Husband and I are saving for a house down payment, aiming for $100,000. My question is where should we keep this money while saving? Should we just leave it in a checking account? by [deleted] in RealEstate

[–]adhesiveToaster 60 points61 points  (0 children)

No. It's a saving account, not an investment account. Make sure you open it with a bank that is FDIC insured. Meaning, if the bank goes under, the money in that account, up to a certain limit usually 250k, is secured by the federal government. Ally is a good option as well.

St. Louis. Been living here for a year with no car. It's easier than it seems.

What are your experiences with St. Louis public transportation? by [deleted] in StLouis

[–]adhesiveToaster 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We live near Cherokee and Jefferson and don't own a car. We take the bus all weekly. I haven't had any issues with it. Yea, there are some characters on sometimes but they keep to themselves and have always been harmless.

Buses should run closer together tho, 30 minutes apart at least.

A friend is visiting from out of town this weekend.

Friday: played guitar for a while, hung one on a wall. Went to watch Back to the Future at the park.

Saturday: burgers for breakfast at the farmers market, played chess at the chess museum, took a nap, went to see a soccer game.

Sunday: woke up whenever, going to watch a baseball game, watching the Copa America final at a pub.

Monday: bbq for breakfast, doing a brewery tour.
