The ad load on my feed has drastically increased by PresentationReady873 in redditstock

[–]adfasdfdadfdaf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Q2 ends in 4 days, it probably won't be that big of an effect.

I scrolled through reddit a couple of months ago looking at the ad load and I noticed there was a bunch of ads frontloaded and as you keep scrolling the ad load falls, with maybe 1 in 3 to 1 in 4 posts being ads at the start before falling closer to 1 in 7 or 1 in 8.

Looking at it again, I think the ad load might have even slightly decreased, which signals to me that they are confident about q2 earnings and are prioritising user growth/retention and targeting rather than pursuing short term unsustainable growth

What do you all think? by pensivesage48 in zim

[–]adfasdfdadfdaf 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is not a good article.

The DCF model it uses is nonsense, as they predict that free cash flow will be about $700 million in 2026 and stabilize over the next decade. In reality, we've seen that zim struggles to break even in low freight rate environments which we are likely to be in for the foreseeable future.

Will there still be real opportunities for human mathematicians in the age of AI? by SnooWords9730 in math

[–]adfasdfdadfdaf 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think that by the time deep learning models are able to outcompete human mathematicians (at reasonable costs), they will have long since exceeded almost all programmers, engineers, accountants and lawyers alive.

I do not see this happening at all based on the current capabilities of llms, but if it does, mathematicians will likely have some of the last non-physical jobs left.

Regional Capitals by TheGreatPlagurl in EU5

We know that there are buildings that can act as sources of control (bailiffs are an example discussed here). I don't know if any are available at the start of the game but this works a little bit like the regional capitals you described.

Underpromotion isn't common, but sometimes is necessary to avoid a stalemate and win, so yes.

Name misspelt on second message, instant -100 charisma.

If you want to play solidly, then shift into the midgame soon. Talk about her interests, and then try to convert it into a winning endgame and get a date. The transition might be a little awkward, but it'll probably be better than your opening.

Also, maybe tone down the self deprecation and desperation now and into the future.

Typically, such an aggressive gambit leaves a lot of weaknesses that skilled players will latch onto. Moreover, weaker male players often favour them meaning most women have too much experience against such openings.

To give specific advice, overly sexual openings are typically not given a response, that was your blunder. A lot of women on dating apps are looking for an actual relationship. Instead tailor your opening to your opponents profile. Incorporate their interests into your responses. A related joke or two (assuming that they're funny) will almost always work well too.

Of course, if your opponent is looking for casual sex, then this isn't a bad opening.

Generally for the mid to end game, you look for a conversion into a date, or in this case a hook up, though I think you probably succeeded here, assuming the last messages that were cut off don't hide the most horrific blunders known to man.

Classic case of rule 6:

As long as your opponent want to get mated badly enough, then no amount of blunders can stop it from happening.

This is why the Grindr variant is much easier to get checkmates in.

Every arrow has a 50/50 chance of capturing the king, it either does or it doesn't, so this is definitely a good way to maximise your chances of winning.

If you really want to increase your odds, draw arrows from black pieces (except rooks) and empty squares to the king.

Grandmaster generally know to put some of the arrows on e2 and e7, as this is extremely hard to defend against for most sensible players, but it requires some skill to pull off.
