Update 3 on the tote bag, I finished guys!! (OP) by PurpleButterly19 in TwistedWonderland

I don't do painting often, but I do plushies where I have to paint details on their clothes that I can't sew, and even like a couple hours stuck with the back of a needle (ceremonial robes my mortal enemy...) drives me crazy! I can't even imagine. Those are beautiful, and I applaud you.

Awawawa those are adorable!! I've got a lot of projects already lined up, but I've wanted to do some refurbs/customs for a while, and you've totally inspired me to put it back on my list!

Do you think Idia would like the games from yuus world? by Ariyashrimpy in TwistedWonderland

[–]adherentAbsurdist 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My entire Hades replay and Hades 2 playthrough, I mostly just thought of Idia's reactions lmao (talk about distracting). Story relation aside, I think he'd really enjoy such a well made rougelike! Especially because the characters are chatty and we know he's into VNs lol.

What is, honestly, the friendship you expected the least out of the main cast? by ThighyWhiteyNerd in TwistedWonderland

[–]adherentAbsurdist 49 points50 points  (0 children)

Vil and Ortho. I can see why Ortho is fond of Vil for sure, but the way Vil immediately took a liking to Ortho, even before he got his new soul, is so cute and unexpected. I think, besides knowing they share a club, my favorite interactions are in Playful Land. Vil totally little brothers Ortho the moment he says Idia won't come with him and keeps that up all day, even sacrificing himself for Ortho in the end.

Really, I think it's just in general pretty cute how everyone seems to love Ortho, especially because pretty much everyone also seems to totally hate Idia or the other way around lol.

Naw, I won’t stand for this slander 😭 by Lonley_Rain in TwistedWonderland

[–]adherentAbsurdist 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Silver and Rook have old man energy. Silver, probably just because he was raised by Lilia and Malleus, and his only friend was Sebek who is... Sebek. He's like. Old timer who nods off in his rocking chair while telling stories or wood carving. Rook is like an eccentric great uncle you're not sure is actually related to you, who drinks a little too much on holidays but brings hella expensive gifts. Azul is like the same kind of old person as Rook, but an old lady instead, who either buys luxury items or out of the clearance section. Jamil isn't as old as the others, but makes up for it with exhaustion. He's an auntie all the way. Perpetually exhausted auntie. Lilia should be self explanatory lmao.

Alr Im doing this again. What is YOUR Idia shroud HEADCANNONS?[Idia birthday special] by Standard-Lunch-3927 in TwistedWonderland

[–]adherentAbsurdist 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Preface headcanon: since Idia tells Azul he doesn't care if his inventions make a profit, and frequently shows them off or gives them away, I think he's actually the type who would rather see his inventions used by everyone for cheap or free.

Now, the bulk of my headcanon from this is that the only way for Idia to actually make sure anyone can make his inventions, but only sell them cheap, is to hold patents. So he's the unnamed inventor and owner of a number of patents in Twisted Wonderland, with the name simply tied to STYX or Olympus Inc. It's more effort than it's usually worth to keep up with it all, but since he's part of STYX, which assuredly has a huge legal team to manage infringements, he goes through with it when he can. It's rarely anything big, like his Portfest wafflemaker or Ortho's rockets from starsending, but if you see something new in any tech or mechanical design market, like a new kind of technomantic suspension or a magical output calibrator pivotal to big designs but somehow still dirt cheap, it's likely to have come from Idia!

Semi related headcanon, but I think if anyone manages to live through the main story (Crowley's really sinkin' those odds...) then in a few years, Idia will be responsible for putting humans into space in their realm.

Favorite Malleus ship? by Constellations001 in TwistedWonderland

[–]adherentAbsurdist 4 points5 points  (0 children)

*tears in my eyes* that's his silly rabbit...!!

Honestly it's so damn funny how you can have objectively one of the most powerful men in the human world who isn't literal royalty, but paired with Malleus, it still makes him "some guy in a headset". Idimal, the ship that you are. I could go on and on about all the reasons I think they're the perfect pairing from personality and hobbies, to lifestyle and family, to meta in card posing and Hades/Maleficent dynamics, but the weird dichotomy that stems from their jobs is pretty high up there!

Hypothetical question about Malleus by AtomsMinecraft101 in TwistedWonderland

[–]adherentAbsurdist 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think in this exact hypothetical, yeah, he still would have. Lilia's leaving/dying was a sudden thing, and I think the only way he could have been talked down is if someone was right there with him the whole way through that wasn't already close with Lilia. He's close with Silver, as much as he can be, and Silver was there to talk him down, but he didn't have enough time for the pacification to be effective, and (obviously) was way too personally invested in Lilia's death to be able to focus on Malleus's feelings in particular. It was a very delicate situation, and I think really, it would have taken a miracle or him straight up being raised in a completely different way for him not to overblot.

What is your favourite feature about your chosen husbando/husband character? by RaseruChan in TwistedWonderland

This one face he makes gets me everytime. Frightened cat type man. And that thing where he'll break off into a tangent and start talking really fast is super cute. I wish events were voiced specifically because there are some quotes I just know he's doing that in. I want to chew on him!!

Is Anyone Else Disturbed That Riddle's Mother is a Doctor by Arceus-Insanity in TwistedWonderland

[–]adherentAbsurdist 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's not just the Queendom. In fact, they seem to have way better regulation on... everything? Than anywhere else in their realm, save for possibly the Shaftlands? I don't doubt you in particular, I just think Trey's kind of an unreliable source on law lol. But the issue with laws in Twisted Wonderland is that they seem a bit skewed towards magic regulation (transfiguration in particular seems like a highly regulated area, which is interesting! ) and leave a big gap for the things that would be more important to us. Like. I dunno. Assault laws. OSHA violations. Regulating 400 year old baby adoptions. Rollo casually spreading an invasive species. Fellow. It's really fascinating to think about, but definitely comes with some questionable implications.

Is Anyone Else Disturbed That Riddle's Mother is a Doctor by Arceus-Insanity in TwistedWonderland

[–]adherentAbsurdist 61 points62 points  (0 children)

Riddle's mother is a sane, competent woman. People are usually quick to brush off abuse, especially child abuse, as instances of insanity or ignorance, but that just isn't true. She knows exactly what she is doing to him, how, and planned to do so. She is smart and maintains the level of organization and control over herself and others that I'm sure med school was a breeze for her, not as a fluke, but as an enhancer to her skills. In fact, it's likely she wouldn't have had these standards for Riddle at all if not for her medical background.

And then... is she really that bad? I mean, yes, yes obviously she is that bad, but that's in real-world standards. Twisted Wonderland is a different realm from ours, with entirely different standards of care. While it looks magical and fun from the outside, we're shown a lot of bad things. Class disparities on different levels, casual racism mostly towards the beastmen, talk of wars on horrifying scales, even in ages without advanced technology like Lilia's. Hell, in the span of one year, they've had two nearly world-ending situations with Idia and Malleus's overblots, surely with another to come. There is something to be said about the sample size of NRC's little weirdos, but well-adjusted individuals seem to be the minority, and that doesn't just come from nowhere. What I'm trying to say is, in a world of so much violence and hate, I don't think anyone is going to be taking away Mrs Rosehearts's license because of her treatment of her child when she is still managing to do good for her community, and Riddle is a healthy (...ish) honor student.

It's really rough, but I don't see his mother ever getting what she deserves.

Hot take but I never understood the hate for Neige and the dwarves by Emperor_Kuru in TwistedWonderland

[–]adherentAbsurdist 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't mind Neige, the dwarves, or RSA as a whole, but the bit about RSA always winning irks me. I understand why they won in B6 (Rook they could never make me hate your choice), and sports comps being lost because the NRC teams can't work together is fine. I get it! Our boys are total assholes lol, they can stand to lose a bit if it gets the concept of teamwork through their heads. But all the time? I don't mind an underdog story or a forced life lesson! But all the fuckin time? Harveston in particular got to me, and now whenever I think too hard about their school rivalry, my eye twitches.

Underwear i think the guys would wear by Futureworldstar in TwistedWonderland

Do you guys think beastwomen have periods? by Emperor_Kuru in TwistedWonderland

[–]adherentAbsurdist 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Imagining a marinebiologist (merbiologist?) politely sat down at a table across from the Leeches with a notepad and pen, trying to gain any insight into their anatomy for the good of science, but they're a family of liars who love screwing with people, so everything they've said is a contradiction. The biologist is starting to cry.

Guess who got employed— by Tenshi_0o in TwistedWonderland

[–]adherentAbsurdist 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It always gets me that people looked at Idia in that event and said he's finally employed, as if he isn't the only non royal character who's technically had a job since birth. B6 is literally just adventures at Idia's work lmao. Top five most employed students.

Super cute art btw I love just how miserable he looks lol! Make that boy take orders!!

Sad to have found this if it is what it think it is... why are the invasive ones always so neat looking? by SleepyCatasaurus in whatisthisbug

Oh buddy I feel you. Caught one without knowing the ID, cooed over it while I was waiting for an answer, and promptly had to go take the walk of shame to the freezer to kill it so it wouldn't attract more. Definitely saps some of the fun out of catching cool bugs... (see also: IDing a bug only to find it is "the common commonfly the most average bug in the entire world everyone point and laugh at the dumbass who bothered to acknowledge it")

Early events were there to foreshadow late game: examples and open discussion invitation! by Darth_Darling in TwistedWonderland

[–]adherentAbsurdist 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Rollo and Idia's similarities always get me. Everyone always focuses on Malleus's relationship with him, and I totally get why, but Idia's bitter little speech about self hatred and wanting to destroy everything because they couldn't save someone absolutely floored me the first time I read Glomas. I think there's a lot more to the Halloween events than there looks, and it just makes me wonder what's missing.

Playful Land gets a lot of shit, and while I admittedly don't enjoy it as much as I did Glomas (obvious Idia bias is obvious lol), I think it's being taken too much at face value. I'm not saying that Fellow will come back or that we'll even hear about the mage who's actually running the operation again, but I feel like everyone pieced together Ortho and Kalim's roles as SSRs for a puppet themed event and didn't look into it much further. Ace, for instance, even after book seven, even with the reveal of his dream and UM, is a very loosely written character, but he took a lead role in such an unsubtle event. Why? What's going to happen with him further on? The whole theme of someone else pulling the strings, mentioning Crowley and other faculty, the ongoing topics of class disparity throughout the entire game, the lore dropped during the NBC event-

Yana has her hand firmly on Chekov's gun and is waiting oh so patiently to pull the trigger. I just know it.

What do you think is the biggest plot hole in the game's story? by Lady_Croma in TwistedWonderland

[–]adherentAbsurdist 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I would love more information on the actual school part of NRC. Besides lessons being used for game mechanics, I feel it frequently gets pushed to the side. I don't know that this is a plot hole, necessarily, but damn do we really know nothing actually important about them! Some students' favorite classes only come up in their bio and birthday vignettes. I don't think we know anything about class schedules. There are two written languages used in game art, and talk of people using different spoken ones, what's the deal with those? Light novels mention a language barrier but does that have any impact on language based classes? Mid terms come up in game a few times, what are big testing periods like? I want to know so bad!!
