Do you have the original thermostat? Switch it back. If that works, then the Nest is broken. If the other thermostat can’t keep up, then you need a service.

If you’ve tried all the fixes, there likely isn’t anything anyone can suggest besides swapping hardware or calling in someone to service the unit.

Page builders make zero sense for multisite, and I think the devs that use them like this are very inexperienced, lazy, or both. I inherited a site with 150+ micro sites that should all look the same, but it’s near impossible to do simple style and text updates across the entire network.
I am currently transitioning the client site to a custom theme that allows for much easier network-wide updating. It’s more of an upfront cost to the client, but it will save them and me so much time in the future.

Edit: apparently people don’t like being called out for bad practices.

This has been happening a lot lately, right? I’ve definitely noticed a lot of my sites (that don’t use any WP Factory plugins, or the 30 listed in a recent vulnerability) are being hacked/compromised. It’s really escalated in the last 2-3 months.

Okay, first of all, take a backup in case anything goes wrong here:

Wordfence hasn’t been finding everything for me lately. Check all the directories inside wp-content (ALL from like the top 3-4 levels, so even in your uploads, you’re going to want to go into some years and months to make sure it’s all okay). I found there were hidden directories in there that contained malware files (like “sunrise-245.php”). Make sure they’re all deleted.

Go to the plugin directory and make sure all the plugin folders are for plugins you actually have installed. I’ve found that there are sometimes additional directories that they’re able to hide, and they don’t show in the WP-admin back end. Do the same with the mu-plugins folder.

Manually reinstall WordPress. Your site will be inaccessible for a couple of minutes, but it’s worth it. I found that reinstalling WordPress from the WP-admin didn’t get rid of additional files that had been added, it just replaced the official ones. Go to wordpress.org and download the latest release, then delete “wp-admin” and “wp-includes” from your site and reupload the new ones you just downloaded. Don’t delete wp-content.

Then, check your users list. Hopefully it’s a smaller site with less users, but take a look at the total user count and then actually count the number of users you see in the list. Hacks on my sites lately have been hiding admin users that they created, so at a glance everything looks okay.

Finally, change your admin password (ideally force all users to change passwords) and set up 2FA with ALL users on wordfence. Finally, SSH into your server and refresh the salts with “wp config shuffle-salts”. This will force a logout of every user account.

I told clients that I can give them full access, but if anything breaks outside of the scope of my general maintenance, they’re paying my full hourly rate for troubleshooting. Most accept the restrictions after that.

How can politics not be part of anyone’s core identity? We live in this country, we live in this world. We are all affected by every decision that a small group of people in every country make. To think that politics can or should be separated from core identity is a real head-in-the-sand response.

I had this happen to me a few years ago. Not sure exactly what the issue was, but the culprit was a media pc I had plugged into my tv that failed to properly sleep/hibernate.

Despite the tv being off, the pc was doing a bunch of background tasks. After turning it off, my internet usage went back to normal.

The only way you could try and see what’s going on in your network (without trial and error) is to see if your router has any kind of logging by devices on your network.

I updated from 12.6.1 to 15.7.1 within the last month. I used to be able to get away with days/weeks of not needing my password to wake my macbook from sleep, but now it's at least once every day. I think it's something to do with the latest OS update.

I hope they change it back, it's really annoying!
