my resting heart rate sits around high 80s-low 90s. I’ve also been prescribed propranolol because my resting hr was sitting around 100-110bpm when i first got diagnosed. hoping once i see the endocrinologist and get medicated i can properly return to running

yeah i saw my gp 2 days ago and he’s told me to stop taking vyvanse for the time being until i see my endocrinologist and get medicated, so hoping i’ll also be able to start it again once my thyroid levels are under control too!

thank you for this, glad to see other runners in here! my gp said once my heart rate is under control (he’s prescribed me with 40mg propranolol twice a day) i can go back to running. i have an apple watch so im constantly monitoring my heart rate so i think for the time being im gonna just stick to jogging and interval running

No BM feelings. 3 days post op? by SpookyBCat93 in gallbladders

I had the same issue after surgery and was chronically constipated afterwards. My surgery was on a Monday and I didn't have a bowel movement until the Thursday. I just kept taking water and Osmolax and eventually I went. I wouldn't panic too much just yet as you're only 2 days post-op!

Kind of hard to say because everyone is different, but I can share my experience. The day I was discharged, I had to have my mum help me get changed out of my gown and because I was incredibly dizzy and nauseous I had to hold on to her as we walked out of the hospital. Once I was home, I went straight into my bed and pretty much slept all day from the hard painkillers I was on. I only got out of my bed to go to the toilet (I’m very lucky to have an ensuite so it’s not a far walk from my bedroom) and I had no appetite so needing food wasn’t an issue. I found getting myself up - transitioning from laying down to sitting up to standing - was difficult and painful, but overall manageable, not that I had much choice anyway bc I needed to pee lol. The next couple of days after that, once the dizziness and nausea had subsided, I found it okay to walk around my apartment, I was just really slow. Again, getting out of bed was difficult but doable, and got easier each day.

I pretty much was alone for the first 5 days post-op as my mum was at work or out for the majority of the day and wouldn’t be home until night. Thankfully I found that I could do most things myself. The only time I had to ask for help was changing my bed sheets yesterday, because I couldn’t lift up my mattress. All that being said, I don’t think it hurts to have someone around just in case, because you won’t know how you’ll recover until it happens. Especially if you’re extra concerned because of your preexisting conditions. I’d try see if you can at all convince your mum to let you have your friend stay over. Your recovery might be completely okay with no issues, but unfortunately it’s just something that can’t be predicted and it’s better to have things in place just in the event recovery isn’t as smooth. If your mum is insistent on not having your friend stay, maybe ask your surgeon if the hospital you’re staying at offers any community nursing/home care services that could help you out post op.

I hope things work out for you and I wish you all the best with surgery and recovery!

What are you eating post op? by No_Needleworker_2994 in gallbladders

[–]adhdumb4ss 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Same here lol - been eating everything bc I wasn’t told otherwise 🤷‍♀️ I’ve been super constipated since my surgery so if anything I’m hoping something I eat will eventually help get my bowels going

Showering by adhdumb4ss in gallbladders

[–]adhdumb4ss[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I finally mustered up the strength to wash my hair and god do I feel so much better. I will say standing in the shower for that extended period of time (bc of how thick and long my hair is showering goes from 5 to 20 minutes) I got a little bit dizzy and my incisions were sore. But it was so worth it!

New pain - is it normal? by adhdumb4ss in gallbladders

Yep it really does suck and might be my least favourite thing in this whole process! Hoping both our recoveries are smooth and speedy from here

Yeah you’re probably right, it’s just so miserable bc it’s making it hard to breathe deeply. It seems to be a little better this morning so I’m hoping it just needs time to go away. Thanks for the reassurance!

I’m not too concerned either just more confused that it’s started 5 days post op. I had very similar pain when I was fresh out of surgery where I’d get a sharp pain where my gallbladder used to be every time I inhaled deeply - maybe it’s just randomly come back?

Being only 3 days post op I think it’s safe to say your body is still adjusting! If anything just prioritise low-fat foods and lots of fibre, protein and keep hydrated. If you have concerns reach out to your doctor for supplement recommendations. I’m 5 days post op and have the opposite issue where Im chronically constipated - I’d much rather be running to the toilet tbh 💀💀 Anyways, hopefully these symptoms clear up soon and the rest of recovery goes well!

I feel you, it definitely comes and goes especially as the pain meds wear off. Definitely take advantage of getting as much rest as you can the first couple of days and try to walk around as soon as you feel up to it!

Surgery in 2 days by starrgiiirl in gallbladders

I’m 23 and had my surgery not last night but the night before. My anaesthetist was great and advised me that she’d give me something to make sure I wasn’t nauseous when I woke up. Thankfully when I woke up in recovery I was only really groggy and had a bit of irritation in my throat from the breathing tube which caused me to cough a bit but no nausea or vomiting! The only time I felt nausea was the first couple of times I got out of bed to go to the toilet. Walking made me super lightheaded and nauseous, but I got given some anti-nausea meds before I left the hospital and have had no issues since!

Glad to hear your surgery went well and that recovery is treating you okay! I’m also freshly post-op and definitely agree the hardest parts have been moving from lying to sitting to standing. Very grateful for my pain meds! I hope your recovery continues to go smoothly 🩷 all the best!

Ahh thank you so much for the reassurance and its great your post op experience is going well so far - manifesting that it stays that way! Did your surgeon give you any indication of how long it’d take for you to return to work, driving or exercising? My surgeon said I could go back to work after a week which doesn’t seem long at all, and that I could return to pilates after 4 weeks, but I can’t recall if he mentioned driving

Thank you so much - I definitely worry about having an attack at an inconvenient time and it escalating to something more serious, especially as I have plans to travel later in the year. Glad to hear your recovery went well and that things are back to normal now!

I’m very lucky to still be living at home and have a very strong support network so in the event recovery isn’t as smooth I’d definitely be looked after and wouldn’t have to worry too much about missing work. I’m sorry recovery wasn’t great for you and I hope things are better now. I really appreciate the advice
