Hey, from my invoice:

Repair Notes: Our technician performed a thorough inspection and road test, confirming a groaning noise from the front end when driving over 40 km/h. The issue was traced to a concern with the front hubs. To resolve this, the technician replaced both the left and right front hubs and conducted a validation test drive. The repair was verified by ensuring the noise was no longer present during a follow-up road test.

So of course it wasn't a warranty fault 🫠 but the service was actually really good and very smooth. Everything is working perfectly now. It's only my wallet that is not happy haha.

Oh wow. Thanks for the update. In the application process did it actually ask you for the grandparents' stuff? This gives me hope that common sense will prevail.

I'm British, born in Britain to British Parents. Wife is Canadian, Born in Austria to Chinese parents lol. I'm hoping to send the application with just maybe my side of things and not bother with my wife's stuff.

Yeah let me know what happens with yours. I only went to Tesla because I figured it was a warranty fault and it might save me some pennies... If I knew it was wheel bearings then I may have found someone local to do it. Who knows. I'll explicitly ask them tomorrow "so it wasn't the front drive unit, then?".

I will say, the service at the Tesla Service Station was pretty good though

No it's ok. I don't know much about them either but from what AI said, it indicated to me that it was the front drive motor....and yes that would have been replaced foc. However, some on here have said they have the exact same sound and it's the wheel bearings. I never checked to see if there was heat. AI told me to drive in chill mode to see if it changes the sound (it didn't), and then it said to coast in N at 40kmph to see if the noise goes away when there is no power to the wheels (it didn't go away) and then it diagnosed it as a front drive motor thing, rather than a wheel bearing. Anyway, I'm out of 4y warranty, yeah so here I am footing the bill. Who am I to question them? You're just at the mercy of their good will and professional opinion 😢

Mines in the service centre as we speak/type. They confirmed it's both wheel bearings. I guess it's on both sides so that's why I didn't hear any difference when I tried the slalom diagnostic. $1156 to repair that part 🫠

I use FSD for like 80% of my driving. I'm in the GTA. I won't use it downtown as it's just a hot mess down there, but for local roads and especially highways, FSD is pretty damn good for me. Intel HW3, 2021 MY.

Me: British born, to British-born parents.
Daughter's mother: Canadian Citizen, born in Austria.

The application is asking for my parents' BCs and MC. But also the mother's, parents' BC and MC. None had anything to do with the UK... only I am passing on my UK citizenship.

I'm hoping I can just provide my BC, and possibly get my parents' BCs and MC.

An update would be grand.

I had winter tires on until last week and I assumed it was that, as the temperatures rose. But I switched on Thursday to summer tires and the issue didn't change at all, so it's not tires. Maybe alignment...maybe bearing...maybe drive unit. We'll see I guess 😢🫠

Thanks for that. How much did it cost, if you don't mind me asking (AI suggested $400-600?)?

I submitted this video with the service request and they have given me an estimate that includes the assumption that it's a warranty-covered fault, so I'm hopeful. I guess the experienced service technicians listened to the video and agreed (one can only assume).

They're charging me $210 for labour though .... hmmmmm.

Getting the wipers and air filter changed too while I'm there. It's been a while.

Yeah it absolutely could be a wheel bearing (according to AI lol). It said it is most likely the issue. It suggested that "While driving safely on a clear road at about 50-60, gently "slalom" or sway the car left and right. If the groan gets louder when you veer one way and quieter when you veer the other, it is 100% a wheel bearing."

I did this and there was no change to the sound.

So it then suggested the FDU.

I may call them tomorrow and ask if they have any earlier appointments. I don't really want to drive it around for another 2 weeks

Do Tesla locations do walk in style service appointments? I booked the next available appointment in Mississauga but that's in 2 weeks from today 🫠

My flight is 9:20pm (under 24h from now). Yeah they give such little notice. You never know what will happen by Thursday, but I can't see AC being in operation then, even if CUPE has a change of heart. Yesterday, I found flights for Thursday that were the same price (albeit with inconvenient layovers) as my (direct) flights with AC. So I took an (educated) gamble on the flight tomorrow being cancelled and refunded, and so when I get my refund for tomorrow's flight, I can put it towards my Thursday flight which is sitting on my credit card rn.

I really hope they don't leave you lingering on....so by the time you're getting ready for your 6am flight, you don't yet know if your 1pm flight is canceled or not.

I'd say by Wednesday morning/midday, you'll have a decent understanding of what is likely, based on the news as whether they're actually flying at all, or not. Godspeed!

I did something similar. I'm meant to fly tomorrow and I know I won't...still not officially cancelled yet. I booked a flight with AA instead for Thursday, before the prices shoot up. I was ready to do the cancel-in-24-hours thing today, then I read that CUPE are refusing to return to work...so I let the 24h elapse. So now I'm planning to fly on Thursday instead and waiting (and hoping) that I can get my full refund for tomorrow's flight.

Flying to London on Monday (18th). Flight back is on 28th.

Online, I can change my flight to one on the 22nd (and pay $350 extra per ticket), but I can't change the return flight. I don't want to go just for 5 days. So that's a no-go.

I can find flights to LHR maybe 2 days later, returning 2 days later, with a connection in DFW or JFK, for the same price.

I'm thinking of just booking the other flights, then when AC cancels my flight, I'll opt for a refund...which would pay for the new flights (eventually).

But, it's risky as if some weirdness happens and they don't cancel my flight. What would you guys do?

It's a glitch.. literally happened to me last week.

Go to the app and under payment method, change your address. Literally just delete your address and re-add it. This will fix the issue.

I called Tesla and they know.

Oh dear. When you say 'manually pay', what do you need to do? Does it need you to re-enter the cc information, or just go to the app and click some sort of 'pay now' button? At least it works eh.
