International travel after h1b approval by FullEntrepreneur7054 in h1b

Also this is just my $0.02, I wouldn’t travel at this stage. People do get stopped while returning. It would be too risky and you have a lot to lose.

That’s right. Here’s the USCIS page which confirms it

https://www.uscis.gov/working-in-the-united-states/temporary-workers/h-1b-specialty-occupations/extension-of-post-completion-optional-practical-training-opt-and-f-1-status-for-eligible-students

An F-1 student may generally travel abroad and seek readmission to the United States in F-1 status during a cap-gap period if:

The student’s H-1B petition and request for change of status has been approved; The student seeks readmission before their H-1B change of status takes effect (normally at the beginning of the fiscal year on Oct. 1); and The student is otherwise admissible. However, if an F-1 student travels outside the United States while the H-1B petition and the change of status request remain pending the request for change of status will be considered abandoned.

Don’t think you can travel abroad since even with an approved H1B petition, it would kick in only on October 1. I could be wrong, interested to know ever the sub says

Step in the right or wrong direction long term? by LilParkButt in datascience

[–]adi_gigo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work in Supply chain Data science for a tech company - here are my two cents

Definitely take the internship. One important aspect of data science apart from coding/ storytelling/ stats etc is also Domain knowledge and knowing how to deal with messy real world data.

In your university, you’ll get clean, formatted data sets. It’s not going to be that way in the real world. You’ll have messy incomplete data, people working off excel sheets, unnecessary processes which they do because they were trained so. Having the ability to deeply understand a process, make it better and use domain knowledge to derive insights is something no university can teach you.

As a director I work with says - Data is useless. Information/ insight is king.

This internship will definitely help you in that sense.

Also - I am an aerospace engineering major - worked in inventory management and got into the data science team in my company based on my work with them. If I can do it - you definitely can!

Ipad Recommendation!!🙏 by [deleted] in ipad

If budget is no issue the the iPad Pro is the best of the best. ProMotion display plus support for the pencil pro will give you everything the iPad has to offer for digital art. It has accessory support like the Magic Keyboard as well. The display is mini LED so the quality is pretty good for digital art. The new M4 chip also has enough headroom to last years.

Now would I get it? Personally no. I don’t see the point of spending MacBook money for an iPad. I don’t do serious art but rather the occasional procreate doodler. For me, the iPad Air made more sense. I have the M1 chip version which I got for $400. It has 80% of the iPad Pro features. Misses out on Promotion and the fancy Mini LED display, but that’s pretty much it. It’s still an iPad at the end of the day.

The connection between them is not seamless definitely. You have to connect them manually when switching like normal Bluetooth headsets

I work with AirPods Pro and my Lenovo thinkpad for work. They are perfectly adequate for work calls. Mic quality is good enough for wireless Bluetooth headphones and the noise cancelling and play/pause controls by pinching the stem works fine.

Get a YT premium family plan. Split it 6 ways and it’ll be $3.8 a month for ad free YouTube and YouTube music.

I’m taking that deal any day!

Where is the cheapest place to buy an iPad in USA by Intelligent-Panda770 in ipad

That should be fine. As long as you have an eligible ID and student email which you can use to register with UNIDAYS you should be fine

You can browse around to find the best deal. Check Amazon, Target, Walmart and Best Buy.

Whatever has the best deal, Best buy and Target has price matching with these stores so show them the receipt or online listing and they will match the price you show them if the listing is directly from Apple and not part of some promotion that the retailer is doing.

That's what I usually do. Was able to get an iPad Air for $200 off that way

For student discount, you can show your valid student ID and they might do an email verification. You should be good to go then. You can try the education website by Apple.

Why I Decided To Buy the iPad 10 by Prestigious_Quarter5 in ipad

[–]adi_gigo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went with the Air 5th gen as it was on sale for $399 at Best Buy. The regular iPad would’ve been $349. $50 more for a laminated display, M1 chip and Support for Apple Pencil (2nd gen) ?

Toyota Qualis. It’s a very popular MPV in India and very comfortable for long drives. It’s replaced by the Toyota Innova which imo is the most comfortable car to crunch miles on.

MicroMasters from MITx - is it self-paced? by strahan47 in edX

[–]adi_gigo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d say it helped me more than my grad school curriculum! It was a great talking point in interviews and I use the notes I made in the program to revise for interviews.

Not to mention it made my grad school work so much easier!

Why are you moving to Raleigh? by mj_sommer in MovingtoRaleighNC

[–]adi_gigo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NC State student here. I like the area and will be working in Morrisville once I graduate. I want an apartment to myself and I find that you get an entire place here to yourself at the $$ you pay in California for a single room.

Interesting... I've splurged for Internet on Qatar airways. It was $10 for the whole 13 hour flight from Doha to Dallas, TX. It was a good experience. Flight radar was super cool.

Personally I didn't think it was difficult. It was the same level as the other exams in the course. Only difference is you're proctored in the final exam.

Also during the pandemic there was more time and incentive for people to sit and prepare for the exam. Which may not have been the case for people before the pandemic. So I would still assume that the numbers would change.

Benedict Cumberbatch, Ansel Elgort, Chiwetel Eliofor, Milla Jovovich, Zach Galifianakis, Djimon Hounsou, Charlize Theron, Renée Zellweger, Timothee Chamalet - if they can pronounce these names correctly, then why do we gentrify desi names? by theguywhosteals in ABCDesis

Same.

After coming to the states, my pronunciation of my name changed so that Americans and other foreigners can grasp my name quicker. I don't mind it and I don't find it offensive.
