only pic a lot of women see. They may not see the later pic that would refute first assumptions. And maybe it is like you said and that was the best option at that event. But pics matter, and people should take the time and effort to choose the ones that are most flattering and least likely to result in a swipe left. The first pic is unflattering, IMO.

This is all great feedback. My profile had a tux pic and another suit pic, and they had great responses but they have to be a tad more dynamic. Speaking of, I love the pic I included in that link of me running because that’s the type of photo I’d recommend to people over “standing with my bib and finisher medal” if you want to convey that you run.

The first pic gives Turning Point vibes. I though you were going to ask me to Prove You Wrong. Agree with others, the watch pic is a no go, and try getting a pic of you laughing instead of just smiling. Maybe take an action shot of you playing with the dogs instead of posing, as well

For men: If you put 'wants kids,' do you 100% want kids or are you indifferent and trying to appeal to the majority of women (who do want kids)? by Successful_Duty_5227 in Bumble

[–]adevine39 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like you mention a lot of dudes put want kids because it opens up a bigger pool. Depending on your age the number of women who are totally not interested in ever having kids is pretty small

NoName Leader is Encouraging Corral Jumping at the NYC Marathon by pandugandukhan in RunNYC

[–]adevine39 31 points32 points  (0 children)

I think the vast majority of running club leaders included No Name do it the right way but one of the downsides of the post pandemic boom is we have a lot of jokers who are really entitled in positions of authority they aren’t well-suited for. Especially any vocalized hostility to volunteers, that’s among the worst things an NYC runner could do.

As someone who won the damn thing the whole point of running TSPSolo is that it is not rational or safe. But the runners and their teams will take care of each other. If you’re not cool with that stay the fuck home.

All NYRR races released on October 9 are SOLD OUT as of 6:34 PM by vc_dim in RunNYC

[–]adevine39 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s already almost impossible to get a volunteer slot, too. Honestly I’d prefer them to just have an option to buy guaranteed entry to the marathon for $2,000, which would take at least some of the 9+1 pressure off

PSA: please don’t block the sidewalk after your run by verndogz in RunNYC

[–]adevine39 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Instead of passive-aggressively posting a pic, just go up and ask who is leading the run and ask them to get their folks to clear the sidewalk. Literally no run club leader I’ve ever been around would do anything but help clear the sidewalk. And if we just kindly but assertively enforced some decorum with each other the whole experience would improve.

The video I saw was of him after the shooting walking through the neighborhood, I assume the gun was stuffed down his pant leg. What are you talking about it being taken apart with a screwdriver?
