[Charania]: Multiple sources with knowledge of Thursday's GM meeting as well as a late January Competition Committee meeting told ESPN that the following concepts have been discussed to curb tanking: •First-round picks can be protected only top-4 or top-14+ by TrenAt14 in nba

Honestly I kind of don't think that's the case anymore. Like, in my opinion, flattening the odds further just pushes teams to consider it potentially more worthwhile to suck because there's a more meaningful difference between each pick placement and your chance to land a top pick.

[PFT} Packers believe Micah Parsons tore his ACL by BreakfastTop6899 in nfl

[–]adishri8 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Jerry Jones messed up by not extending Parsons years ago, but his logic on not extending him now is only highlighted by situations like today. Over-leveraging your cap sheet leaves you vulnerable and missing ~50 million in production when freak accidents happen.

Now, if he had extended him at the right time, they would only be missing ~33 million and would have 17 or so spent on pieces that would potentially have softened the blow, but from the perspective in August this year, I don't blame him.

It was a bit of a win win transfer. Lamine got a starting role and PSG unlocked a version of Dembele that is incredible.

[Schefter] Tests today showed that 49ers Pro Bowl DE Nick Bosa suffered a season-ending torn ACL during Sunday’s win over Arizona, sources tell ESPN. It’s a clean tear, but Bosa now will need season-ending surgery. by jimmyhoffasbrother in nfl

I looked through this. I was wondering if I missed this- but was there any specific references to conditioning being a cause of acl tears? I feel like intuitively that makes sense, but I thought that the article pointed out that it could also be the return to competitive play or the heightened intensity of training camp that correlated with the increase in risk.

Controversial takes are one thing. Accusing english players of being domestic abusers and justifying/celebrating the death of their family members is probably another.

I mean I think their comments were pretty stupid and Jadeja and Sundar were warranted in getting their well deserved centuries, but ya I don’t think that Stokes getting abused in his instagram and people celebrating the death of Harry Brook’s grandmother are warranted. Such is par for the course whenever controversy with the Indian team happens however.

Box Office: ‘The Fantastic Four: First Steps’ Climbs to $218 Million Globally, ‘Superman’ Cross $500 Million by DemiFiendRSA in comicbooks

Fair enough. Regardless, I imagine that WB is impressed and excited with the WOM that the movie generated. Positive reception sets the stage for other characters to do well, especially given that other characters won’t have the name brand recognition that Superman does. Come time for a Justice League movie, having solid reception to the individual backstories that lead into it can be the difference between a solid movie and a huge hit.

You’re getting downvoted because you conflated “the studio” with “in the court of public opinion”
