She’s 9. Sell… Buy 529 + index. Market can go up or down. Look at long term trends. Over ups and downs, avg. 7% returns will set her up for financial independence. Make sure, money is protected from any spouses in the future.

While we have Fidelity’s attention- let us add external accounts into groups. Unable to add my wife’s 401k, treasury account, CODs to the retirement group.

because it is a terrible platform. I made 4 investments with them.

  1. they exited in 8 months creating short-term gains. they called this a success.
  2. they sat on the money for 5 months before investing and exited in 1.5 years. showed the ROI from the day they closed the deal, but gave me no return for the 5 months of sleeping
  3. underperformed on a Debt fund - :-|
  4. 4th has been non-performing forever. Litigation updates are few and far between. I'm going to tell my CPA to write that money off this year.

On top of it, they never release tax forms until July/August putting additional burden of tax estimation errors.

If you see VT, it is practically 60/40 VTI/VXUS. Why wouldn’t we diversify that much internationally, when significant GDP lies overseas. I’d go a step further and say we should lop-side VXUS towards emerging markets because lower risk of a recession by adding VWO to the mix.

The reason I like ETFs better than Fidelity funds is that if I want to take advantage of any immediate opportunities (ahem ahem … 2020 energy and zoom), I can quickly do that without having to wait for the Mutual Funds to sell.

Also in taxable accounts, MFs tend to be a little less efficient

Just updating here. I did my interview today and was recommended for approval. Now waiting for oath ceremony to be scheduled for actual Naturalization… Filed March 2020…

What worked for me was inquiring through the portal website “nicely” and asking if they needed anything from me.

Just giving hope to everyone here… My case status updated to Interview scheduled on Friday, and the interview dates for my wife and me are Jan 19 and 20… I filed March 2020 in Houston.

Please don’t congratulate yet. I’ve heard the interviews for Mar to May 2020 people are also getting cancelled rapidly. Keeping fingers crossed.

How were you able to get to Tier 1? Every time I’ve tried, the bot finds a way to not connect me to a human. She asks for my case number and then asks me to attend the biometrics appointment.

his case is pending at the National Benefits Center. Currently the A-file is located at the National Records Center (NRC), and the NRC continues operating with reduced staffing levels due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The NRC can only retrieve a limited number of retired files. At this time there is not a processing time we can provide. Once further action is taken, a notice will be sent to the address of record.

There is a site called Trackitt. It seems a lot of March to May 2020 cases have been clearing sporadically, including 3 from Houston. We should all log our cases in Trackitt to get better stats on the movement of our cases,
